The need for a comprehensive plan to devise a national system of education was therefore felt. The same mandate holds relevance in contemporary India as many languages are becoming endangered, while some have actually become extint despite claims of multilingualism and maintenance. The loss of a language is equivalent to the erasure of an entire culture itself. This is where schools can play a critical role in preservation and perpetuation by relating the home language to the school language of learners. The integration of one or more language can lead to progressive understanding and use of another language without losing the former. The result would be maintenance of languages in a complementary model. It is also important that in this scheme English is not contextualized in a western ambience, but is taught through a contextually rich local perspective because English is no longer a colonial language per se but a global language in a multilingual milieu. It must therefore find place among local and vernacular languages.展开更多

But over the same period they are to be admitted into the school when vocational students are far from proficiency in English language, to classroom teaching English it brought many difficulties. Constructivist theory emphasizes that leaming is a process of knowledge acquisition. Knowledge can not only get from teachers, but also requires learners to learn from others' help in some particular context, with the necessary leaming materials, and through a way of meaning construction. This paper analyzes the supervision activity, to which educators and teachers enrolled with AIGAM (Gordon Italian Association for the Musical Learning) are subject to every year and intends to verify the application...This paper analyzes the supervision activity, to which educators and teachers enrolled with AIGAM (Gordon Italian Association for the Musical Learning) are subject to every year and intends to verify the application of those principles expressed in the learning model of the MLT (Music Learning Theory) developed by educational psychologist E. Edwin Gordon (1989, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2007) and promoted internationally by various institutions and organizations specifically accredited. It describes the influence of the videotaped supervision on the process, functions of monitoring, and evaluation of educational practices, starting with an empirical model that has guided the interventions in a study of supervision on training aimed at consolidating and developing professional skills in music education in early childhood. This paper sought to understand: the kind of practices, interactions, communications developing during an educational actions, the existence of a consistent relationship between the principles expressed in the MLT and their application, the type and benefits of supervision performed by of video recording on stakeholders in terms of change in professional behavior, and finally whether the active supervision could be comparable with other kinds of approaches.展开更多

Recent years, problems of the current college English courses, such as test-oriented teaching, wasteful duplication of language skills teaching, etc., have been criticized by educators and students in China. Thus, tur...Recent years, problems of the current college English courses, such as test-oriented teaching, wasteful duplication of language skills teaching, etc., have been criticized by educators and students in China. Thus, turning skill-based English courses into content-based ESP (English for Special Purposes) courses has become a tendency at colleges and universities in China. The purpose of this paper is to analyze factors influencing the design of such courses through the means of questionnaire, individual interviews, data survey (e.g., educational plans) etc.. We found the following factors throw light on the questions relating to curriculum design of ESP courses: (1) the learners' learning needs; (2) the social needs (esp. labor market needs); and (3) the academic needs from the university. The analysis serves to reveal the gap between the school system and actual social and students needs. With these factors in mind, designers of such courses can adjust goals, contents, approaches, and assessments in the practical teaching. And thus these factors would enable content-based ESP courses to reflect learners' needs better and lead to more effective langrage learning in college English teaching field.展开更多
