The evolution process and mechanism of its cultural landscape are different from those of the industrialized village. The paper focuses this theme by a case study of Qianzhai Village of Qufu City, Shangdong Province. In the case of Qianzhai Village, the evolution of its settlement has experienced three stages: mechanical expansion, sprawling expansion and hollowing, and recentralization. The land- scape evolution of residents' houses has undergone three phases: traditional quadrangle house, one-storied house and multistoried house. The evolution of its land use has experienced three stages: circled stratification, fragment and intensive use, and concentration and extensive use. We can see that the main driving factors of cultural landscape evolu- tion of agricultural village are the changes of rural population, society, economy and culture, which are influenced by the change of urban-rural relation, the national modernization process and economic development, the reform of family planning and land system, and the changes in governmental policies. In the future, the modernization, ecological trend, and individualization for residents' houses of agricultural villages in China will develop step by step. The recentralization of settlement and the scaled, sustainable, intensive land use are likely to be the trends of agricultural villages in China. 展开更多

Tourist industry had been promoted and become one of the important strategies of Thai government for socioeconomic development for years and become successful by ranking--Thailand becomes well-known as top ranking to visit from tourists around the world. When people travel, foods are always needed to fulfill human needs and the satisfaction of the travelers. The objectives of the research were to: (1) survey and determine the local food image and identity of Northern region of Thailand to support tourist industry; (2) survey program's tourism in Thailand and study the promotion of local food that had added in the programs' tours as tourist destination; (3) find out the possibility of local food and culture for promotion in tourist industry of Northern region in Thailand; (4) develop gastronomy tourism's routing. The population were the subject persons who are experts in tourist industry, Northern foods restaurant owner, and program's tour. Mixed method was used for data collection and analysis. The result of the research is revealed into four parts: Phase 1: (1) Thai Northern region had been divided into two part: upper Northern and lower Northern region. There are eight provinces in upper Northern region: Chingmai, Chingrai, Lampoon, Lampang, Prayao, Phare, Nan, and Mae-Hongsorn. Chingmai was the capital of "Lanna territory (1558-1774)" rich with culture; (2) Upper Northern local foods related to the legend, have their own characters and are still available to get to eat; (3) Northern local food contained with Northern ingredient and indicated as geographical indications; (4) The lower Northern region related with "Sukhothai territory (1157-1370)", Sukhothai was the capital. There are six provinces in the region: Sukhothai, U-taradid, Tag, Kampangpet, Pidsanuloak, and Petchaboon. Food of the lower Northern provinces had their own characteristics but some of the dishes were influenced with Chinese cuisine, such as noodles. Phase 2: Most of tour companies had included local food in the tour programs to promote Northern local foods in low level. Phase 3: Life's pathway of the Northern people lived related to the three seasons: rainy season, cool season, and summer. Each season had different kinds of vegetables and fruits which influence the menus and foods. Eating foods as medicine also related to the season, such as shallot and garlic had added more in foods in cool season, in order to prevent cold of family's members. Northern life style always celebrated in all ceremonies with foods, snack, and sweet, such as: wedding, cremation, and community cerebrations which may be promoted in tour program as their ways of living with sustainable, in order to promote socioeconomic development in the community. Phase 4: The gastronomy tourism was developed into five routings to promote tourist industry in the Northern part of Thailand as the following: (1) gateway to reach "Lanna"; (2)window to visit the Northern part of Thailand; (3) pay respect to the Buddha and visit dynasty heritage; (4) visit the peaceful and tranquilly heritage; and (5) visit Thailand's border with boundless. Conclusion: Thai local lifestyle, culture, and local foods in the Northern part of Thailand, contained rich image and identity of history, legend, and human diversity, which are worth and valuable for promoting as tourist industry in the Northern part of Thailand and also conserved job absorption and community development. Therefore the government of Thailand and tour companies ought to promote Thai local foods as value added and tourist industry which also benefit for the sustainable socioeconomic development in long future. 展开更多

The lack of reading habits among Mexican population is an idea based on national and international indicators, which illustrate the danger of this situation; however, these indicators fail to go deeper into the problem. This project was aimed to obtain more information about the habitus and social representations of college students reading habits, using as theoretical elements the principles developed by Pierre Bourdieu and Serge Moscovici. The project was developed in a public university, located in Mexico's northeast region; 19 students were part of the sample group. Two research tools were used to obtain data: survey and focus group. The project analyzed academic and environmental aspects, beyond the "ought to be", that affected the development and provided characteristics on the daily sociocultural reality of the students, with a view of the real environment of the students without "make-up". The project deepened into the analysis of the reading practices and not only the usual numeric indicators, which traditionally condemn the reading practices in Mexico. The results of this study showed that students read a lot more than what they and their teachers think they do, this taking into consideration electronic documents, general interest publications, and commercial magazines, among others. The point of view of some teachers and researchers, when it comes to reading habits recognize non-academic, simple and interesting reading more important impact on their reading habits shows a tendency to be pedantic and canonic; it does not for young people, which in the long term, could have a 展开更多

This paper examines the musical tradition, widespread in the giant habitat of the northern hemisphere--from theUrals in the east to the Pacific and even capturing the regions of North America. The author considers music as areflection of worldview and religion. For this purpose the author uses a method of comparison of a mythological picture of the world and properties of musical language. An important element linking the two areas is vertical. In mythology, this is turning the world on several floors in which the world of people occupies the middle one. At the level of music--it is the vertical of overtone sound row. The initial timbre ideal of this tradition are th esounds of throat singing which are associated with the vertical of the universe and consciousness used as an important formative structure of the World Model. In the article the author considers a materialization of musical consciousness in musical instruments. For this purpose, eight instruments under different names are selected andpresented in musical cultures of people. This allows the author to create the card of geographical distribution of tengri consciousness. 展开更多

Several recent studies have pointed out that northern parts of Jordan are exposed to high levels of the effect of the hot spring, which is widely known to have severe impacts on health, vegetation and structures. North Jordan has a wealth of ancient heritage including six out of the ten Decapolis Cities. Air pollution that comes out from the hot springs is alleged to deteriorate and erode buildings, structures, statues and monuments through acid deposition. Therefore, this research was conducted to assess air quality at Gadara, the capital of the ancient Decapolis and suggest mitigation measures that have to be adopted in order to save the ancient heritage against further deterioration. Measurements revealed that most criteria air pollutants including sulfur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide and carbon monoxide attain corresponding national ambient air quality standards. Atmospheric concentrations of NO are strongly linked to the amount of 03. Simultaneous exposure to SO2 and NO2 demonstrated that a catalytic reaction takes place which increases the rate of sulphate production after 30 h exposure. 展开更多

The observation stations of Northern China are divided into three regions:the arid Northwest China, the Loess Plateau, and the cool Northeast China. The consistencies, differences, and associated mechanisms of land surface thermal-hydrologic processes among the three regions were studied based on the normalization of major variables of land surface thermal-hydrologic processes, using data collected during prevailing summer monsoon period(July and August,2008).It is shown that differences of surface thermal-hydrologic processes are remarkable among the three regions because of different impacts of summer monsoon.Especially their soil wet layers occur at different depths, and the average albedo and its diurnal variations are distinctly different.Surface net short-wave radiation in the Loess Plateau is close to that in the cool Northeast China, but its surface net long-wave radiation is close to that in the arid Northwest China. And the ratio of net radiation to global solar radiation in the cool Northeast China is higher than the other two regions, though its temperature is lower. There are obvious regional differences in the ratios of surface sensible and latent heat fluxes to net radiation for the three regions because of distinct contribution of sensible and latent heat fluxesto land surface energy balance. The three regions are markedly different in the ratio of water vapor flux to pan evaporation, but they are consistent in the ratio of water vapor flux to precipitation. These results not only indicate different influences of climate and environmental factors on land surface thermal-hydrologic processes in the three regions, but also show that summer monsoon is important in the formation and variation of the pattern of land surface thermal-hydrologic processes. 展开更多
