A numerical study based on the finite volume method has been performed to study the three-dimension natural convection in a parallelogrammic top side opened cavity filled nanofluid with partially heated square at the bottom side.Results are obtained for different governing parameters such as nanoparticle concentration (φ) from 0 to 0.05,inclination angle of the back and front walls (α) from 5° to 75°,Rayleigh number from 10^3 to 10^5,and length of heater changer from 0.1 to 1.The main finding from the obtained result showed that the inclination angle and nanoparticle volume fraction affect the flow structure and enhance the heat transfer. 展开更多

Administrative Urbanization and City-making in Post-reform China: A Case Study of Ordos City, Inner Mongolia 被引量:4

In post-reform China, local governments, instead of the central state, have become major promoters of urbanization. Differing from the existing literature based on Western theories, this article argues that a localized perspective, ‘administrative urbanization', can provide a contextual explanation for the mechanism of urbanization in the reform era. The case study of Ordos indicates that new town construction, especially in the inland area, has become the main strategy for investment attraction and economic development. The local government has played a dominant role in this construction through a series of administrative measures, including avoidance of central state regulations, land leasing, high standard infrastructure construction, relocation policies and industrial attraction. This article also explores the issue of unsustainability in the new town, and identifies that underdeveloped industrialization, slow population agglomeration and real estate bubbles are primary threats to the sustainability of administrative urbanization. 展开更多

Traditionally, microclimate, behavior and space design are characterized by a separation among climatologists, behavior researchers and designers. It is also unrealizable to apply the research results to the space design because of the gap created by the interdisciplinarity. In addition, although the relationships among space form, urban microclimate and people are intuitively understood, there are still not reasonable predictions on how a space affects the microclimate, and how the microclimate and space will affect people's sensation and behavior. By recording the microclimate and people's responses, this paper discusses the relationship between people's sensation and microclimate as well as people's behavior and open space in a busy downtown pedestrian street during hot summer. The research finds that shade plays a crucial role in outdoor comfort. All of the other objectively comfortable and acceptable microclimates differ significantly different shade situation. Simultaneously, space contradiction can be considered an essential factor for spatial utilization. This paper also provides proposal on canyon open space design based on this case study. 展开更多

Through data fitting of the in situ observation, the models of gas seepage, diffusion and air-leakage in the goaf were established in ascending mining. The ComputationFluid Dynamics software Fluent was used to simulate the air-leakage law of the goaf. Theresults of the numerical simulation provide a basis for the use of the technology of ventilation and fire prevention in the working face of an ascending mining, which ensures thesafety in production in the working face of the top-coal caving for 3_down coal seam in theJisan Coalmine. 展开更多

Comparative experiments of gas drainage in different types of drillings

Comparative experiment of gas drainage in different types of drillings s... Gas drainage effect is the utmost important factor for mining speed and mining safety. It has great meaning to study the effect of gas drainage. Comparative experiment of gas drainage in different types of drillings shows that the initial rate of gas natural emission by hydraulic loosed cross drilling is 1.5 times more than that of parallel drilling, and the drilling gas at- tenuation coefficients reduces to 0.78 times, the effect of gas drainage is good. The ultimate quantity of gas drainage of parallel drilling, cross drilling, hydraulic loosed cross drilling are 859.1, 1 323.5 and 1 833.6 m3/100 m. The results of the measurement through these three kinds of drillings of 100 meters drilling is considered as following: cross drilling is 1.54 times more than that of parallel drillings, hydraulic loosed cross drilling are 2.13 times more than parallel drilling. The drainage rate of parallel drilling, cross drilling and hydraulic loosed cross drilling reached 10% to 15% in 3 months with the pre-draining time. Among these, the drainage effect of hydraulic loosed cross drilling increased by 46% than that of parallel drilling in three months. 展开更多

The core problem of dynamical systems is to study the asymptotic behaviors of orbits and their topological structures. It is well known that the orbits with certain recurrence and generating ergodic (or invariant) measures are important, such orbits form a full measure set for all invariant measures of the system, its closure is called the measure center of the system. To investigate this set, Zhou introduced the notions of weakly almost periodic point and quasi-weakly almost periodic point in 1990s, and presented some open problems on complexity of discrete dynamical systems in 2004. One of the open problems is as follows: for a quasi-weakly almost periodic point but not weakly almost periodic, is there an invariant measure generated by its orbit such that the support of this measure is equal to its minimal center of attraction (a closed invariant set which attracts its orbit statistically for every point and has no proper subset with this property)? Up to now, the problem remains open. In this paper, we construct two points in the one-sided shift system of two symbols, each of them generates a sub-shift system. One gives a positive answer to the question above, the other answers in the negative. Thus we solve the open problem completely. More important, the two examples show that a proper quasi-weakly almost periodic orbit behaves very differently with weakly almost periodic orbit. 展开更多

Two experimental tests of three-storied reinforced concrete structural walls having large openings were performed.Based on an original macro model,a multiple modified macro-model was proposed to develop a simple method to design a reinforced concrete structural wall with large openings and various opening locations.The interaction between reinforcement ties and concrete struts formed along the perimeter of openings was neglected in the original model.However,the strut-and-tie node was proposed to take account of such interaction in the proposed model.The predicted behavior of two specimens using such a proposed model was compared with the experimental results.It is shown that the behavior of structural walls with large openings could be modeled well using the proposed model.Moreover,the study indicates that the proposed model is applicable even in cases of multi-story structural walls having large openings and various opening locations. 展开更多
