The ability of geospatial thinking plays an important role in the field of geography, and it is particularly important to cultivate middle school students in this area. This study used an experimental control method, with second grade students from Chuxiong Normal University Affiliated Middle School as the research subjects. By applying the AR digital sandbox model to the teaching of “Interpretation of Topographic Maps”, an AR sandbox teaching task was designed, and the teaching quality and effect were evaluated through section testing. Analyze the changes in students’ geospatial thinking abilities after using the AR digital sandbox. The research results indicate that AR digital sandbox can help students immerse themselves in experiencing and understanding geographical concepts, deepening their understanding of geographical spatial relationships. Compared with traditional teaching methods, digital sandbox can stimulate students’ interest in learning and cultivate their thinking abilities.展开更多
