In this paper, the amplification factor (ks ) of peek ground motion with different exceedance probability in class Ⅱ and Ⅲ sites over Shandong Province was estimated by analyzing the seismic response data of soil ...In this paper, the amplification factor (ks ) of peek ground motion with different exceedance probability in class Ⅱ and Ⅲ sites over Shandong Province was estimated by analyzing the seismic response data of soil layers collected from 358 boreholes of class Ⅱ sites and 140 boreholes of class Ⅲ site. From the results, one can conclude that: (1) The scatter plot of ks generally obeys a normal distribution ; (2) ks decreases with the increase of the strength of input ground motion, which is more apparent in Class Ⅲ site than in class lI site; (3) for class Ⅱ site, with the increase of depth of the bedrock interface where ground motion inputs, ks increases gradually until to a stable value when the depth reaches up to approximately 20 meters or larger. Yet, for class Ⅲ site, ks is insensitive to the depth; (4) the average of ks for class Ⅱ site is 1.47, slightly larger than that used in the Seismic Ground Motion Parameters Zonation Map of China ( GB 18306-2001 ). Also, ks in class Ⅱ and Ⅲ sites at different levels of peak ground acceleration over Shandong Province is preliminarily discussed in the paper.展开更多

The study of climate- vegetation interaction is the basis for res...Net Primary Productivity (NPP) is an important parameter, which is closely connected with global climate change, the global carbon balance and cycle. The study of climate- vegetation interaction is the basis for research on the responses of terrestrial ecosystemto global change and mainly comprises two important components: climate vegetation classification and the NPP of the natural vegetation. Comparing NPP estimated from the classification indices-based model with NPP derived from measurements at 3767 sites in China indicated that the classification indices-based model was capable of estimating large scale NPP. Annual cumulative temperature above 0~C and a moisture index, two main factors affecting NPP, were spatially plotted with the ArcGIS grid tool based on measured data in 2348 meteorological stations from 1961 to 2006. The distribution of NPP for potential vegetation classes under present climate conditions was simulated by the classification indices-based model. The model estimated the total NPP of potential terrestrial vegetation of China to fluctuate between 1.93 and 4.54 Pg C year-1. It pro- vides a reliable means for scaling-up from site to regional scales, and the findings could potentially favor China's position in reducing global warming gases as outlined in the Kyoto Protocol in order to fulfill China's commitment of reducing greenhouse gases.展开更多
An approach of multiple-frequency millimeter-wave(mm-wave)signal generation is proposed for radio-over-fiber(RoF)system with multiple-frequency basestations(MFBSs).Two groups of orthogonally polarized signals are inje...An approach of multiple-frequency millimeter-wave(mm-wave)signal generation is proposed for radio-over-fiber(RoF)system with multiple-frequency basestations(MFBSs).Two groups of orthogonally polarized signals are injected into a semiconductor optical amplifier(SOA),and subsequently ten new different wavelengths are generated via four-wave mix-ing(FWM)effect.At each MFBS,different wavelengths are filtered out using demultiplexer and then input to a photodiode(PD)to generate the mm-wave signals with the frequencies from 52 GHz to 68 GHz at the interval of 2 GHz.Simulation results verify that the proposed multiple-frequency generation for MFBS RoF system can work properly.展开更多
