We examined relationships between maximal oxygen uptake, submaximal oxygen kinetics, fianctional mobility, and physical activity in older adults with HF and reduced ejection fraction. Methods Older adults with HF and reduced ejection fraction (n = 25, age 75 :i: 7 years) were compared to 25 healthy ageand gender-matched controls. Assessments included a maximal treadmill test for peak oxygen uptake (VO2p^ak), oxygen uptake kinetics at onset of and on recovery from a submaximal treadmill test, functional mobility testing [Get Up and Go (GUG), Comfortable Gait Speed (CGS), Unipedal Stance (US)], and self-reported physical activity (PA). Results Compared to controls, HF had worse performance on GUG, CGS, and US, greater delays in submaximal oxygen uptake kinetics, and lower PA. In controls, VO2peak was more strongly associated with functional mobility and PA than submaximal oxygen uptake kinetics. In HF patients, submaximal oxygen uptake kinetics were similarly associated with GUG and CGS as VO2peak, but weakly associated with PA. Conclusions Based on their mobility performance, older HF patients with reduced ejection fraction are at risk for adverse functional outcomes. In this population, submaximal oxygen uptake measures may be equivalent to VO2 peak in predicting functional mobility, and in addition to being more feasible, may provide better insight into how aerobic function relates to mobility in older adults with HF.展开更多

Methods: Three spheres with diameters of 2, 3 and 4 cm made of tissue-equivalent materials used for simulating tumors were inserted into the upper lobe, middle lobe, lower lobe of the right lung, upper lobe, lower lobe of the left lung of the Rando phantom, respectively. Five-field simplified IMRT (slMRT) planning were designed. The prescribed dose was 60 Gy/2 Gy/30 f, 99% of the planning target volume received this dose. Dose-volume parameters of normal lung tissues including relative volume of lung receiving 〉 5, 10, 20, 30 and 50 Gy (V5, Vl0, V2o, V30, V50), and mean lung dose (MLD) were analyzed and compared. Results: For the dose-volume parameters, the diameter and the position of the tumor had a significant effect (P 〈 0.05). With the diameter expanding from 2 to 3 cm, the parameters associated with tumor lying in various lobes increased by a range between 3.83%-125.38%, while the parameters linked with tumors on different lobes increased by a range between 10.46%-51.46% with the diameter expanding from 3 to 4 cm. Conclusion: Location and size of sphere-like tumor have an obvious effect on dose-volume parameters. Knowing about the degree of influence will help oncologists and physicists better evaluate treatment planning, then the probability of radiation pneumonitis can be reduced.展开更多

In the new education system, it is an urgent problem for the mathematics teachers in higher vocational colleges to bring forth new ideas for the teaching methods, improve the students' interest in learning, and train the application-oriented talented personnel needed by the society. MATLAB software package can help set up a bridge and link for the mathematics teaching and the practical application. Its powerful numerical calculation ability can quickly solve all kinds of calculation problems, so that the basic thinking methods are more closely focused in mathematics teaching and also more conditions are created for mathematics teaching to combine the actual major conditions and life conditions. In this paper, the related problems in the implementation of mathematical modeling software MATLAB and model in higher vocational colleges are discussed.展开更多

The study sampled data of 843 Chinese young males all over the country. Back force, hand twisting force and arm force of four different exerting directions (pull, push, adduction and abduction) were measured. Comparisons are made between the results of this study and those from other documents. Different types strength were also compared. The factors of stature and weight influenced on muscle force were analyzed. There are obvious differences of arm strength in four directions and it can be ordered as push, pull, adduction and abduction, the push force is the largest and the abduction force is the least. The significant correlation exists between different types force. Weight has an obvious influence on one's force among above three factors. The database of Chinese young males is established for the first time. Results of the study can provide help for ergonomist, the worker of occupation health and the researcher of rehabilitation.展开更多

Lung cancer is the major cause of cancer-related mortality, accounting for over one quarter of cancer deaths. Lung cancers are generally divided into two main categories: SCLC (small cell lung cancer) and NSCLC. NSCLC accounts for approximately 85% of all lung cancers. ALK gene rearrangements are identified and targeted resulting in promising response rates for NSCLC in early studies. Considering the significance of Crizotinib in the treatment of NSCLC, the synthesis, pharmacodynamics, pharmacokinetics, therapeutic trials and adverse events are briefly overviewed in order to make more scholars, medical workers and patients have a more clear and comprehensive recognition on Crizotinib.展开更多

In the project, a database with information of morphology, physical charac-teristics and physiological function will be constructed. The raw data of CDH which was completed in the Southern Medical University is employed. In Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST), the frozen section images are preprocessed, segmented, labeled in accordance with the major organs and tissues of human beings, and reconstructed into three-dimensional (3D) models in parallel on high performance computing clusters (HPC). Some visualization software for 2D atlas and 3D mod-els are developed based on the new dataset with high resolution (0.1mm×0.1mm×0.2mm). In order to share, release and popularize the above work, a website (www.vch.org.cn) is online. The dataset is one of the most important parts in the national information database and the medical infrastructure.展开更多
