As technology becomes increasingly integrated into the teaching and learning processes at the university level, it is imperative that research be conducted in relation to the impact of technology acquisition on minori...As technology becomes increasingly integrated into the teaching and learning processes at the university level, it is imperative that research be conducted in relation to the impact of technology acquisition on minority learning populations. Research suggests that we need to improve the ways technology is applied, adopted and introduced and that higher levels of support should be provided to minority and nontraditional learning populations as they immerse themselves into higher education environments. Avenues for discussion of cost-effective technology integration and transition are explored; data identifies a need for more effective selection and alignment of learning needs with learning tools earlier on in the process of technology implementation across campuses. Research suggests this supports student presence, persistence, retention and success. Without it, however, we fail to support the very learners we seek to provide higher levels of access and opportunity. This failure will impact learners and institutions alike by placing disadvantage populations in precarious positions and universities having to choose between cultural, economic and human capital. The government makes efforts in promoting the modem appre...With the furthering of educational reform in higher vocational institutions, China's vocational education has given a new connotation to modem apprenticeship. The government makes efforts in promoting the modem apprenticeship and this is met with active response of the higher vocational institutions. However, in the practical situation of the higher vocational institutions, the implementation of modem apprenticeship is still faced with lots of problems. It is the author's opinion that the government and higher vocational institutions should overall integrate the planning for scientific and systematic designing of the implementation of modem apprenticeship to create an integrated environment for the enterprises to actively participate in the higher vocational education. The institutions and enterprises should join hands in the management of higher vocational education, strengthen the pilot institutionsand promote the apprenticeship to solve the problems in the implementation and enhance the development of the higher vocational education of China.展开更多

The longitudinal study examines the impact ofa multilingual literacy approach as it has been applied in the teaching of French, German, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, and Spanish across 12 different schools in South Australia. The move to introduce the study of additional languages in Australian primary schools has yet to establish wide-ranging and on-going student engagement and often fails to progress students beyond simple pragmatic language use. It is argued that a new approach integrates languages in daily classroom literacy practices can redress this situation: a multilingual literacy approach. The theoretical framework that drives this approach draws from the notions of universality and transfer that are established in the literature. A critical realist paradigm provided a framework for integrating research methods: employing contingency theory and pragmatic methods of philosophy also ensured that values and hermeneutics were not sidelined in the explanation of the study's acts and outcomes. This longitudinal study demonstrates that when the aforementioned theoretical notions bridge the research-practice divide and are adopted into daily classroom teaching and learning activities, there is a qualitative and quantitative improvement in students' literacy learning展开更多
