Using the Laplace transformation method and transfer function to simplify and solve the coupled equations in Laplace domain, the moisture and temperature distribution in time domain are obtained by inverse Laplace transformation. The shrinkage deformations of concrete are numerically simulated by the finite element method (FEM) based on the obtained temperature and moisture distribution. This approach avoids the complex eigenvalues, coupling difficulty and low accuracy found in other solving methods, and also effectively calculates the moisture induced shrinkage which is almost impossible using familiar FEM software. The validity of the simulation procedure is verified by Hundt's test data. The results reveal that the proposed approach can be considered a reliable and efficient method to simulate the coupling moisture and temperature shrinkage of concrete.展开更多

The effects of the heat transfer and chemical reaction of the resin on the flow and temperature are considered. The numerical algorithm of the resin flow and temperature variation in the process of RTM are studied. Its accuracy and convergence are analyzed. The comparison of temperature variations between experimental results and model predictions is carried out for two RTM cases. Result shows that the model is efficient for evaluating the flow and temperature variation in the filling stage of RTM and there is a good coincidence between theory and experiment.展开更多

The dynamic mechanism on the formation of the Kaerqueka polymetallic deposit is always an interesting topic of research. We used the finite difference method to model the mineralizing process of the chalcopyrite in this region with considering the field geological features, mineralogy and geochemistry. In particular, the modern mineralization theory was used to quantitatively estimate the related chemical reactions associated with the chalcopyrite formation in the Kaerqueka polymetallic deposit. The numerical results indicate that the hydrothermal fluid flow is a key controlling factor of mineralization in this area and the temperature gradient is the driving force of pore-fluid flow. The metallogenic temperature of chalcopyrite in the Kaerqueka polymetallic deposit is between 250 and 350 ℃. The corresponding computational results have been verified by the field observations. It has been further demonstrated that the simulation results of coupled models in the field of emerging computational geosciences can enhance our understanding of the ore-forming processes in this area.展开更多

An anti-vibration layer of rubber has been designed between the two plates. Two 3D numerical models of the building take into account the individual storeys, firstly together with the lay-out of the rubber distribution in the foundation pan and secondly without this rubber part. For response analysis, the measured time histories in the construction area were selected and then the typical response was used as an input for a dynamic analysis of the structure.展开更多

The total time derivative term is treated with a first order characteristics method. The space approximation is based on a piecewise continuous finite element method. The proposed algorithm is used to simulate the mechanical aeration process in lakes. Such process is used to combat the degradation of the water quality due to the eutrophication phenomena. For this application high computing facilities and capacities are required. In order to optimize the computing time and make possible the simulation of real applications, the authors propose a parallel implementation of the numerical algorithm. The parallelization technique is performed using the Message Passing Interface. The efficiency of the proposed numerical algorithm is illustrated by some numerical results.展开更多
