Learning strategies training in classroom teaching

In contemporary English teaching, the study of English learning strategies has become one of the main concerns in teachers＇ teaching and research processes. The necessity of implementation of learning strategies training in the field of English teaching practice still remains disputable. This essay first introduces the different reactions towards the field; then advances the idea of combining English teaching strategies with English learning strategies attempting the implementation of learning strategies training in the classroom teaching. Finally, some thinking produced in the process of practicing the strategies training is raised to reexamine this teaching mode.

Language Transfer in Chinese EFL Writing

Language transfer has been a key issue in applied linguistics, second language acquisition, and language teaching for at least a century. Within the last few decades, however, its importance has been reassessed several times. The paper focuses on the phenomena of language transfer in Chinese EFL writing, expecting to provide implications for Chinese English learners and teachers.

Practical use of task design in oral English teaching： Focus on task types

The implication of Task-Based Language Teaching （TBLT） in oral English teaching continues to draw attention of language teachers and researchers. This paper will survey issues at the core of TBLT, with particular emphasis on the six task types in Jane Willis＇ theory. Following a brief introduction of TBLT, the six types of task will be reviewed and its practical use in oral English teaching will be explored. Finally, the paper will point out some problems in TBLT, mainly focus on task and its design.

IPA Cardinal Vowels and the English Pronunciation Teaching in China

In pronunciation teaching, learners may have difficulty when there is a ＂gap＂ in the phonemic system between L1 （the first or native language） and L2 （the second or foreign language）. In such a case, they tend to use their native language sounds in speaking the foreign language. Since some Chinese and English vowel sounds are easy to be confused, applying IPA cardinal vowels in the teaching of English pronunciation will help Chinese learners identify the difference between an English vowel sound and a Chinese vowel sound and thus enables them to make intelligible English speech sounds.

Reflections on Basic Skill Training in Piano Teaching

By analyzing several effective finger practices, it is possible to consolidate the basic skills to help students adjust and establish a good touch mode. This is an important pre-requisite for pursuing strength and speed during playing. The training method can be targeted to solve some common problems, and guide students to consciously feel the touch and the change of tone, listening with ears, controlling with fingers to achieve solid and soft balanced unity.

Study on reading strategies in college English teaching： Top-down or bottom-up？

Reading comprehension ability is one of the key abilities trained in College English teaching in China. This paper first examines the theories behind top-down and bottom-up reading strategies, and then suggests top-down reading strategies are more effective than the bottom-up ones in training EFL learners to be efficient readers in English. In particular, taking into account the English proficiency and the cognitive ability of the Chinese university students （non-English major）, the author argues that more priorities should be given to the top-down reading strategies training in EFL reading class.

Teacher-Pupil Relationship in Implementing Modem Teaching Technologies

In the article, the features of using modern teaching tecnologies are investigated and results are revealed. The establishment of teacher-pupil relationships based on comfortable mutual trust and equal rights is the direct effect of proper and expedient use of innovative training technologies. Teaching technologies＇ features are explored, experiment examples are listed, and all these results are analysed in this article. In the article, modem teaching technologies＇ characteristic features are explored and the need of these features in teaching process with the teacher-pupil relationship is substantiated. Some conclusions were made to analyse all these points.

On the Practice of Pedagogic Corpus Linguistics With Secondary School Iranian English Language Learners

The gap between the theories of second language acquisition and their practice in materials development has been a controversial issue in the field of applied linguistics. Recently, the findings of corpus linguistics have narrowed the gap. However, their practice, especially in the realm of vocabulary acquisition, has encountered pedagogic problems in the classroom because the authentic nature of the words in corpus-based examples was beyond the level of learners＇ comprehension which paves the way for the practice of pedagogic corpus linguistics. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to practice pedagogic corpus linguistics, and mainly data-driven learning, with the first year secondary school English language learners in Iran in terms of their vocabulary acquisition. To do so, 28 students participated in the study. Examples from the British National Corpus for the main words of each unit of their course book, Prospect 1, were presented to them in a course of 16 sessions. Those which were beyond their understanding were eliminated and those comprehensible for them, the pedagogic ones, were selected based on their reports regarding the comprehensibility of each corpus-based example.

Innovation and development about dual process control of English writing training

Insights Into Pedagogical Aspects of E-Learning

The author＇s intention is to study pedagogical aspects of e-learning on a larger scale--to look at them on the world scale, through the articles published in the proceedings of the conferences which take place regularly in different countries of the world, and to look at not only the instructors＇ attitude but also the business people＇s point of view toward such a form of study as e-learning is, and to illuminate the necessity of the instructors＇ encouragement in Latvia and other countries as well to use e-learning as a new approach to the study process or only as a new form of study. The author also tries to draw Latvian instructors＇ attention to the form of foreign educators＇ publications on the topic in a modest and inconspicuous way in order to encourage discussion.

College Coaching Legends

Everyone has his heroes, like the college coaches, many of them play a important role in our college life, and they hve a legendary life here at the same time. In America, college student pay attention to NCAA （National Collegiate Athletic Association）, there are many famous coaches in it, such as Nich Saban, Jerry Tarkanian, and more. The authors are very interested in the competitive life of those who are the top five coaches in the world. So the authors concentrate on the winning rate, the contribution rate, and the cycle of the honors to evaluate each coach, by standardizing the metrics, they get the final scores of each metric for basketball; according to the scores, they get the top five coaches in a century. And in this paper, the authors also take the gender and timeline into account.

Experiencing Business English in Community-Based Projects

With more emphasis on the communicative and pragmatic function of Business English learning, the author discusses a case study of a Business English course based on projects conducted by the students in their community This curriculum aims at students experiencing and implementing their knowledge of Business and English in the real business environments, engaging community in the process, and avoiding isolation and separation of business English teaching and learning from communities. The research lays more importance on the students＇ experiencing and participating process by providing them with a series of guidelines as reference and assessment, but meanwhile the students have their freedom of choices and decision-making in many aspects. Integrative skills are practiced including linguistic skills, business-related skills, communicative skills, and technology-related skills. Specifically, the students are required to conduct a mini market research in their community. The topic of the research is negotiated, classified, and grouped in the entire class until each individual student belongs to a group. The project procedure and requirements are given to the students on weekly basis, including field of research, questionnaire, data collection and analysis, report, and the final group presentation. Based on their experience from the research, the students write down their reflections. Based on the observation of the instructor and students＇ feedback, the research found that students＇ expectations and teacher＇s roles varied in a number of aspects. A variety of knowledge and skills have been practiced. Problems have also been found in each step of the project.

Guidance of CET Translation Test for College English Teaching Reform

An Empirical Study on the Effectiveness of Language Learning Strategy Training for Chinese Adult English Learners

This paper explores how to implement effective strategy training for part-time Chinese adult English learners in a tertiary FLT （Foreign Language Teaching） classroom. Through a study of threx~ semesters during which six sessions of learner training workshops and constant, integrated task-based instruction were carried out, empirical evidence was collected via the instrument of questionnaires, interviews, learners＇ regular written reports, and the findings indicate that： （1） The students reported a statistically significant increase of the overaU average frequency of language strategy use over all SILL （The Strategy Inventory for Language Learning） items with 2.95 at the beginning and 3.61 at the end; and （2） Well-organized, explicit, and discrete leaner training workshops combined with frequent, explicit, and integrated task-based strategy instruction are an effective and helpful way to improve learners＇ awareness, selection, and frequency of strategy use, which can further foster learner autonomy.

Interprofessional education in nursing: The impact of collaboration between physical and mental health care professionals

Objectives:lnterprofessional collaboration in the training of nursing and psychology students helps provide students of both disciplines with the ability and competences they need to best attend to their patients.This study implemented and analyzed a method for developing the competences of each discipline in a scenario of joint clinical simulation that incorporates mental and physical health simultaneously,and measured the caring ability of the participating students.Methods:Participants took a self-applied survey measuring their own caring ability.After,a clinical simulation was performed where nursing students performed clinical interviews on psychology students,who acted as standardized patients.Caring abilities were measured in the nursing students,and the psychology students implemented an intervention service measuring caring ability and brief-debrief simulation by coaching to nursing students.Results:The results indicated that the self-applied questionnaire of caring ability resulted in scores significantly higher than what was measured by observers.Conclusions:The results contribute to the development of protocols,training and collaborative work practices in interprofessional education,which allow the scaling of these competences.

Vocational Training and Basic Knowledge of the Mexican University Coach

This paper shows an overview of the academic and vocational training of the Mexican university coaches. Professional sports in Mexico are not sufficiently organized in all disciplines and the Olympic sporting system does not consider the university sports as a hotbed of world-class athletes. Coaches＇ academic and vocational training is one of the variables to analyze university-sporting level. A quantitative model was used to approach the topic through an adapted and validated version of a questionnaire used in Spanish populations. The sample consisted of 326 participant＇s coaches at the 2013 National Student Games. Among the findings, observed there are some aspects revealed related to the training, the domain of knowledge and the existing relationship between an empirical coach and a trained one. In conclusion, therefore, it is important to emphasize that the non-skilled trainer finds it difficult to achieve the optimum sport development, the fulfillment of the assigned tasks, the selection, the dosage, the linking of different means, and the assessment of achievement. According to the national sport level, the university trainer＇s profile neither allows the consolidation of practice nor these ages and sport levels.
