Methods: A literature search of multiple databases was used to identify studies that met the inclusion criteria for this review. The included studies were then critically appraised using the Downs and Black protocol. Results: Nine articles were found to meet the inclusion criteria, with an average score of 79% for methodological quality representative of a "high" standard of research. Conclusion: The evidence suggests that dehydration has a negative impact on physical performance for activities lasting more than 30 s in duration. However dehydration was found to have no significant impact on physical performance for activities lasting less than 15 s in duration.展开更多

We report one case of a 28-year-old man following a high-energy trauma. After performing closed reduction of the metacarpophalangeal joint injury, open reduction of the wrist injury through volar approach was done, and a K-wire fixation was used to stabilize the scaphoid fracture and lunotriquetral joint. After a 16 months' follow-up period, the wrist regained a full range of motion without symptoms, and the fractured bone was strengthened in a good position.展开更多

We reported 2 juvenile athletes with CSDH associated with AC which occurred in their daily sports activities and reviewed the literature. Both of them were treated surgically, with satisfactory outcome. AC is a common predisposing factor in young patients with CSDH. The complication of intracranial bleeding is an indication for surgicalmanagement. Though there are still controversies in the treatment of asymptomatic AC, it is the consensus that the patients with AC should avoid violent sports so as to reduce the incidence ofintracranial hemorrhage resulted from head injuries.展开更多

Disabling complications are mainly loss of rotatory movements of the forearm. Various surgical procedures have been described in the literature to end up in forearm synostosis as a complication. We here presented a rare case of proximal forearm synostosis following a common but improper surgical technique for an olecranon fracture complicated by implant infection. The synostosis was treated by resection and fascia lata interposition graft.展开更多

We present such a case in a 5 year old child that was initially managed as a supracondylar fracture at another centre before referral to us, 10 days after the injury. The child was diagnosed as having a displaced T-condylar fracture on plain radiograph. Open reduction and internal fixation with K-wires was performed. At 2 years follow-up, the child had good range of motion at elbow with 5°of cubitus varus. With this background we discuss the pertinent principles of management ofT-condylar fractures in skeletally immature children.展开更多
