Research on the Relationship between British and American Cultural Differences and American Literature Comment

Treatment of aggressive pancreatic solid pseudo-papillary neoplasms with apatinib plus S-1 chemotherapy:A case report and literature review

Solid pseudopapillary neoplasm(SPN) is a rare indolent pancreatic neoplasm that occurs mostly in females. Although the malignancy potential is quite limited for SPN, these tumors can sometimes be aggressive and lead to inferior prognosis for male patients. In this case report, we present a special case of a male patient with SPN who experienced an aggressive tumor expansion after two surgical resections. For further treatment, we decided to administer chemotherapy with apatinib and S-1, and subsequent CT/MRI tumor monitoring indicated satisfactory control of tumor expansion. The effectiveness of apatinib plus the S-1 regimen should be tested for more patients with SPN in the future.

Integration of Teaching and Assessing Intercultural Communicative Competence

The launch of the Belt and Road Initiative in China calls for a paradigm shift in theory and practice of foreign language(FL)teaching from a communicative language teaching approach(CLT)to intercultural language teaching(ICLT),which treats intercultural communicative competence(ICC)as the core of FL education.Unfortunately,the College English Curriculum Requirements of China(CECR)does not specify the aspects for cultural teaching or assessment;nor does it provide any theoretical or practical guidance for teachers on how to teach or assess ICC.This leads to teachers’confusion about what should be taught and assessed and how,hence to a deficiency in real actions.In this paper,we first outline the learning outcomes of ICLT-oriented courses,the ICC components which respectively fall into the categories of intercultural attitude,knowledge and skills.By presenting the pedagogical practice of a cultural literacy course,we also demonstrate how FL teachers can help learners achieve these learning outcomes through a fivestage instruction process.Finally,we discuss how these learning outcomes can be assessed using formative and summative assessment tools,especially how ICC components can be incorporated into a comprehensive test of FL.

The Influence of British and American Cultural Differences on English and American Literature Review

In an era of globalization, cross-cultural communication is not strange to us with studyingand travelling abroad, and even immigration becoming a part of our lives. In such an era of international communication being increasingly frequent, learning the culture of other countries will help usto do well in international communication. The paperis going to study,from the British and American history and culture, the differences of all kinds of their present acts in the world and impacts of the historical reasons on their own citizens, to not only let the reader understand the cultural differences between these two countries, but also to get the cause of the difference to better understand their cultures.

The Literature Criticism Approach Applied in English Teaching

Aimed at the negligence of literature side in foreign language teaching, the reduction of literary texts in foreign language teaching for non-foreign language majors, and the minimized proportion of literary criticism in the related teachers books, this paper stressed the dialectic complementary relationship between foreign language teaching and literature teaching, advances the application of the literature criticism approach with an attached analytic case study and a summary of the advantage of the approach.

Role of Mass Media in Facilitating Citizen’s Participation in Bangladesh Public Procurement

Public procurement （PP） is considered as one of the key most important functions of any government across the world. Over the years, it has been argued by the scholars that third party engagement （except government officials and bidders） in procurement system facilitates to achieve good governance in this sector. In this regard, it is generally expected that third-party monitoring （TPM） of PP, especially monitoring by citizens might earn the trust and confidence of the people in government activities. This study aims at exploring the roles of media in promoting citizen engagement （CE） in PP in order to make the procurement process impartial, efficient, effective, and accountable. The study uses a qualitative methodology in conducting the research with the data being collected through key informant interview, semi-structured interviews, Focus Group Discussions （FGD）, secondary document, and literature reviews. The findings of this study suggest that if the media can play an effective role, the procurement literacy rate will be increasing. Hence, an enabling environment could be created where people will feel at ease to talk about compliance with procurement rules and acts. Hence, media may act as a catalyst to promote citizens involvement in the PP process to hold the respective groups accountable for their activities.

An Exploration on ＂Cultivating Character＂ in the Courses of College English

The fundamental purpose of Virtue education for college students is to carry out the education policy of moral education first and cultivate college students＇ correct attitude towards life, work, helping them achieve the happy life. This paper, based on the understanding of the inner link between the character of the college English course culture contains and students＇ virtue cultivation, analyzes the characteristics of our College English curriculum culture such as generation, counterbalance and practice and puts forward strategies to cultivate student＇s deliberating, self-supervision and cautious action by teachers＇ teaching wisdom, the design of the teaching evaluation and contents and students＇ learning experience step by step and so on.

Application of Structuration Theory and Activity Theory in Enterprise Resources Planning Systems Implementation for Universities

An integration of organization culture in the conceptualization and development of Enterprise Resource Planning Systems （ERPs） is critical for an organization to reap potential benefits of the system. In this paper, the authors present an analytical approach through the Structuration Theory： How a university can assess its culture for the purposes of design and development of the ERPs. The authors extend the Structuration Theory by integrating it with the Activity Theory to provide the means of evaluating the activities that the system is to perform. The modified Orlikowski model is applied to depict the relationship between institutional properties, human agents, and technology in the university setup and how this offers a more inclusive approach to ERP systems development and implementation.

The Prospect and Feasibility Assessment of Brine Shrimp （Artemia franciscana） Culture in Bangladesh

A laboratory-based work was conducted on development, biometry （cyst diameter, hatching efficiency and hatching percentage） and survival rate of Artemia franciscana at 35 ppt using natural brine water under constant aeration facilities. The experiment was carried out for both chorionic and decapsulated cysts. There was a significant increase in hatching output of the decapsulated cysts than the chorionic cysts. The survival rate was counted only for the chorionic cysts because nauplii hatched from decapsulated cysts died after four days of incubation before reaching the adult stage. Untill now the Artemia cysts are imported from abroad. Though the prospect of mass production of Artemia in Bangladesh is feasible but there needs to be more studies done.

Research on the Relationship of Cross-Cultural Context and English Teaching from the Perspective of the Development of Linguistics and Pedagogy： A Theoretical Review

In this paper, we conduct theoretical review on the relationship of cross-cultural context and the English teaching from the perspective of the development of linguistics and pedagogy. To learn a foreign language is mainly used for the purpose of intercultural communication and successful communication depends on not only good language structure knowledge depends on understanding and grasp of the cultural context in communication. Diversified teaching mode should be designed according to different teaching goal. Teachers should according to the actual circumstance of various other class teaching, planning and design to reflect the personalized teaching. The words carry each other＇ s national culture information and reflect the national mentality of the humanities, represent the cultural background of different languages which have distinct and unique ethnic characteristics.
