Objectives:Clinical education and experience in the clinical environment play an important role in shaping the clinical experience.Effective clinical teaching improves the clinical practice of the nursing trainees which in turn improves the quality of patient care.It mandates for the clinical instructor with desired qualities,to have a positive influence in clinical education.This study examined nurse trainees'perceptions of clinical instructor characteristics.Methods:The current study was conducted in a multi-cultural tertiary setting using a cross-sectional descriptive design.Using convenience sampling,302 trainees were chosen as participants for the study,and there were 296 respondents.The data were collected from the participants using the Nursing Clinical Teacher Effectiveness Inventory(NCTEI)tool.Results:The findings of the study revealed that the clinical instructors have scored high in personality(scoring percentage=84.0%)and relatively low in teaching ability(scoring percentage=81.3%).Also,the overall perception was almost the same among all the trainees though there was a slight variation in their rating of each dimension.Conclusions:Nursing trainees indicated the instructors as having good personality and relatively low teaching ability.This mandates the clinical instructors in the clinical environment to empower themselves in this area of improvement.This helps the teaching institutions to consider all the domains of effective clinical instructor characteristics while recruitment and also organize programs giving emphasis on building and developing these characteristics to create effective instructors. 展开更多

Based on the premise that ethics education leads to creation of the required (acceptable level of) ethical awareness, the general streamline of accounting ethics literature is strongly in favor of teaching adequate, efficient, and effective accounting ethics. This paper takes the position that this premise must be checked in an educational setting in which accounting ethics education lacks the characteristics of being adequate, efficient, and effective. Accordingly, a questionnaire with two parts was distributed to accounting students about to graduate from the University of Bahrain (UoB). The first part is an exploratory investigation consisting of 21 variables/questions. The second part is an experimental investigation consisting of 13 hypothetical accounting cases representing various ethics violations. The general tendency by an accounting student based on the two parts indicates that he/she holds an acceptable level of ethical awareness, despite the fact that accounting education programs lack an adequate, efficient, and effective approach to teaching accounting ethics. 展开更多

The study is conducted to examine the differences of gender perception among educators who are teaching in local higher learning institutions in Malaysia, in viewing their roles as the '~teacher". Several higher learning institutions were randomly targeted. Several researchers were involved in the data collection by means of using questionnaires in the survey over a period of several weeks. The questionnaires were used to fred out about their academic and professional backgrounds, requiring them to list their roles pertinent to their experiences in teaching, ranked them and provided the rationale behind the choices made. Twenty-five samples were collected to scrutinize the data by categorizing the information according to gender and teaching experiences and recording the frequencies of answers. From the study, it is found that regardless of gender and teaching experiences, most participants would consider themselves as "Provider of knowledge", followed by "N^r", especially those who are relatively new in teaching. There is also an indication that teacher's experiences and gender might affect their perception in mirroring themselves. A larger scale of study is needed in validating the findings of this study for it to be empirical, thus promoting in-depth investigations in viewing whether gender and cultural background may be vital factors that has profound effects towards their professionalism. It is hoped that future studies will shed some light to this rather controversial claims. 展开更多

Education of veterinarians in animal welfare issues is important to improve the welfare and health of animals. A questionnaire to 250 veterinarians related to their knowledge on animal welfare issues has been carried out at the Veterinary School of the University of the Republic, Uruguay, during March-April 2012. The questions were related to the courses on animal welfare veterinarians received, their main field of work, the importance given to the information offered and the quality of the topics addressed. From the total of veterinarians surveyed, 45% (112) answered the questionnaire. Of those who responded, 47% attended to three or more animal welfare courses, 18% assisted to two courses and 22% to one. The occupation of the 82% of respondents was with beef and dairy cattle (large animals) or in the meat industry equally. 10% works with small animals (especially pets) and poultry (production and industry). The 95% of respondents considered that animal welfare is very important for their daily work with animals 65% reported that animal welfare concepts have high applicability in their job. 85% considered that animal welfare should be part of the veterinary curricula and 100% expressed their compliance to be present in other courses on the subject. These results emphasize the importance afforded by Uruguayan veterinarians to improve their knowledge on animal welfare and to continue including specific courses in the veterinary curricula. 展开更多

The common idea is that museum pedagogy as a word creates easily an image of dusty, silent, and serious moment when the audience is forced to follow a lecture or a guided tour The author's research questions are: (I) Museum as an institution--what are the limits and possibilities to create highlights for audience work? (2) How to look and talk about art for different audiences--also for non-visitors? And (3) How can museum combine the knowledge of results and new technology to create more interesting approach for its audiences? Participants of the author's research are teachers, students, senior citizens, and colleagues from other museums. Besides the literature the author uses mixed methods by combining visitor questionnaires (made during last ten years) and qualitative research made by narrative methods. Interviews have been made by H4 recorder. The qualitative analysis is going to be made by Atlas.ti. The results will finally be analyzed in 2014. The sector has contributed to the regional income in the regency. Coastal communities in the area can certainly get the impact which is marked by the increasing prosperity of society. This study used a survey by sampling using questionnaire. The number of samples in this study were 100 respondents who live in the Serakaman village and the Ujung village of Sebuku sub-district, Kotabaru. Companies in the Serakaman village and the Ujung village are Sebuku Iron Lateritic Ores (SILO), Bahari Cakrawala Sebuku (BCS) and Metalindo Bumi Raya (MBR). Analysis stages of welfare based on the level of welfare standards from National Population and Family Planning Board of Indonesia. The results showed the level of welfare in the Sarakaman village and the Ujung village is the welfare stage I and the welfare stage. Although at this welfare stage I and welfare families, the level of education, access to banks and income is still low. The company through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program is expected to improve the welfare of the community around the company area. 展开更多
