The retrieval of the biomass parameters from active/passive microwave remote sensing data (10.2 GHz) is performed based on an iterative inversion of BP neural network model with fuzzy optimization. The BP neural network is trained by a set of the measurements of active and passive remote sensing and the ground truth data versus Day of Year during growth. Once the network training is complete, the model can be used to retrieve the temporal variations of the biomass parameters from another set of observation data. The model was used in weights and microware observation data of wheat growth in 1989 to retrieve biomass parameters change of wheat growth this year. The retrieved biomass parameters correspond well with the real data of the growth, which shows that the BP model is scientific and sound. 展开更多

Gastric cancer is the second most common cancer worldwide and the second most common cause of cancer-related deaths. Despite complete resection of gastric cancer and lymph node dissection, as well as improvements in c... Gastric cancer is the second most common cancer worldwide and the second most common cause of cancer-related deaths. Despite complete resection of gastric cancer and lymph node dissection, as well as improvements in chemotherapy and radiotherapy, there are still 700 000 gastric cancer-related deaths per year worldwide and more than 80% of patients with advanced gastric cancer die of the disease or recurrent disease within 1 year after diagnosis. None of the treatment modalities we have been applying today can influence the overall survival rates:at present, the overall 5-year relative survival rate for gastric cancer is about 28%. Cellular metaplasia due to chronic inflammation, injury and repair are the most documented processes for neoplasia. It appears that chronic inflammation stimulates tumor development and plays a critical role in initiating, sustaining and advancing tumor growth. It is also evident that not all inflammation is tumorigenic. Additional mutations can be acquired, and this leads to the cancer cell gaining a further growth advantage and acquiring a more malignant phenotype. Intestinalization of gastric units, which is called "intestinal metaplasia"; phenotypic antralization of fundic units, which is called "spasmolytic polypeptide-expressing metaplasia"; and the development directly from the stem/progenitor cellzone are three pathways that have been described for gastric carcinogenesis. Also, an important factor for the development of gastrointestinal cancers is peritumoral stroma. However, the initiating cellular event in gastric metaplasia is still controversial. Understanding gastric carcinogenesis and its precursor lesions has been under intense investigation, and our paper attempts to highlight recent progress in this field of cancer research. 展开更多

To enhance the nitrogen removal,a systemic monitoring of the biological and hydrological parameters of Carrousel oxidation ditch in Chongqing Jingkou Wastewater Treatment Plant was carried out to study the feasibility of simultaneous nitrification and denitrification(SND).The variation and distribution of parameters such as flow velocity,concentration of dissolved oxygen(DO) and mixed liquor suspended solids(MLSS) in oxidation ditch were monitored and analyzed,which were major control factors for SND.The results showed that,the dimensional distribution of flow velocity,DO and MLSS were affected significantly by the operation condition of the aeration wheels.With all the four aeration wheels being in operation,DO and flow velocity were higher and the mixing of MLSS was sufficient.With three aeration wheels being in operation,the flow velocity in most of the bottom areas was enough to meet the basic requirements of no deposition,and the anaerobic region and aerobic region could exist simultaneously in one oxidation ditch,which was helpful to the process of SND.According to spatial distribution characteristics of the flow velocity,DO and soluble components under optimized condition,different functional zones of biochemical reaction in the Carrousel oxidation ditch system were defined,which might contribute to the optimization control and SND of Carrousel oxidation ditch. 展开更多

For encoding the logistic pattern on each stage, the Pruefer number is used. With theimproved decoding procedure, any Pruefer number produced stochastically can be decoded to a feasiblelogistic pattern, which can match with the capacities of the nodes of the logistic system. Withthese two innovations, a new modeling method based on parameterized interface distribution and thePriifer number coding is put forward. The corresponding genetic algorithm, named as PIP-GA, can findbetter solutions and require less computational time than st-GA. Although requiring a little moreconsumption of memory, PIP-GA is still an efficient and robust method in the modeling andoptimization of unbalanced multi-stage logistic systems. 展开更多

Determination of crop growth parameters of maize helps assess the performance of the crop for food security. A study was conducted in two seasons covering 2012 and 2013 to establish optimal irrigation and nitrogen fertilizer rates for drought tolerant hybrid maize (Zea mays L.), DK8031 variety, in sandy loam soils using furrow irrigation. Four additive irrigation levels (119.05 mm, 238.10 mm, 357.15 mm and 476.2 mm) were allocated the main plots while five nitrogen fertilizer rates (0 kg/ha, 60, 75 kg/ha, 90 kg/ha and 100 kg/ha) were allocated the sub-plots. Both irrigation and nitrogen fertilizer treatments significantly enhanced crop growth parameters under consideration. Stand count per treatment plot, plant height and number of leaves per ranged from 45-59 plants/plot, 215-238 cm and 14-16 leaves respectively. It was concluded that use of supplementary irrigation and phased nitrogen fertilizer rates for maize growing in areas such as Embu can greatly promote crop growth. 展开更多

A projected skill is adopted by use of the differential evolution (DE) algorithm to calculate a conditional nonlinear optimal perturbation (CNOP). The CNOP is the maximal value of a constrained optimization problem with a constraint condition, such as a ball constraint. The success of the DE algorithm lies in its ability to handle a non-differentiable and nonlinear cost function. In this study, the DE algorithm and the traditional optimization algorithms used to obtain the CNOPs are compared by analyzing a theoretical grassland ecosystem model and a dynamic global vegetation model. This study shows that the CNOPs generated by the DE algorithm are similar to those by the sequential quadratic programming (SQP) algorithm and the spectral projected gradients (SPG2) algorithm. If the cost function is non-differentiable, the CNOPs could also be caught with the DE algorithm. The numerical results suggest the DE algorithm can be employed to calculate the CNOP, especially when the cost function is non-differentiable. 展开更多

Nowadays, natural fermentation is widely employed to produce VCO in wet processing. But the problem in natural fermentation process has much contamination, due to surplus micro organisms present in natural environment, which leads to the poor quality of VCO. To overcome this, usage of probiotic organism like Lactobacillus fermentum is more beneficial for the fermentative production of VCO. Fermentation studies were conducted scientifically in computer controlled bioreactor to determine the effect of pH, temperature, inoculum concentration, oxygen requirement and incubation time on the yield of VCO. Yield efficiency of VCO in each parameter was determined. The pH of 5± 0.1, temperature at 45 ± 0.1 ~C, inoculum concentration of 2%, fermentation end time of 48 hrs and microaerophilic conditions are the most suitable parameters for the superior production of VCO. 展开更多

Coalbed methane(CBM) commercial development requires choosing the arrangement of the wells.This should be done by considering the corresponding input-output(investment-profit) efficiencies.Simulations were obtained from the computer modeling group(CMG) given the reservoir conditions of the Panzhuang block in the southern part of the Qinshui Basin.This is a demonstration region for CBM development located in Shanxi province of northern China.The sensitivity of gas production from a single vertical well to the primary reservoir parameters was estimated first.Then multi-well gas production from three different well patterns was simulated to estimate the most appropriate well spacing.Combining the investment requirements then gave investment-profit efficiencies for these well patterns.A data envelopment analysis(DEA) model was used to optimize the efficiency.The results show that the permeability,the reservoir pressure,and the gas content have an evident impact on single well gas production.The desorption time has little or no affect on production.The equilateral triangular well pattern(ETWP) in a 400 m well spacing is,for multi-well development,the optimal pattern.It has a better input-output ratio,a longer stable yield time,and provides for greater CBM recovery than does either the rectangular well pattern(RWP) or the five point well pattern(FPWP). 展开更多
