In this work, the local SNR-based Goldstein filter is further developed with the improvements in the definition of the local SNR and the adaption of the filtering patch size. What's more, for preventing the loss of the phase signal caused by the excessive filtering, an iteration filtering operation is also introduced in this new algorithm. To evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithm, both a simulated digital elevation model (DEM) interferogram and real SAR deformation interferogram spanning the L' Aquila earthquake are carried out. The quantitative results from the simulated and real data reveal that up to 79.5% noises can be reduced by the new filter, indicating 9%-32% improvements over the previous local SNR-based Goldstein filter. This demonstrates that the new filter is not only equipped with sufficient adaption, but also can suppress the phase noise without the sacrifice of the phase signal.展开更多

Spectrally efficient modulation formats (QAM-OFDM), advanced digital signal processing, pre- and post- equalization are adopted to compensate the severe frequency response of indoor channel. In this system, we utilize red-green-blue Light emitting diodes (LEDs), of which each color can be used to carry different signals. For downlink, the low frequencies of each color are used while for uplink, the high frequencies are used. The overall data rate of downlink and uplink are 1.15-Gb/s and 300-Mb/s. The bit error ratios (BERs) for all channels after 0.7 m indoor delivery are below pre-forward- error-correction (pre-FEC) threshold of 3.8×10-3. To the best of our knowledge, this is the highest data rate in bi-directional visible light communication system.展开更多

In this letter, the performance of the three stage turbo-equalization-decoding employing log maximum a posteriori probability is experimentally evaluated by a fading simulator. The BER is evaluated using various information sequence and interleaver sizes taking into account that the communication medium is a noisy inter symbol interference channel.展开更多

The serial peripheral interface(SPI) protocol is commonly used by manufacturers of ESs and integrated circuits for applications in areas such as wired and wireless communications. We present the design and experimental implementation of a chaotic encryption and decryption algorithm applied to the SPI communication protocol. The design of the chaotic encryption algorithm along with its counterpart in the decryption is based on the chaotic Hénon map and two methods for blur and permute(in combination with DNA sequences). The SPI protocol is configured in 16 bits to synchronize a transmitter and a receiver considering a symmetric key. Results are experimentally proved using two low-cost dsPIC microcontrollers as ESs. The SPI digital-to-analog converter is used to process, acquire, and reconstruct confidential messages based on its properties for digital signal processing. Finally, security of the cryptogram is proved by a statistical test. The digital processing capacity of the algorithm is validated by dsPIC microcontrollers.展开更多
