Barricades are built near the drawpoin...Cemented paste backfill (CPB) is gaining popularity in many underground mines worldwide. Sufficient water is added into CPB to make a flowable material for pipe transportation. Barricades are built near the drawpoints to prevent in-rush of the fill slurry. To avoid barricade failures resulting from excessive backfill pressures, backfilling is typically performed with a plug pour followed by a final pour. The interval between the two pours should be shortened or removed to increase mining productivity and avoid pipe clogging. Recently, Li proposed to apply wick drains in backfilled stopes to promote drainage and consolidation. The preliminary simulations by considering an instantaneous filling indicated that the drainage of CPB can be significantly accelerated by using wick drains. Barricade was not considered. Here, some new numerical modeUings are presented with more representative filling sequences, stope geometry, and different draining configurations. The results illustrate that the stope can be backfilled continuously by using wick drains.展开更多

The characteristic of different gas emissions and the corresponding counter measures were presented, and & case study of simultaneous extraction of coal and gas in Xieyi Coal Mine was carried out by coal mining and gas extraction without coal-pillar. The field application shows that gas drainage ratio in panel 5121(0) averages about 90% and reaches as high as 95~/0, which will give beneficial references to gas control in coal mines.展开更多

Based on an established unified feature modeling scheme...CPS (cyber-physics system) engineering brings new revolutionary opportunities for multi-disciplinary and complex processes, like oil extraction from oil sands. Based on an established unified feature modeling scheme, a software modeling framework to simulate the process of SAGD (steam-assisted gravity drainage) is proposed. The main purpose of this work was to apply CPS in the complex production engineering informatics modeling as it applied to SAGD. Existing physics models and simulation algorithms for main SAGD phenomena were reviewed, and an integrated ontology model via a feature-based approach has been developed. Conservation laws were used as the governing principles, while the transport phenomena were modelled via the primary phenomenon features. The representation of typical data flows targeting to the functional simulation scenarios by applying the concept of phenomenon features was also done. The definition of this feature type represents a new expansion of the emerging unified feature scheme for engineering software modeling. Slotted liners were taken as the well-completion option and their design and specifications were included in the case study model. The unique representation of the planned software design is developed and expressed with graphical diagrams of the UML (unified modelling language) convention.展开更多
