We performed a long range acoustic propagation experiment in the South China Sea(SCS) in November 2004.The environment of the experiment was with an isothermal sound speed profile,where influence of water volume fluctuation was small,meaning that bottom parameters can be well estimated from acoustic signals.We inverted the acoustic parameters of sediment by using a hybrid inversion scheme that combines the matched field processing inversion with Hamilton sediment empirical relationship and transmission loss data.The numerical results show excellent agreement with the experiment data,indicating validity of the inverted parameters. 展开更多

An experimental study on intensifying osmotic dehydration was carried out ina state of nature and with acoustic cavitation of different cavitating intensity (0.5A, 0.7A and0.9A) respectively, in which the material is apple slice of 5mm thickness. The result showed thatacoustic cavitation remarkably enhanced the osmotic dehydration, and the water loss was acceleratedwith the increase of cavitating intensity. The water diffusivity coefficients ranged from1.8x10^(-10)m^2·s^(-1) at 0.5A to 2.6x10^(-10)m^2·s^(-1) at 0.9A, and solute diffusivitycoefficients ranged from 3.5x10^(-11) m^2·s^(-1) at 0.5A to 4.6X10^(-11)m^2·s^(-1) at 0.9A. On thebasis of experiments, a mathematical model was established about mass transfer during osmoticdehydration, and the numerical simulation was carried out. The calculated results agree well withexperimental data, and represent the rule of mass transfer during osmotic dehydration intensified byacoustic cavitation. 展开更多

Boron and Zinc Transport Through Intact Columns of Calcareous Soils

Leaching of boron (B) and zinc (Zn) can be significant in some pedomorphic conditions, which can cause contamination of shallow groundwater and economic losses. Boron and Zn adsorption and transport was studied using 8.4 cm diameter × 28 cm long intact columns from two calcareous soil series with differing clay contents and vadose zone structures: Lyallpur soil series, clay loam (fine-silty, mixed, hyperthermic Ustalfic Haplargid), and Sultanpur soil series, sandy loam (coarse-silty, mixed, hyperthermic Ustollic Camborthid). The adsorption isotherms were developed by equilibrating soil with 0.01 tool L^-1 CaCl2 aqueous solution containing varying amounts of B and Zn and were fitted to the Langmuir equation. The B and Zn breakthrough curves were fitted to the two-domain convective-dispersive equation. At the end of the leaching experiment, 0.11 L 10 g L^-1 blue dye solution was also applied to each column to mark the flow paths. The Lyallpur soil columns had a slightly greater adsorption partition coefficient both for B and Zn than the Sultanpur soil columns. In the Lyallpur soil columns, B arrival was immediate but the peak concentration ratio (the concentration in solution at equilibrium/concentration applied) was lower than that in the Sultanpur soil columns. The breakthrough of B in the Sultanpur soil columns occurred after about 10 cm of cumulative drainage in both the columns; the rise in effluent concentration was fast and the peak concentration ratio was almost 1. Zinc leaching through the soil columns was very limited as only one column from the Lyallpur soil series showed Zn breakthrough in the effluent where the peak concentration ratio was only 0.05. This study demonstrates the effect of soil structure on B transport and has implications for the nutrient management in field soils. 展开更多

An improved whole model of beam pumping system was built. In the detail, for surface transmission system(STS), a new mathematical model was established considering the influence of some factors on the STS's torsional vibration, such as the time variation characteristic of equivalent stiffness of belt and equivalent rotational inertia of crank. For the sucker rod string(SRS), an improved mathematical model was built considering the influence of some parameters on the SRS's longitudinal vibration, such as the nonlinear friction of plunger, hydraulic loss of pump and clearance leakage. The dynamic response and system efficiency of whole system were analyzed. The results show that there is a jumping phenomenon in the amplitude frequency curve, and the system efficiency is sensitive to motor power, pump diameter, stroke number, ratio of gas and oil, and submergence depth. The simulation results have important significance for improving the efficiency of beam pumping system. 展开更多

The new demodulation method can complete the demodulation of the FSK signals only with the carrier frequency and without any carrier phase information. The simulation results show that the performance of anti-noise of the new method is better than that of the incoherent demodulation method and the fluctuation of the carrier phase has little effect on the new method. An optical closure study on bio-optical relationships was carried out using radiative transfer model matrix operator method developed by Freie Universitat Berlin. As a case study, the optical closure of bio-optical relationships empirically parameterized with in situ data for the East China Sea was examined. Remote-sensing reflectance (Rrs) was computed from the inherent optical properties predicted by these biooptical relationships and compared with published in situ data. It was found that the simulated Rrs was overestimated for turbid water. To achieve optical closure, bio-optical relationships for absorption and scattering coefficients for suspended particulate matter were adjusted. Furthermore, the results show that the Fournier and Forand phase functions obtained from the adjusted relationships perform better than the Petzold phase function. Therefore, before bio-optical relationships are used for a local sea area, the optical closure should be examined. 展开更多

Recently,Content-Centric Networking(CCN) has been paid more and more attention.The modeling of CCN as an important research point is the foundation of the architecture.The past work of cache network modeling always assumes the virtual round trip time(VRTT) is zero for simplicity.However,this assumption isn't practical and results in model error especially in CCN.CCN's router can aggregate the content requests during the VRTT to avoid content delivery repeatedly.Thus,to modeling CCN data transfer,as well as understanding how it should be managed,the VRTT shouldn't be ignored.In this paper,we model the data transfer in CCN,and propose a multi-cache with aggregation approximation(MCAA)algorithm to get the content miss rate and VRTT at each router.Simulation results show the validity of our MCAA algorithm. 展开更多

This paper investigates the nonlinear dynamics of network-based dynamical systems where network communication channels of finite data rates are inserted into the closed loops of the control systems. The authors analyze the bifurcation and chaotic behavior of the non-smooth dynamical systems. The authors first prove that for almost all system parameters there are no periodic orbits. This result distinguishes this type of non-smooth dynamical systems from many others exhibiting border-collision bifurcations. Next, the authors show analytically that the chaotic sets are separated from the region containing the line segment of all fixed points with a finite distance. Finally, the authors employ a simple model to highlight that both the number of clients sharing a common network channel and fluctuations in the available network bandwidth have significant influence on the performance of such dynamical systems. 展开更多
