The influences of intense magnetic pinch effect caused by electromagnetic field with high frequency on discharge channel expansion and plasma configuration change are discussed. The change of Lorentz force exerting on charged particles in discharge channel is calculated under the electromagnetic field with high frequency. Through the theoretical analysis and experimental study, the forming process of discharge channel is conjectured. And it is considered that the changes of discharge channel, such as the decrease of diameter and increase of energy density, coming from the intense magnetic pinch effect in high frequency electromagnetic field, are the main reasons for a series of special phenomena on the machined surface in micro EDM. 展开更多

The emission of CuInSe2-based spark discharge plasma at atmospheric pressure in air has been investigated by optical emission spectroscopy method. The plasma was formed by action of the high voltage pulse generator (with nanosecond pulse) on the corresponding electrodes (CulnSe2 compound). The emission characteristics have been obtained for the spark discharge plasma at 3 mm interelectrode distance. It was established that the spark discharge plasma radiation was determined by decay products of the compound from which electrodes were made. The most suitable spectral lines for plasma diagnostics is atomic copper lines in the visible spectrum and atomic indium lines in UV (ultraviolet) and visible spectrum. 展开更多

Self-adaptive fuzzy controller with formulary rule for servo control of discharge gap in Micro EDM 被引量:2

In micro electrical discharge machining (micro EDM), it is difficult for servo controlling the narrow discharge gap with the characters of non-linear and quick change. In this paper, aiming at solving the problems above, a self-adaptive fuzzy controller with formulary rule (SAFCFR) is presented based on the dual feedbacks composed by gap electric signal and discharge-ratio statistics. To ensure the properties of self-optimizing and fast stabilization, the formulary rule was designed with a tuning factor. In addition, the fast-convergence algorithms were introduced to adjust control target center and output scale factor. In this way, the normal discharge ratio can tend to the highest value during micro-EDM process. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithms are effective in improving the servo-control performance. According to the drilling-micro-EDM experiments, the machining efficiency is improved by 20% through applying SAFCFR. Moreover, SAFCFR is a prompt way to optimize parameters of discharge-gap servo control. 展开更多

The breakdown voltage of long air-gaps in high-voltage transmission systems depends on not only the waveform of the applied voltage, but also the atmospheric conditions. Based on the results of the research project on the minimum air clearance for 800-kV HVDC substations at high altitudes, and also on the monthly and yearly statistics of the atmospheric data of last ten years and the altitude correction of the atmospheric data of last ten years, the altitude correction of the air-gaps for the 800-kV DC system under plan, 500-kV AC system to be built, and 1000-kV AC system under plan in the Inner Mongolia Plateau and the Yungui Plateau in China were studied with parameter G method. Correction factors for switching and lightning impulses were calculatod and then compared with those achieved according to IEC 71. It is shown that IEC 71 is appropriate for damp regions, and correction factors differ between plateau regions in China because of different atmospheric conditions. 展开更多

In this paper, an experimental study on combustion characteristics and emissions of a single cylinder spark ignition engine fueled with coal-mine methane (CMM) is investigated under various loads. CMM is simulated by the compressed nature gas( CNG)/nitrogen blend fuels. Based on experiment results, it is shown that under 0% - 35% nitrogen volume fraction in CNG/nitrogen blends, the maximum cylinder pressure, the maximum rate of pressure rise and the rate of heat release decrease, the flame propagation period increases, the center of heat release curve is closed to the top dead centre (TDC)markedly with the increase of nitrogen volume fraction. Meanwhile, the hydrocarbon (HC), CO emissions increase, the NOx emission decreases apparently with the increase of nitrogen volume fraction. 展开更多

In this paper the main technical data of the high speed camera(HSFC-PRO),components of gas triggered switch and the primary experimental results of the breakdown of gas triggered switch using high speed camera are introduced.Four photographs totaling in 24 nanoseconds in single trigger mode manifest that the breakdown consists of two phases,which are the breakdowns of the trigger electrode with positive and negative electrode successively. This phenomenon is consist with the electric field distribution simulation result with the help of the software ANSYS. Eight photographs in double trigger mode prove that the breakdown time of the gas triggered switch is above 10.5 microseconds.The elementary results show that high speed camera is a very efficient apparatus to study the discharge characteristics.This optical measuring technique is helpful to profoundly study the breakdown of high voltage switch. More studies and experiments would be continued in future. 展开更多

In this study, an electro-mechanical valve (EMV) system for the intake valve ofa fottr stroke, single cylinder, overhead valve and spark ignition (SI) engine was designed and constructed. An engine with the EMV system and a standard engine were tested to observe the effects of the EMV on engine performance and emissions at different speeds under full load. The EMV engine showed improved engine power, engine torque and break specific fuel consumption (BSFC). A 66% decrease in CO emissions was also obtained with the EMV system, but hydrocarbons (HC) and NOx emissions increased by 12% and 13% respectively. 展开更多
