Both Arc GIS 9.2 and ERDAS 9.1 software were used to analyze the concentrations in radiation exposure of marshlands in southern Iraq during June 2009 and January 2010. It was measured radiation exposure rates above the soil and water surface, and also measured radioactivity in the environmental models (soil, plants, sediment and water) for all the selected sites of the study area. Furthermore, it has" been measuring the level of radioactive contamination concentration of the isotope Bi-214 and Ac-228 and K-40 as well as peer-Cs-137-resulting from the operations of nuclear fission and measured the background radiation compared with other regions. Environmental samples (soil-water-plant-deposits) were taken and measuring the concentration ratio of radioisotopes in using the system account gentle rays Kama multi-channel and using the counter--Nal-tinged element--thallium--Type-WIZARD-1470 as well as a LB 1200. A Record of Anthropogenic Effects on Sedimentation in the Manatee River, Florida

Increased sedimentation rates have been attributed to increased anthropogenic activity in watersheds throughout Florida and many parts of the world. The Manatee River, located on the west coast of Florida (USA), like many other coastal watersheds, has experienced depletion in natural resources, increased nutrient loading, and increased pollution. LARs (linear accumulation rates) from watersheds throughout Florida suggest that anthropogenic activity increased bulk sedimentation by as much as 4-fold. The objective of this study was to construct a record of sedimentation and improve upon previous studies by determining individual sedimentary constituent MARs (mass accumulation rates) based on short lived radioisotopes (2~~pb and 234Th) to characterize changes in sedimentation attributed to increased anthropogenic development. This study constructed records of sedimentary accumulation rates to compare pre-development records to the past 100 years of anthropogenic development and identified specific changes in sedimentation attributed to anthropogenic activity. Anthropogenic development increased deposition of terrigenous material into the river from 2-fold to I 0-fold (0.3-2.0 g/cm2/yr) over three periods: (1) predevelopment period (1900-1941); (2) agricultural development period (1941-1970); (3) urban development period (1970-2010). The mobilization of this amount of terrigenous material has implications for effects on water quality and biological communities within the river. 展开更多

The dynamics of taurine transport across membrane of normal heart cells and changes after infectionwere examined by using radioactive isotope tracing techniques. The results demonstrated that: (1)two uptake systems of taurine with different affinities and capacities were present in the Plasma membrane of cul-tured rat cardiOmyocytes,the K. of high and low affinity were 9. 5 X 10-5mol/l, and l. 3 X 1 O 2 mol/l,,respectively; (2)taurine transport across membrane was sodium-dependent with a positive linear relationshipbetween amount of taurine influx and extracellular concentration of sOdium;in addition,it was alsO regulat-ed by osmOlarity; (3) fyalanine,a carboxylic analog of taurine,could inhibit the uptake of taurine in dosedependently; (4)taurine influx was decreased in cultured rat cardiomyocytes after infected with CVB3. (5)the lnhibition ratio of taurine transport was enhanced as the infected time prolonged. A resourceability on nuclear fuel cycle by transmutation of fission products in the spent fuel of nuclear reactors is discussed in this paper to investigate the feasibility of "creation and utilization" of Apr6s ORIENT from Adv.-ORIENT cycle, in which chemical "separation and utilization" of nuclear rare metals (platinum group metals, Mo, Tc, rare earth, etc.) has been proposed since FY2006. Apr6s ORIENT research program was newly initiated in FY2011 for nuclear transmutation of fission products into stable or short-lived highly-valuable elements. In the resourceability of rare earth metals from fission products, non-radioactive Nd and Dy can be created from Pr and Tb, respectively, by transmutation. Especially, the Dy creation has relatively high feasibility of about 10-20 %/y in creation rate. A proper moderation of neutrons in blanket of fast reactors may be required to provide a high creation rate of La from Ba. In light platinum group metals, non-radioactive Ru can be created from Tc by transmutation, of which creation rate is about 4-5 %/y in blanket of fast reactors. Pd created from Rh is almost non-radioactively depending on the isotope fraction of 107pd. Rh creation from Ru is not feasible under the neutron irradiation of typical nuclear reactors. 展开更多
