With the increase of network complexity,the flexibility of network control and management becomes a nontrivial problem.Both Software Defined Network(SDN) and Autonomic Network technologies are sophisticated technologi...With the increase of network complexity,the flexibility of network control and management becomes a nontrivial problem.Both Software Defined Network(SDN) and Autonomic Network technologies are sophisticated technologies for the network control and management.These two technologies could be combined together to construct a software defined self-managing solution for the future network.An autonomic QoS management mechanism in Software Defined Network(AQSDN) is proposed in this paper.In AQSDN,the various QoS features can be configured autonomically in an OpenFlow switch through extending the OpenFlow and OF-Config protocols.Based on AQSDN,a novel packet context-aware QoS model(PCaQoS) is also introduced for improving the network QoS.PCaQoS takes packet context into account when packet is marked and managed into forwarding queues.The implementation of a video application's prototype which evaluates the self-configuration feature of the AQSDN and the enhancement ability of the PCaQoS is presented in order to validate this design.展开更多

The turning motion of a tracked pipeline-robot implemented by skid steering is a nonholonomic dynamic problem with intrinsic nonlinearity, to which the classical control method is inappropriate and cannot be applied. ...The turning motion of a tracked pipeline-robot implemented by skid steering is a nonholonomic dynamic problem with intrinsic nonlinearity, to which the classical control method is inappropriate and cannot be applied. This paper presents a novel path tracking control method based on hierarchical fuzzy structure. The controller consists of three sub-level low dimensional fuzzy control systems: fuzzy supervisory control, fuzzy steering and fuzzy velocity control. As a result, establishing the bases of rules for the fuzzy control becomes feasible and simplified, and the related controller can be adapted to complicated ground and environment. Using this method, the number of fuzzy controt rules is greatly decreased so that the curse of dimensionality causing the multivariable problem does not occur. Simulation and experimental results validate the effectiveness of the proposed method with satisfied performance on path tracking. Autonomous navigation of the caterpillar-inspired pipeline-robot is also implemented based on the sensor feedbacks.展开更多

A trust management mechanism based on the jury system for distributed cognitive radio networks is proposed in this paper. The "jury user" is designed to collaboratively examine the reputation of the cognitive user in the networks and to perform data fusion and spectrum allocation for distributed cognitive radio networks. The purpose of this paper is to study tentatively this problem based on the extant results of controllability principle and budgeting in management control system of organization. In this paper, three main results are as follows: (1) To disclose that the controllability of an organization is one characteristic of the budgeting systems and the controllability is not impartial and not single personal action. (2) To discuss tentatively an improved budgeting system to improve the several weaknesses of traditional budgeting control that Otley (1999) summarized from the academic and practitioner literatures in order to improve the controllability of strategy management with budget flexibility. (3) To build the new model of flexible budget with three new features: it makes strategy objectives easily achievable and controllable; it makes controllers have a more strategic role; it can balance these multiple goals when they cannot be achieved simultaneously and external conditions are more demanding.展开更多
Infrastructure development in Nigeria has attracted the attention of researchers in view of the attitudes of contractors and government lead-lag role playing. These attitudes led to the enactment of Fiscal Responsibil...Infrastructure development in Nigeria has attracted the attention of researchers in view of the attitudes of contractors and government lead-lag role playing. These attitudes led to the enactment of Fiscal Responsibility Act 2007 and Public Procurement Act 2007 to reduce internal control system deficiencies and budget indiscipline in the Nigerian public sector fiscal matters and procurement process. Ironically, despite these efforts, infrastructure development is still a problem affecting the lives of Nigerians as their poverty level is on the increase. This paper tests the effects of internal control system deficiency on contractors' capability in infrastructure development in the Nigerian public sector. Data drawn from a sample of 228 infrastructures were used for analysis. Two research questions on contractors' fiduciary obligation to government and capacity were analysed. Kendall's Tau-br correlation of coefficient and Chi-square X^2 statistics were employed for data analysis. Findings show that deficient internal control system strongly and directly breeds deficiency in the contractors' capability for infrastructure development. The paper recommends that oath of bribery should complement oath of secrecy to ensure that contractors and government agencies that are responsible for execution of infrastructure play to the rules of the "games", especially the provisions of Public Procurement Act 2007 and Fiscal Responsibility Act 2007. Public-private-partnership-initiative, such as build-operate and transfer method of contracting, should be encouraged to improve on contractors' capability and stewardship.展开更多
