Large cavities in carbonate formations pos...Most of the carbonate formation are highly heterogeneous with cavities of different sizes, which makes the prediction of cavity-filled reservoir in carbonate rocks difficult. Large cavities in carbonate formations pose serious threat to drilling operations. Logging-whiledrilling (LWD) is currently used to accurately identify and evaluate cavities in reservoirs during drilling. In this study, we use the self-adaptive hp-FEM algorithm simulate and calculate the LWD resistivity responses of fracture-cavity reservoir cavities. Compared with the traditional h-FEM method, the self-adaptive hp-FEM algorithm has the characteristics of the self-adaptive mesh refinement and the calculations exponentially converge to highly accurate solutions. Using numerical simulations, we investigated the effect of the cavity size, distance between cavity and borehole, and transmitted frequency on the LWD resistivity response. Based on the results, a method for recognizing cavities is proposed. This research can provide the theoretical basis for the accurate identification and quantitative evaluation of various carbonate reservoirs with cavities encountered in practice.展开更多

With the efforts over three decades, free energy methods based on equilibr...Estimation of protein-ligand binding affinity within chemical accuracy is one of the grand challenges in structure-based rational drug design. With the efforts over three decades, free energy methods based on equilibrium molecular dynamics (MD) simulations have become mature and are nowadays routinely applied in the community of computational chemistry. On the contrary, nonequilibrinm MD simulation methods have attracted less attention, despite their underlying rigor in mathematics and potential advantage in efficiency. In this work, the equilibrium and nonequilibrium simulation methods are compared in terms of accuracy and convergence rate in the calculations of relative binding free energies. The proteins studied are T4-lysozyme mutant L99A and COX-2. For each protein, two ligands are studied. The results show that the noneqnilibrium simulation method can be competitively as accurate as the equilibrium method, and the former is more efficient than the latter by considering the convergence rate with respect to the cost of wall clock time. In addition, Bennett acceptance ratio, which is a bidirectional post-processing method, converges faster than the unidirectional Jarzynski equality for the nonequilibrium simulations.展开更多

These presented sliding-mode surfaces keep zero value from a certain time, and the system states converge quickly in sliding phase. Therefore, the system response speed is increased. The proposed method offers the global convergent time analytically, which is useful to optimize the transient performance of system. Simulation results are used to verify the proposed method.展开更多

Firstly, the solution space was organized into a small-world network model based on social relationship network. Secondly, a simple search strategy was adopted to navigate into this network in order to realize the optimization. In SWO, the two operators for searching the short-range contacts and long-range contacts in small-world network were corresponding to the exploitation and exploration, which have been revealed as the common features in many intelligent algorithms. The proposed algorithm was validated via popular benchmark functions and engineering problems. And also the impacts of parameters were studied. The simulation results indicate that because of the small-world theory, it is suitable for heuristic methods to search targets efficiently in this constructed small-world network model. It is not easy for each test mail to fall into a local trap by shifting into two mapping spaces in order to accelerate the convergence speed. Compared with some classical algorithms, SWO is inherited with optimal features and outstanding in convergence speed. Thus, the algorithm can be considered as a good alternative to solve global optimization problems.展开更多

Th...Based on economic convergence model and its derivatives, this paper examines the relationship between popultion mobility and economic growth in Chongqing and its five functional areas by using 2000~2013 panel data. The results show that there exists interactive relationship between population mobility and economic growth, and this interaction is rendered as mutual inhibition. The restrain from economic growth to population mobility shows smaller effect than the reverse. In the sparsely populated areas, economic growth is promoted by population mobility, and in the densely populated areas, economic growth is driven by investment. Therefore, government has to regulate population mobility to achieve sustainable economic growth.展开更多
