The NPF with time-varying coefficients can adaptively estimate the coherent components. The smoothness of the polynomial coefficients is controlled by shaping regularization. The signal is coherent along the offset axis in a common midpoint (CMP) gather after normal moveout (NMO). We use NPF to estimate the effective signal and thereby to attenuate the random noise. For radial events-like noise such as ground roll, we first employ a radial trace (RT) transform to transform the data to the time-velocity domain. Then the NPF is used to estimate coherent noise in the RT domain. Finally, the coherent noise is adaptively subtracted from the noisy dataset. The proposed method can effectively estimate coherent noise with amplitude variations along the event and there is no need to propose that noise amplitude is constant. Results of synthetic and field data examples show that, compared with conventional methods such as stationary polynomial fitting and low cut filters, the proposed method can effectively suppress seismic noise and preserve the signals.展开更多

By approximating the time-delay term of the process model with the first-order Taylor series, the expressions for IMC-PID controller parameters were derived, and they had only one adjustable parameter 2 which was directly related to the dynamic performance and robustness of the system. Moreover, an analytical approach of selecting 2 was given based on the maximum sensitivity Ms. Then, the robust tuning of the system could be achieved according to the value of Ms. In addition, the proposed method could be extended to the integrator plus time-delay (IPTD) process and the first order delay integrating (FODI) process. Simulation studies were carried out on various processes with time-delay, and the results show that the proposed method could provide a better dynamic performance of both the set-point tracking and disturbance rejection and robustness against parameters perturbation.展开更多

The high actuation accuracy of 3.9 ktm in radial direction and 0.09~ in angular position is validated in a 2-stage-turbine test rig which is installed at the Institute of Power Plant Technology, Steam and Gas Turbines, RWTH Aachen University. To meet the challenge to calculate the efficiency of a turbo machine which is mainly influenced by the temperature, all probe adjusting devices are positioned simultaneously and controlled by the MAS (measuring acquisition system) so that the same radial position in each stage is measured at the same time. For this purpose a new program has been developed to synchronize actuation and measurement. The slim design of 60 mm width allows measurement between the stages of turbo machines with small axial distances between vane and blade. In addition a CFD/FEA shows how the design and combination of materials compensate the thermal expansion of the engine during operation. This allows a minimal safety distance of 0.2 mm between rotor and probe to enable measurement as close to the physical boundary as possible. The actuation accuracy is demonstrated with pressure, temperature and angle distribution plots. It is also shown that the resolution of the measuring points, and therefore the actuation distances, has a large impact on the flow field analysis and should be set as high as possible. However the measuring time has to be taken into account.展开更多

This paper investigates the design and verification of a new controller to adjust the vehicle height and to regulate the roll and pitch angles of the vehicle body(leveling control) during the height adjustment procedures. A nonlinear mechanism model of the vehicle height adjustment system is formulated to describe the dynamic behaviors of the system. By using mixed logical dynamical(MLD) approach, a novel control strategy is proposed to adjust the vehicle height by controlling the on-off statuses of the solenoid valves directly. On this basis, a correction algorithm is also designed to regulate the durations of the on-off statuses of the solenoid valves based on pulse width modulated(PWM) technology, thus the effective leveling control of the vehicle body can be guaranteed. Finally, simulations and vehicle tests results are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness and applicability of the proposed control methodology.展开更多

Firstly, when a span-scale girder segment is temporarily stored in the open air, temperature gradients will significantly increase the maximum reaction force on temporary supports and cause local buckling at the bottom of the girder segment. Secondly, due to the temperature difference of the girder segments before and after girth-welding, some residual thermal deflections will appear on the girder segments because the boundary conditions of the structure are changed by the girth-welding. Thirdly, the thermal expansion and thermal bending of girder segments will cause movement and rotation of bearings, which must be considered in setting bearings. We propose control measures for these problems based on finite element method simulation with field-measured temperatures. The local buckling during open-air storage can be avoided by reasonably determining the appropriate positions of temporary supports using analysis of overall and local stresses. The residual thermal deflections can be overcome by performing girth-welding during a period when the vertical temperature difference of the girder is within 1 °C, such as after 22:00. Some formulas are proposed to determine the pre-set distances for bearings, in which the movement and rotation of the bearings due to dead loads and thermal loads are considered. Finally, the feasibility of these control measures in the placement of span-scale girder segments on a real continuous girder was verified: no local buckling was observed during open-air storage;the residual thermal deflections after girth-welding were controlled within 5 mm and the residual pre-set distances of bearings when the whole continuous girder reached its design state were controlled within 20 mm.展开更多
