[Method] Culture dish method and pot experi-ment were carried out with the seeds and the seedling of 10 adzuki bean varieties, respectively, and seed germination rate and various indexes of the seedlings were measured. [Result] ① 30 g/L wheat root aqueous extracts very significantly im-proved the germination rate and sprouting index of B1789, Baihong 3, Baohong 947. ② The genotype differences of adzuki bean seedling was presented by the morphological index in wheat root aqueous extracts treatment; among al the mor-phological indexes, Baohong 947, Jinhong 3 presented a positive al elopathic effect, and their plant height, root length and leaf area were extremely significantly in-creased, while the fresh weights of both above-ground and underground parts were increased obviously, compared with the control. ③ According to the synthetical al-lelopathic indices, wheat root aqueous extracts had different degrees of promoting effects on the six adzuki bean varieties: Baohong 947〉Baihong 6〉B1789〉Zunhua-hong〉Jihong〉Jinhong 3〉Baohong 8824-17〉Baihong 3. ④ Treated by wheat root aqueous extract, the SOD activity, POD activity, MDA content, TTC activity and chlorophyl content in the seedlings of adzuki beans of different genotypes changed by a smal er range in al elopathic promotion varieties than in al elopathic inhibition varieties. [Conclusion] The results proved that Baohong 947 is the best summer-planting variety after wheat.展开更多

Taking into account the gas deposition and flow conditions in the Chinese coal basins, this paper describes the status of the theory and key technologies of this integrated extraction system, and presents its application and practice in the Shaqu, Zhongxing, Fenghuangshan and Pingmei mines. Areas for further improvements in future studies are discussed, focusing in particular on the fundamentals of the extraction system to make it greener, more scientific, and more advanced in both the exploitation and utilization of coal and the gas in coal.展开更多

The results showed that the fly ash can be activated effectively and the leaching rate of alumina can be improved to more than 92% through this method. The best process parameters were the ratio of raw materials,i. e. the material weight ratio of fly ash, calcium carbonate and sodium carbonate was 1. 0∶1. 2∶0. 9. The activating temperature was 850℃-900℃,activating time was 3 h. This process has a potential application prospect and improves the value of comprehensive utilization of fly ash.展开更多

Metabolic syndrome implies a variety of risk factors that are based on abdominal obesity and insulin resistance. Moreover, the importance of metabolic syndrome is emphasized due to the fact that it presents an increase in oxidative stress, which is produced by the sum of alterations that each risk factor produces within the metabolic syndrome pathology. Reducing oxidative stress in these patients is currently one of the most interesting challenges of cardiovascular and metabolic therapeutics, because it is a molecular biology alteration that is not generally diagnosed and, therefore, not treated. The increasing incidence of overweight and obesity cause an increase in the incidence of metabolic syndrome, thus turning into a huge problem that keeps growing at alarming proportions. This syndrome's incidence oscillates between 20 and 40%, depending on the gender, age, ethnic group, and diagnostic criteria used for the definition of the disease. Prospective studies show that metabolic syndrome doubles the risk of cardiovascular disease and causes a five-fold increase in the risk of developing type 2 diabetes. With the aim of decreasing the oxidative stress caused by metabolic syndrome, we investigated the effect of antioxidant protection in DNA repair and cell membranes through the use of blueberry extract, which is the fruit with the highest antioxidant capacity, in patients with metabolic syndrome. Thirty patients were studied for a period of 6 months of intervention, and it could be demonstrated that they showed a highly significant decrease in the damage produced to the DNA, which was measured by the urinary excretion of 8-hydroxy-2'-deoxyguanosine (8-OHdG) and the damage caused to the vascular endothelium and cell membranes, which was measured through the urinary excretion of F2-isoprostane. Based on our knowledge, this investigation is the first one to show that lyophilized blueberry extract (BlueKing~) as a dietary supplement, with meals, is an additional therapeutic tool of great value for the treatment of oxidative stress through DNA and cell membrane protection in patients with metabolic syndrome.展开更多
