Ever since Venuti put forward the concept of translator's invisibility in 1995, studies have been conducted on the discursive presence of translators in the translated texts. The translator, as the receiver of the source text and m the meantime the producer of the target text, is sure to leave his/her voice traceable in the translated texts throughout the whole translating process. This paper aims to present an overview of the conceptual development of the translator's voice in translation studies from different perspectives like narratology, stylistics, socio-narrative theory, speech-act theory etc. 展开更多

Author as a Medium: Strategies of Embodiment of Text in Poetry Slam

Dana Gioia in her publication Disappearing Ink: Poetry at the End of Print Culture, draws attention to the increasing popularity of oral forms of poetry--rap, cowboy poetry, poetry slams and performance poetry According to Gioia, transformation of author "from an invisible creator of typographic language to a physical presence performing aloud", leads to formulation of a strong antithesis for Barthes' "death of the author", namely "death of the text". In her paper, Gioia assumes that the appearance of the author in his physical presence on stage performing text is equivalent to rebirth of an author and his restoration of power over the meaning of text. This assumption results from a strong division between the process of production and the process of reception of text, which maintains a strong opposition among author, text, and reader. This paper presents slam poetry as an event, during which prepared, written text merges with spoken word susceptible to voices from the audience. This fusion leads to rejection of strong division between production and reception of text and thus between author and reader making all of them participants. Print medium is replaced with living body, which responds to the audience and their reception of text. Text is no longer perceived as an artifact, but as a performative process focused on interaction between participants, which cannot exist outside the event 展开更多

Scientific research on snow avalanches is relatively modem, yet in constant and rapid evolution, as the multiple disciplines involved in its development will, in turn, become more specialized and more technical. Patents are part of research and knowledge production. The scientific community and policy makers are increasingly interested in production of knowledge collaboratively. Almost all of the research being conducted on snow avalanches uses technology, technique or instrumentation. One main objective of this study is to draw from the literature the many technologies, techniques and instrumentations that are being used in research related to avalanches. Thus, a textual analysis of the most significant literature in the field of snow avalanches was done. In this analysis, techniques, technologies and instrumentations have emerged. A patent search has been done in databases. Subsequently, patents were conceptualized. The proportion of applicants for patents is higher in industry than in universities. The measure of exploration of the ongoing sociocognitive transformations of science and technology systems presents a useful tool to conduct a study to explore these transformations. It would be interesting for the scientific community, but also for the industry, to elaborate concept mapping when applied to avalanche research, which would help in determining referents. 展开更多

Aiming to optimize the beer production process by improving the properties of beer and reducing production costs at the J.S.C. "Birra Peja" brewery, Peja, Kosovo, this study did an evaluation of beer produced using six different malts. Four of the six studied malts were produced in four European countries: Ukraine, Croatia, Serbia and Kosovo; and, the other two malts were obtained from two (2) 30:70 proportion mixtures: one from Kosovo and Ukraine and another one from Kosovo and Croatia. Chemical, microbiological, sensory and tasting analyses were carried on beers produced by these malts. The study included three working groups from: "Birra Peja"; the Agricultural University of Tirana, Albania and "Union Brewery", Ljubljana, Slovenia. Chemical and microbiological tests were based on methods under the EBC (European Beer Convention) and MEBAK (Mitteleurop^iische Brautechnische Analysenkommision e.V.) guidelines. The analyses and assessments made for the quality of beer have come to the conclusion that beer produced by Croatian origin malt corresponds to a better quality beer. 展开更多

The paper reports the results of a field study which was carried out at the Language Centre of the University of Naples and originated in the observation that learning the Italian language was not perceived by ab initio students as connected to their personal and academic experiences. The claim of this research is that a procedural syllabus based on texts and tasks facilitates both the acquisition of Italian as a foreign language and the integration of language and content. Each text proposed to the learners was accompanied and enhanced by pre-, while-, and production-tasks. A particular emphasis was assigned to noticing and attention management tasks in the pre and while phase Production tasks in a later phase favoured interlanguage development by combining representational structures with controlled attention. The method of the study was a combination of qualitative and quantitative approach at any stage. Measures for written production during the course and to assess final exams were: Holistic Rating (fluency and creativity), Accuracy Ratios (intelligibility index and error index), and Complexity Ratios (dependent and coordinate clauses per t-units ratio and re-elaboration of a model or text type). At the final exams, Texts and tasks learners outperformed non-texts and tasks learners. In conclusion, an input related to personal and/or academic interests, to be processed through tasks, allowed learners a rapid interlanguage change and development 展开更多
