The microstructures and hot tensile behaviors of ZK30 alloys subjected to single-and multi-pass friction stir processing(FSP)were systematically investigated.Following single-pass FSP(S-FSP),coarse grains underwent re...The microstructures and hot tensile behaviors of ZK30 alloys subjected to single-and multi-pass friction stir processing(FSP)were systematically investigated.Following single-pass FSP(S-FSP),coarse grains underwent refinement to 1−2μm,with a distinct basal texture emerging in the stir zone(SZ).Additionally,second-phase particles were fragmented,dispersed,and partially dissolved.Multi-pass FSP(M-FSP)further enhanced the homogeneity of the microstructure,reduced texture intensity differences,and decreased the fraction of second-phase particles by 50%.Both S-FSP and M-FSP SZs demonstrated superplasticity at strain rates below 1×10^(−3)s^(−1)and at temperatures of 250−350℃.The S-FSP SZ exhibited an elongation of 390%at 250℃and 1×10^(−4)s^(−1),while the M-FSP SZ achieved an elongation of 406%at 350℃and 1×10^(−3)s^(−1).The superplastic deformation of SZ was co-dominated by grain boundary sliding(GBS)and the solute-drag mechanism in S-FSP and mainly by GBS in M-FSP.展开更多
There has been a growing demand for safety parts with tailored properties in automobile industry.However,the understanding of tribological behavior of press hardening steels(PHS)on the tailored conditions is highly in...There has been a growing demand for safety parts with tailored properties in automobile industry.However,the understanding of tribological behavior of press hardening steels(PHS)on the tailored conditions is highly inadequate.The present work aims at creating new knowledge about the tribological characteristics of PHS on the tailored conditions and bridging this existing gap.The paper proposes an improved hot drawing tribo-simulator to simulate the realistic experimental conditions industry.Investigations were carried out on the condition of different initial heating temperatures,tool temperatures,austenitizing temperatures,cooling rates and microstructures.The presented results show that the whole frictional process is divided into three stages for both coated and uncoated steels.The frictional factor changes a lot and the peak value of frictional factor occurs for serious adhesive wear.The frictional factor rises as the tool temperature and austenitizing temperature rise.The surface morphology of tools indicates that the coating adhering to tool gets thicker as the tool temperature increases.With the increase of cooling rate,the frictional factor declines firstly and then rises to some extent.Flat dies with different temperatures are used to form specimens with different microstructures,which also affects the frictional factor and wear.展开更多
Microchannel heat sinks constitute an innovative cooling technology for the removal of a large amount of heat from a small area and are suitable for electronics cooling.In the present work,Tool Steel D2 grade milling ...Microchannel heat sinks constitute an innovative cooling technology for the removal of a large amount of heat from a small area and are suitable for electronics cooling.In the present work,Tool Steel D2 grade milling slitting saw type plain milling cutter is fabricated The microchannels are machined in aluminum work pieces to form the microchannel heat sink using the fabricated milling cutter in an horizontal milling machine.A new experimental set-up is fabricated to conduct the tests on the microchannel heat sink.The heat carried by the water increases with mass flow rate and heat input.The heat transfer coefficient and Nusselt number increases with mass flow rate and increased heat input.The pressure drop increases with Reynolds number and decreases with input heat.The friction factor decreases with Reynolds number and decreases with input heat.The thermal resistance decreases with pumping power and decreases with input heat.展开更多
