A Strategy to Strengthen the US Economy

For decades, the United States＇ competitive position in global manufacturing has steadily declined. Analysts point to increasingly automated manufacturing processes, changing domestic demand factors, outsourcing, and over confidence in service export surplnses. However, Asian and European competitors, undergoing the same pressures, have been able to maintain a healthy percentage of their GDP in manufacturing by growing high techjobs while the United States continues to fall behind, Perhaps the most flmdamental and overlooked contribution to this decline is the lackluster performance of the United States education system. After comparing the performance of US students to that of the other G-8 nations in the critical disciplines of math and science literacy, US students rank last. Furthermore, the most recent PISA test results show US students rank in the bottom half of 30 participating nations in the ability to apply math and science concepts to real world problems. This is particularly troubling when one considers that among the compared nations, the US spends the most on math and science teacher compensation. If the US intends to successfully compete in the global manufacturing arena, significant changes to the education system must be enacted. A new strategy aligning the system with real world demands should begin with a national initiative to increase Pre-K enrollments, a paradigm shift from liberal arts to math, science, problem solving and critical thinking, standardized policies aligning high school graduation requirements with college and work place expectations, and standardized college and career readiness assessment programs. These steps combined with more rigorous secondary education teacher certifications, continued education and involvement with universities and manufacturing f＇mns within the community, should more adeq^tely prepare high school students for further study or to enter the skilled workforce. At the post secondary level, federal and state funding should be targeted to R＆D programs specificly to industrial design, engineering, and alternative energy. Industry investment in such programs should be federally incentivized to foster cooperative relationships between business and academia. Such relationships will ensure faculty spend time focusing on how their discipline relates to manufacturing and instilling the necessary skill sets, knowledge and abilities which graduates will need to compete in the global market. Such a revised system will position the US to create and keep high paying manufacturing positions on its way to sustainable economic growth.

The Instructional Media for Different Levels in the Philippine Educational System

In the Philippines, the K＋I2 system is newly introduced and the readiness for its implementation undoubtedly made the teaching community confused and confounded. Thus, extra efforts are being done to upgrade and update all instructional materials. Even it＂ the Department of Education are preparing the faculty members through trainings, seminars and providing them with syllabus accompanying the new curriculum, still the confidence for the coming teaching assignments for the additional two years in the system is vet3.＇ Iow~ The faculty members are now strategizing teaching methodology for the subjects they have to handle through upgrading not only their knowledge but also the teaching materials they are to use in their classroom. With the changing environment, the learning style of students also advances. Children are now exposed to various modern gadgets, thus, they learn more advanced knowledge about their environment. These modern medium must be an advantage to the teaching profession. Teachers must know how and what the children learn through these medium and create some learning materials that will augment this knowledge in schools. This study is a partial analysis of the learning style of students in different levels of the educational system and the knowledge they acquire through different modern medium and test the gap between this and the knowledge they must learn in school. Also, this study will come up with what medium can be used as instructional medium that will aid the faculty members in their teaching courses or subjects in school.

English newspapers as fresh language, popular novel, close to the life of a corpus source that is the college English teaching has always attached importance to the reference materials. According to the rhetorical characteristics of English newspapers, we set the course, it is best to learn some rhetorical knowledge after the students to open the course, English majors can learn after the rhetoric can also be extended as the rhetoric class and homework. This paper proposes the new idea of dealing with mentioned issues that will promote the development of reading teaching of sports news.

Research and Practice of the P.E. Information Teaching Design System

In this paper, the physical education information teaching design system is researched and developed based on VB6.0 optimization platform. According to the national physical education and health course standards and the fundamental theories of the constructivisrn, the author adopts the modular-design development method to design two functional areas which are the displaying of the teaching design contents and the online information database （nine modules in total） on the basis of the P.E. teaching design flow. Importantly, this system features the compatibility, scalability and practical applicability, and can effectively improve the ability of P.E. teachers to design their teaching, and hence provides a guarantee for the improvement of teaching quality and efficiency.

A Comparison between Adult Higher Education and Higher Education＇s Self-study Exam

Adult higher education and higher education＇ s self-study exam are parts of the continuing education system, and also very important parts of the education system in China. Now, in addition to the ordinary full-time higher education, these two education systems are important for the education system in China, and also are important ways for people to learn knowledge and get a diploma. However, a great number of students raise many questions about the difference between the two systems, and feel highly confused about choosing adult higher education or higher education＇ s self-study exam currently. In this paper, the similarities and differences between adult higher education and higher education ＇ s self-study exam are discussed, so that a good choice is easily made by students before one of them is applied.

Interactive Multimodal Narrative as an Approach to Developing Emergent Literacy in Early Childhood Education

At present, the Portuguese education system promotes the development of new literacies in all education levels in response to new requirements of the digital world which imply changes in children＇s education. In fact, reading and writing are no longer limited exclusively to books, rather they are associated with diversified digital media integrating text, sound, image, and video. In this context, we developed an exploratory study in a kindergarten with the children and their family members. Data were collected through participant observation, children conversational interviews, and digital narratives produced by children. Data analysis is based on content analysis with NVivo software support. The emergence of literacy is evident in verbal interactions in peer-group work, in contact with the written text, in ＂writing＂ in various media, and in sharing knowledge, discoveries, and digital narratives produced in an online community （http：//janelajardim.ning.com）. Globalization and Socio-educational Inequalities： A Study of Privatization of Higher Education in India

India is the world＇s largest democracy. The preamble of the constitution enshrines the values of a socialist, secular and equality. The aim was to create a society, based on fair and equitable distribution of resources and bringing the weaker sections to the mainstream of the society. However with the entry of globalization rapid changes were being made in the structural policy. Markets started taking over from where the state left off. it has been two decades and half since the liberalization, privatization and globalization phase was ushered in. Subsequently, privatization of education is rampant in each part of education system of India. The main objective of this paper is to find out socio-educational inequality at higher education level and to explore the educational participation, attainment and performance of scheduled castes at higher education level. Basically, this study is an empirical and exploratory research. Data collection and analysis were done through the data triangulation methods in this research process.

The Model of Participating, Payable, Profitable, Potent Insured Education System-4Ps IESM

In the field of education, there is a need for a financing system which is affordable, yet effective, as well as profitable, and is based on user participation. This need was the main reason the author has designed the model named ＂Insured Education System Model---IESM＂. The IESM is based on the principle that expenditures incurred at each stage of educational attainment should not be burdened upon the person himself/herself. There should be insurance companies willing to cover the educational expenditures of the buyers. The suggested IESM model also creates an auto-control mechanism within the financing system through which insurance companies, educational institutions （buyers）, and households will gain benefits. Furthermore, the IESM will increase the quality of service within the overall educational system, and create employment, as well as eliminating the number of school drop outs. The system will bring a significant decrease in the cost of the service. This study presents the results of the analyses on the data collected by the author on the perception of the proposed Insured Education System Models through surveys conducted in selected schools in Istanbul. The survey is unique in a sense that for the first time in literature such a model is suggested and the perception of relevant stake holders are tested through a questionnaire of 42 questions. The results show that there is an approval rate of more than 50% regarding to the IESM. And the frequency analysis suggests that the IESM is an applicable model.
