Results from the output-oriented BCC model show that Treatment 4 ( 600 mg of zidovudine plus 400 mg of didanosine plus 400 mg of nevirapine) is particularly efficient for age group 14—25, but not efficient for the older age groups; Treatment 1 (600 mg of zidovudine alternating monthly with 400 mg of didanosine)and Treatment 2 (600 mg of zidovudine plus 2.25 mg of zalcitabine) are efficient for the age groups 35—45 and 45— ; age group 25—35 does not have a particularly efficient treatment, but Treatments 1 and 2 are relatively good. The cost efficiency BCC model, which takes the treatment cost into account, gives similar results as the output-oriented model. Results from the indirect output-oriented BCC model, which allows the replacement among medicines, show that the efficiency of Treatment 2 has greatly decreased compared with that of the output-oriented model, and a set of optimal medicine amounts for different age groups is obtained.展开更多

Based on the three dimensional finite element analysis of seepage control with dry area virtual flow constant mesh analysis method, the rationality of the seepage control measures of dam abutment and underground powerhouse has been verified and the key factors affecting the effect of seepage have been compared. In combination with the curtain of dam abutment, the curtain of underground powerhouse is reasonable. The results showed that the steel liner of penstock after the curtain is necessary.展开更多
Objective:The aim of our study was to perform a systematic review and meta-analysis of the efficacy of short-term protocols for Helicobacter pylori eradication and to review the safety and adverse profiles of these er...Objective:The aim of our study was to perform a systematic review and meta-analysis of the efficacy of short-term protocols for Helicobacter pylori eradication and to review the safety and adverse profiles of these eradication protocols.Methods:Literatures were located through electronic searches by PubMed,Medline,ISI Web of Knowledge,and Cochrane Library using the relevant terms.Abstracts of important meetings were searched manually in some journal supplements.Additional bibliographies were identified from the reference lists of identified studies.Three independent reviewers systemically identified randomized controlled trials(RCTs) comparing short-duration protocols vs.7-d proton pump inhibitor(PPI)-based triple protocols,as well as studies reporting eradication rates of short-duration protocols for H.pylori.Summary effect size was calculated as relative risk(RR) and 95% confidence intervals(CI) using Review Manager 4.2,and P<0.05 was defined as statistically significant in all analyses.Results:Among 90 abstracts retrieved,15 studies were analyzed,including a total of 30 treatment regimens with 1856 subjects.Mean intention-to-treat(ITT) cure rates of 63.2% and 81.3% were achieved with short-term protocols and 7-d PPI-containing protocols,respectively.Per-protocol(PP)-based overall cure rates were 66.6% and 86.1%,respectively.Short-term therapy was inferior to 7-d triple regimen(P<0.00001).After sub-analysis,however,comparing the effects of ≥3-d protocols and 7-d triple protocols,the cumulative ITT RR was 0.95(P=0.26),and PP RR was 0.95(P=0.10),without significant heterogeneity.Moreover,slightly fewer adverse-effects were found in short-term protocols.Conclusions:Although more economical,short-duration protocols are inferior to 7-d PPI-based triple protocols with regarding to eradication rate of H.pylori.Protocols of more than 3 d,however,may be equivalent to 7-d protocols.展开更多

This systematic review included randomized controlled trials(RCTs) of acupuncture taking non-penetrating sham acupuncture as placebo needle. Systematic searches were conducted in 13 electronic databases up to July 2012: Medline, PubMed, the Cochrane Library, CINAHL, EMBASE, a Chinese medical database. All parallel or cross-over RCTs of acupuncture for the blinding effect of non-penetrating needle were chosen without language restrictions. Finally, totally 7 RCTs met the inclusion criteria. In conclusion, our systematic review and meta-analysis demonstrate that the non-penetrating needle is an effective instrument for placebo control in the acupuncture RCTs.展开更多
The acoustic cloak can manipulate sound waves in surprising ways and enable us to guide the trajectories of waves at will.In contrast to the existing approaches for designing such devices that need exotic material par...The acoustic cloak can manipulate sound waves in surprising ways and enable us to guide the trajectories of waves at will.In contrast to the existing approaches for designing such devices that need exotic material parameters,here we demonstrate how to design a layered and isotropic acoustic cloak based on conformal transformation acoustics.A petal-shaped layered acoustic cloak is designed from the reduction of material parameters of an approximate rectangular cloak.The resultant material parameters span a narrow range,thus strongly facilitating the implementation.The invisibility performance of the cloak for different shapes of acoustic wavefront is verified using a full-wave finite-element analysis.展开更多
