Physical...Poly(vinylidene fluoride-co-hexafluoropropylene) (PVDF-HFP) based composite polymer electrolyte (CPE) modified with CeO2, La2O3 and Y2O3 nano-rare earth oxides was prepared by phase inversion technique. Physical and chemical properties of the modified CPEs were studied by SEM, TG-DSC and electrochemical methods. The results show that the CPE modified with 10% La2O3 (mass fraction) has the best practical applicability, which indicates that the thermal and electrochemical stability can reach over 400 ℃ and 4.5 V, respectively, and temperature dependence of ionic conductivity follows Vogel-Tamman-Fulcher (VTF) relationship and ionic conductivity at room temperature is up to 3.3 mS/cm. The interfacial resistance Ri reaches a stable value about 557 Ω after 6 d storage.展开更多
Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) has recently evolved through technological improvement of equipment,with a major clinical impact in digestive and mediastinal diseases.State-of-the-art EUS equipment now includes real-time ...Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) has recently evolved through technological improvement of equipment,with a major clinical impact in digestive and mediastinal diseases.State-of-the-art EUS equipment now includes real-time sono-elastography,which might be useful for a better characterization of lesions and increased accuracy of differential diagnosis (for e.g.lymph nodes or focal pancreatic lesions).Contrast-enhanced EUS imaging is also available,and is already being used for the differential diagnosis of focal pancreatic masses.The recent development of low mechanical index contrast harmonic EUS imaging offers hope for improved diagnosis,staging and monitoring of anti-angiogenic treatment.Tridimensional EUS (3D-EUS) techniques can be applied to enhance the spatial understanding of EUS anatomy,especially for improved staging of tumors,obtained through a better assessment of the relationship with major surrounding vessels.Despite the progress gained through all these imaging techniques,they cannot replace cytological or histological diagnosis.However,real-time optical histological diagnosis can be achieved through the use of single-fiber confocal laser endomicroscopy techniques placed under real-time EUS-guidance through a 22G needle.Last,but not least,EUS-assisted natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery (NOTES) procedures offer a whole new area of imaging applications,used either for combination of NOTES peritoneoscopy and intraperitoneal EUS,but also for access of retroperitoneal organs through posterior EUS guidance.展开更多
2'-methacryloxy-3α, 7α, I2α- trimethacryloyl cholic acid ethyl ester (CAGE4MA) has been prepared from cholic acid. Photo-polymeric resins were prepared from CAGE4MA. 2,2-bis[4-(2-hydroxy-3-methacrylyloxypropoxy...2'-methacryloxy-3α, 7α, I2α- trimethacryloyl cholic acid ethyl ester (CAGE4MA) has been prepared from cholic acid. Photo-polymeric resins were prepared from CAGE4MA. 2,2-bis[4-(2-hydroxy-3-methacrylyloxypropoxy)phenyllpropane (bis-GMA) was used for comparison, triethyleneglycol dimethacrylate (TEGDMA) was used as diluent. The polymerization was initiated by camphoroquinone (CQ)/N, N-dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate (DMAEMA) system. The conversion of CAGE4MA was 39% when the reaction time is 60s, which is lower than bis-GMA and TEGDMA. The swelling value of CAGE4MA resin was 0.41% in distilled water, which is much lower than those of bis-GMA resin (2.04%) and TEGDMA resin (4.77%) under the same conditions. Copolymers from CAGE4MA and TEGDMA have been prepared. With the increase of TEGDMA in mixture, the degree of conversion of CA GE4MA and swelling value increased. The swelling values of photocured resins in 0.1mol/L HCl were also measured.展开更多

The effect of the cont...Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS), tetraethoxysilane (TEOS), ethyl alcohol (EtOH) and deionized water were main raw materials to prepare silicone-modified hybrid thin films using sol-gel method. The effect of the contents of H2O and PDMS on thin films was studied. When the volume ratio of H20 to TEOS is 0.5, the optimum quality of thin films is obtained. And the gelation time is affected slightly by H20 content. Uniform thin films are obtained when the volume ratio of PDMS to TEOS is 0.2. Yet, the sol would be inactive in 6 d. Various properties of thin films were studied, including hardness, adhesive quality, hydrophobic property, corrosion protection property, and abrasion resistance. Test results show that the pencil hardness is generally 3-6 H, and adhesive quality achieves the highest standard of 0. When the sintering temperature is below 400℃, the contact angle is about 95° and hydrophobic films are obtained. The abrasion resistance of thin films is better than that of aluminum alloy when the sintering temperature is higher than 300℃. And the excellent corrosion protective effect is obtained by single-layer coating when the sintering temperature is higher than 400℃.展开更多

New approach to the design of electrode materials and electrochemical systems followed by the improved design of ultracapacitor cell...Novel carbon-carbon ultracapacitors and hybrid lithium-carbon devices are described. New approach to the design of electrode materials and electrochemical systems followed by the improved design of ultracapacitor cells and modules have resulted in prototypes of superior performance that was verified by independent tests in the Institute of Transportation Studies, UC (ultracapacitor) Davis, in JME Inc., in Wayne State University, and in some other labs. All the test results confirm the superlative performance of the devices developed: carbon-carbon ultracapacitors demonstrate the extremely low inner resistance resulting in the highest power capability and efficiency that also alleviates the cooling requirements and improves safety. Our "parallel" hybrid devices demonstrate substantially higher energy density than competing LIC (lithium ion capacitor) technologies keeping at the same time the high power density, comparable with the best carbon-carbon ultracapacitors available in the market. In order to make ultracapacitor technology even more attractive to automakers, new organic electrolytes (not ionic liquids) have been developed and are currently under testing at temperatures about 100 ℃ and voltages up to 3.0 V.展开更多

As data exploded to be backed up, two main challenges in data deduplication are the CPU-intensive chunking and hashing works and the I/0 intensive disk-index access latency. However, CPU-intensive works have been vastly parallelized and speeded up by multi-core and many-core processors; the I/0 latency is likely becoming the bottleneck in data deduplication. To alleviate the challenge of I/0 latency in multi-core systems, multi-threaded deduplication (Multi-Dedup) architecture was proposed. The main idea of Multi-Dedup was using parallel deduplication threads to hide the I/0 latency. A prefix based concurrent index was designed to maintain the internal consistency of the deduplication index with low synchronization overhead. On the other hand, a collisionless cache array was also designed to preserve locality and similarity within the parallel threads. In various real-world datasets experiments, Multi-Dedup achieves 3-5 times performance improvements incorporating with locality-based ChunkStash and local-similarity based SiLo methods. In addition, Multi-Dedup has dramatically decreased the synchronization overhead and achieves 1.5-2 times performance improvements comparing to traditional lock-based synchronization methods.展开更多

Searching fo...Gamma scanning is one of the most common nuclear techniques on troubleshooting industrial equipments like distillation columns and reactors. With a very simple concept, the technique is easy to implement. Searching for a competitive edge the industry has been long developing solutions to achieve better results. On the last decades, significant development has been done with the advent of new equipments, electronics, portable computers and software. Continuous scanning and wireless detection systems are examples of successful field solutions, while new software aid on reporting and data presentation. However the type and quality of the results itself has not dramatically changed since its beginning. A scan profile is simple to understand, although the process to build it can be very complex as it requires a specific blend of knowledge and abilities. Process engineering, chemical engineering, internal hydraulic project, nuclear engineering and field abilities are pre requisites for of any scan specialist. Correct data gathering, interpretation and reporting are abilities often difficult to match or requires a long time of training. The industry faces a similar difficult on the customer side, as it is always necessary to train end users to understand a report and how to use its best. This paper describes our effort on developing a new approach on the gamma scan test using image reconstruction techniques that would result on a graphic image rather than a XY plot. Direct and easier to understand, a report with graphic images would be also be accessible to a wider audience, not limited to the customers experienced with gamma scan interpretation.展开更多

The inner SiC coating with thickness varying from 150 to 300 μm was initially coated by...To protect carbon/carbon (C/C) composites from oxidation, a SiC coating modified with SiO2 was prepared by a complex technology. The inner SiC coating with thickness varying from 150 to 300 μm was initially coated by chemical vapor reaction (CVR): a simple and cheap technique to prepare the SiC coating via siliconizing the substrate that was exposed to the mixed vapor (Si and SiO2) at high temperatures (1 923?2 273 K). Then the as-prepared coating was processed by a dipping and drying procedure with tetraethoxysilane as source materials to form SiO2 to fill the cracks and holes. Oxidation tests show that, after oxidation in air at 1 623 K for 10 h and thermal cycling between 1 623 K and room temperature 5 times, the mass loss of the CVR coated sample is up to 18.21%, while the sample coated with modified coating is only 5.96%, exhibiting an obvious improvement of oxidation and thermal shock resistance of the coating. The mass loss of the modified sample is mainly contributed to the reaction of C/C substrate with oxygen diffusing through the penetrating cracks formed in thermal shock tests.展开更多

Different from metamaterials, the metasurfaces change the electromagnetic waves mainly by exploiting the boundary conditions, rath...Metasurfaces are artificially structured thin films with unusual properties on demand. Different from metamaterials, the metasurfaces change the electromagnetic waves mainly by exploiting the boundary conditions, rather than the constitutive parameters in three dimensional(3D) spaces. Despite the intrinsic similarities in the operational principles, there is not a universal theory available for the understanding and design of metasurface-based devices. In this article, we propose the concept of metasurface waves(M-waves) and provide a general theory to describe the principles of them. Most importantly, it is shown that the M-waves share some fundamental properties such as extremely short wavelength, abrupt phase change and strong chromatic dispersion, which make them different from traditional bulk waves. It is shown that these properties can enable many important applications such as subwavelength imaging and lithography, planar optical devices, broadband anti-reflection, absorption and polarization conversion. Our results demonstrated unambiguously that traditional laws of diffraction, refraction, reflection and absorption should be revised by using the novel properties of M-waves. The theory provided here may pave the way for the design of new electromagnetic devices and further improvement of metasurfaces. The exotic properties of metasurfaces may also form the foundations for two new sub-disciplines called "subwavelength surface electromagnetics" and "subwavelength electromagnetics".展开更多

The functionalisation is achieved by...We report a functionalisation strategy which is able to generate Ricinus communis agglutinin 1 (RCA 120) modified PMMA microfluidic device for binding and culturing living cells. The functionalisation is achieved by standard aminealdehyde (Schiff base) reaction through the crosslinker, glutaraldehyde. To prove the ability of the RCA 120 modified PMMA surface, the PC 12 cell line (rat pheochromocytoma ceils) has been captured and cultured by the microfluidic device. In the presence of tunicamycin, the dose/timedependence on decreasing of binding affinity of RCA 120 modified device with PC 12 cell is also observed. The experimental results demonstrate that the lectin-functionalized microfluidic device can be employed as efficient cell culturing platform, and has a great promise of being used as a powerful tool for monitoring the interaction of drug with living cell.展开更多

With a very simple concept, the technique is easy to implement. Searching for a competitive edge the industry has been long developing solutions to achieve better results. On the last decades, significant development has been done with the advent of new equipments, electronics, portable computers and software. Continuous scanning and wireless detection systems are examples of successful field solutions, while new software aid on reporting and data presentation. However the type and quality of the results itself has not dramatically changed since its beginning. A scan profile is simple to understand, although the process to build it can be very complex as it requires a specific blend of knowledge and abilities. Process engineering, chemical engineering, internal hydraulic project, nuclear engineering and field abilities are pre requisites for of any scan specialist. Correct data gathering, interpretation and reporting are abilities often difficult to match or requires a long time of training. The industry faces a similar difficult on the customer side, as it is always necessary to train end users to understand a report and how to use its best. This paper describes our effort on developing a new approach on the gamma scan test using image reconstruction techniques that would result on a graphic image rather than a XY plot. Direct and easier to understand, a report with graphic images would be also be accessible to a wider audience, not limited to the customers experienced with gamma scan interpretation.

文摘To protect carbon/carbon (C/C) composites from oxidation, a SiC coating modified with SiO2 was prepared by a complex technology. The inner SiC coating with thickness varying from 150 to 300 μm was initially coated by chemical vapor reaction (CVR): a simple and cheap technique to prepare the SiC coating via siliconizing the substrate that was exposed to the mixed vapor (Si and SiO2) at high temperatures (1 923?2 273 K). Then the as-prepared coating was processed by a dipping and drying procedure with tetraethoxysilane as source materials to form SiO2 to fill the cracks and holes. Oxidation tests show that, after oxidation in air at 1 623 K for 10 h and thermal cycling between 1 623 K and room temperature 5 times, the mass loss of the CVR coated sample is up to 18.21%, while the sample coated with modified coating is only 5.96%, exhibiting an obvious improvement of oxidation and thermal shock resistance of the coating. The mass loss of the modified sample is mainly contributed to the reaction of C/C substrate with oxygen diffusing through the penetrating cracks formed in thermal shock tests.

文摘Hydroxyapatite coatings were directly prepared on anodized titanium by electro-deposition method in a modified simulated body fluid.The configuration,structure and bioactivity of the coating were investigated with scanning electron microscopy(SEM),X-ray diffraction analyzer(XRD)and Fourier transform infrared spectros-copy(FTIR)techniques.The results demonstrated that pure and homogeneous hydroxyapatite coating can be obtained without any post-treatment.The prepared coating showed good bioactivity in simulated body fluid(SBF).The time required for a fully covered dense hydroxyapatite coatings was 4 days immersion in SBF.

文摘Metasurfaces are artificially structured thin films with unusual properties on demand. Different from metamaterials, the metasurfaces change the electromagnetic waves mainly by exploiting the boundary conditions, rather than the constitutive parameters in three dimensional(3D) spaces. Despite the intrinsic similarities in the operational principles, there is not a universal theory available for the understanding and design of metasurface-based devices. In this article, we propose the concept of metasurface waves(M-waves) and provide a general theory to describe the principles of them. Most importantly, it is shown that the M-waves share some fundamental properties such as extremely short wavelength, abrupt phase change and strong chromatic dispersion, which make them different from traditional bulk waves. It is shown that these properties can enable many important applications such as subwavelength imaging and lithography, planar optical devices, broadband anti-reflection, absorption and polarization conversion. Our results demonstrated unambiguously that traditional laws of diffraction, refraction, reflection and absorption should be revised by using the novel properties of M-waves. The theory provided here may pave the way for the design of new electromagnetic devices and further improvement of metasurfaces. The exotic properties of metasurfaces may also form the foundations for two new sub-disciplines called "subwavelength surface electromagnetics" and "subwavelength electromagnetics".

文摘Techniques for fabricating solution-processed zinc oxide(ZnO)-based thin-film transistors(TFTs)are feasible with solution using various routes.Here,ZnO TFTs were fabricated via sol-gel method using zinc acetate as the starting reagent with different modifiers and solvents.The ZnO thin-film semiconductors with well-controlled,preferential crystal orientation and densely packed ZnO crystals can be prepared with the optimized fabrication conditions,exhibiting excellent field-effect far exceeding those of hydrogenated amorphous silicon(a-Si:H).However,the field-effect characteristics of ZnO TFTs were different for different precursor systems which were constituted by zinc acetate,modifiers and solvents.The co-modification of acetoin and monoethanolamine for the precursor system exhibited higher extent of crystal orientation and field-effect.The maximum mobility of 7.65 cm2V-1s-1 and current on-to-off ratio of^105–106 have been obtained.

文摘We report a functionalisation strategy which is able to generate Ricinus communis agglutinin 1 (RCA 120) modified PMMA microfluidic device for binding and culturing living cells. The functionalisation is achieved by standard aminealdehyde (Schiff base) reaction through the crosslinker, glutaraldehyde. To prove the ability of the RCA 120 modified PMMA surface, the PC 12 cell line (rat pheochromocytoma ceils) has been captured and cultured by the microfluidic device. In the presence of tunicamycin, the dose/timedependence on decreasing of binding affinity of RCA 120 modified device with PC 12 cell is also observed. The experimental results demonstrate that the lectin-functionalized microfluidic device can be employed as efficient cell culturing platform, and has a great promise of being used as a powerful tool for monitoring the interaction of drug with living cell.

文摘Small-sized axial fans are used as air cooler for electric equipments.But there is a strong demand for higher power of fans according to the increase of quantity of heat from electric devices.Therefore,higher rotational speed design is conducted,although,it causes the deterioration of efficiency and the increase of noise.Then,the adoption of contra-rotating rotors for the small-sized axial fan is proposed for the improvement of performance.In the case of contra-rotating rotors,it is necessary to design the rotor considering the unsteady flow condition of each front and rear rotor.In the present paper,the fan performance of the contra-rotating small-sized axial fan with 100mm diameter at a designed and a partial flow rates is shown,and the unsteady flow conditions at the inlet and the outlet of each front and rear rotor are clarified with unsteady numerical results.Furthermore,the relation between the performance and the unsteady flow condition of the contra-rotating small-sized axial fan is discussed and the methods to improve the performance are considered.
