Base...In order to start up the brushless DC motor (BLDCM) without reverse rotation and smoothly switch the running state of the motor, a novel startup and smoothly switching method for a sensodess BLDCM is presented. Based on the saturation effect of the stator iron, six short voltage pulses are applied to determine the initial rotor position and the rotor can be found within 60°. After that, a series of short and long voltage pulses are used to accelerate the motor and the variation of the response current is utilized to detect the rotor position dynamically. When the motor reaches a certain speed at which the back-electromotive force (EMF) method can be applied, all the power devices are turned off and the running state of the motor is smoothly switched at the moment determined by the relationship between the terminal voltage waveform and the commutation phases. The experimental results verify the feasibility and validity of the proposed method.展开更多
To promote the modeling standardization process of the integrated circuits, an improved electrical simulation model for a direct power injection (DPI) setup which was used to measure the conducted immunity of a 16-b...To promote the modeling standardization process of the integrated circuits, an improved electrical simulation model for a direct power injection (DPI) setup which was used to measure the conducted immunity of a 16-bit microcontroller to radio frequency aggression was investigated. Based on the existing model of the same microcontroller, the PDN module was modified by adding the core, PLL and MD network models, which could reflect the actual electric distribution situation within the microcontroller more accurately. By comparing the simulation results with the measurement results, the effectiveness of the modified model can be improved to 500 MHz, and its uncertainty is within +1.8 dB (+2 dB is acceptable). Then, to improve the simulation accuracy of the complete model in the high frequency range, the I/O model which contained the dynamic and nonlinear characteristics reflecting the variation of the internal impedance of the microcontroller with increasing the frequency of the external noise was introduced. By comparing the simulation results with the measurement results, the effectiveness of the second modified model can be improved up to 1.4 GHz with the uncertainty of ~1.8 dB. Thus, a conclusion can be reached that the proposed model can be applied to a much wider frequency range with a smaller uncertainty than the latest model of the similar type. Furthermore, associated with the electromagnetic emission testing platform model, the PDN module can also be used to predict the electromagnetic conducted and radiated emission characteristics. This modeling method can also be applied to other integrated circuits, which is very helpful to the standardization of the IC electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) modeling process.展开更多

Positioning with high precision piezoelectric actuators is widely used.To overcome positioning inaccuracy caused by hysteresis and creep of actuators,a precise tracking method for piezoelectric actuators using active ...Positioning with high precision piezoelectric actuators is widely used.To overcome positioning inaccuracy caused by hysteresis and creep of actuators,a precise tracking method for piezoelectric actuators using active disturbance rejection control(ADRC) has been proposed in this paper.This method,in real-time,actively estimates and compensates parameter uncertainties,nonlinear factors such as hysteresis,and external disturbances in the tracking system.Precise tracking of the piezoelectric actuator can be achieved without any form of feedforward compensations.The experimental results demonstrate that the active disturbance rejection controller can reduce tracking errors by over90%comparing with those using the PID controller.Those features of the proposed control method are very suitable for applications in adaptive optics.展开更多
A fully integrated frequency synthesizer with low jitter and low power consumption in 0.18 μm CMOS (complementary metal-oxide semiconductor) technology is proposed in this paper.The frequency synthesizer uses a novel...A fully integrated frequency synthesizer with low jitter and low power consumption in 0.18 μm CMOS (complementary metal-oxide semiconductor) technology is proposed in this paper.The frequency synthesizer uses a novel single-end gain-boosting charge pump, a differential coupled voltage controlled oscillator (VCO) and a dynamic logic phase/frequency detecor (PFD) to acquire low output jitter.The output frequency range of the frequency synthesizer is up to 1 200 MHz to 1 400 MHz for GPS (global position system) application.The post simulation results show that the phase noise of VCO is only 127.1 dBc/Hz at a 1 MHz offset and the Vp-p jitter of the frequency synthesizer output clock is 13.65 ps.The power consumption of the frequency synthesizer not including the divider is 4.8 mW for 1.8 V supply and it occupies a 0.8 mm×0.7 mm chip area.展开更多
