For each of these measures and metric, the output provides the ability to obtain a rank ordering of the nodes in terms of these measures. We might use this information in decision making concerning disrupting or deceiving a given network. All is fine when all the measures indicate the same node as the key or influential node. What happens when the measures indicate different key nodes? Our goal in this paper is to explore two methodologies to identify the key players or nodes in a given network. We apply TOPSIS to analyze these outputs to find the most influential nodes as a function of the decision makers' inputs as a process to consider both subjective and objectives inputs through pairwise comparison matrices. We illustrate our results using two common networks from the literature: the Kite network and the Information flow network from Knoke and Wood. We discuss some basic sensitivity analysis can may be applied to the methods. We find the use of TOPSIS as a flexible method to weight the criterion based upon the decision makers' inputs or the topology of the network.展开更多

Applying dynamic modeling, i.e, generalized method of moments (GMM) econometrics findings have driven us to system estimated model where the following institutional variables have been tested: maternity leave, child care facilities, college education, fertility rate, GDP growth, female unemployment rate and part-time employment. We expect these variables to have a positive impact on the female employment rate except for the female unemployment rate and maternity leave展开更多

The first prototype of TRPE was manufactured. This prototype is intended for high power density engines and can produce 36 power strokes per shaft revolution. Compared with the conventional engines, the vector sum of combustion gas forces acting on each rotor piston in TRPE is a pure torque, and the combustion gas rotates the rotors while compresses the gas in the compression chamber at the same time. Mathematical modeling of gas force transmission was built. Expression for gas torque on each rotor was derived. Different variation patterns of the volume change of working chamber were introduced. The analytical and numerical results is presented to demonstrate the main characteristics of gas torque. The results show that the value of gas torque in TRPE falls to be less than zero before the combustion phase is finished; the time for one stroke is 30° in terms of the rotating angle of the output shaft; gas torque in one complete revolution of the output shaft has a period which is equal to 60° and it is necessary to put off the moment when gas torque becomes zero in order to export the maximum energy.展开更多

Considering the sequential distribution of harmonic currents, zero-sequence components could be diminished using electromagnetic devices, particularly the eZSB (electromagnetic zero-sequence blocking). One important characteristic of this device, which has received particular attention on this research, is its robustness and low cost of construction. Theoretical and experimental results related to the behavior of the electromagnetic blocking devices are presented. The results illustrate the consistence of the theoretical aspects related with the model in the frequency domain, as well as the performance of the blocking devices, reducing zero-sequence harmonic currents, mainly by the conjunct action of the eZSF (electromagnetic zero-sequence harmonic filter), working as a impedance coupler. In this context, aiming the evaluation of the reliability of the results obtained through mathematical modeling, experimental tests have been carried out using a low-power prototype, highlighting particular aspects related to its function as a zero-sequence harmonic blocker.展开更多

Current metacarpophalangeal TJR do not provide the normal biomechanical range of motion and functionality. The proposed design attempts to correct this through the use of design geometry and functional anatomy. Numerical analysis is used in conjunction with computational solid modeling to compare a one-piece silicone implant with the proposed T JR. Peak stresses during flexion for the proposed design did not exceed 1.2 MPa, where as soft implants approach 100 MPa to 1,000 MPa for peak stress values. The proposed design, due to high stress tolerances with low deformation, along with functionality and biomechanics, seems to be an appropriate replacement for one-piece silicone implant.展开更多
