As a new three-dimensional(3-D)modulation,Polarization Quadrature Amplitude Modulation(PQAM) can be regarded as the combination of Pulse amplitude modulation(PAM) and Quadrature Amplitude Modulation(QAM) Modulation.It can better improve the digital communication efficiency and reduce the Symbol error rate(SER) of the system than one-dimensional or two-dimensional modulation scheme.How to design a feasible constellation is the most concerned problem of PQAM currently.This paper first studies the relationship between the SER theoretical value of PQAM and the distribution of M and N,proposes a new M,N allocation scheme.Secondly,a new and straightforward design method of constructing higher-level 3-D signal constellations,which can be matched with the PQAM,and the constellation can divided into three different structures according to the ary for PQAM.Finally,the simulation results show that:in PQAM system,the modulation scheme and the constellation mapping scheme are proposed in this paper which can effectively reduce the system SER and improve the anti-noise performance of the system. 展开更多

A robust evolutionary algorithm, Non-dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithms (the improved NSGA-Ⅱ), is applied on a spaceborne SAR antenna pattern design. The system consists of two objective functions with two constraints. Pareto fronts are generated as a result of multi-objective optimization. After being validated by a test problem ZDT4, the algorithms are used to synthesize spaceborne SAR antenna radiation pattern. The good results with low Ambi- guity-to-Signal Ratio (ASR) and high directivity are obtained in the paper. 展开更多

How to deal with geometric distortion is an open problem when using the massive amount of satellite images at a national or global scale, especially for multi-temporal image analysis. In this paper, an algorithm is proposed to automatically rectify the geometric distortion of time-series CCD multi- spectral data of small constellation for environmental and disaster mitigation (HJ-1A/B) which was launched by China in 2008. In this algorithm, the area-based matching method was used to automatically search tie points firstly, and then the polynomial function was introduced to correct the systematic errors caused by the satellite motion along the roll, pitch and yaw direction. The improved orthorectification method was finally used to correct pixel displacement caused by off-nadir viewing of topography, which are random errors in the images and cannot be corrected by the polynomial equation. Nine scenes of level 2 HJ CCD images from one path/row were taken as the warp images to test the algorithm. The test result showed that the overall accuracy of the proposed algorithm was within 2 pixels (the average residuals were 37.8 m, and standard deviations were 19.8 m). The accuracies of 45.96% validation points (VPs) were within 1 pixel and 90.33% VPs were within 2 pixels. The discussion showed that three main factors including the distortion patterns of HJ CCD images, pereent of cloud cover and the varying altitude of the satellite orbit may affect the search of tie points and the accuracy of results. Although the influence of varying altitude of the satellite orbits is less than the other factors, it is noted that detailed satellite altitude information should be given in the future to get a more precise result. The proposed algorithm should be an efficient tool for the geo-correction of HJ CCD multi-spectral images. 展开更多

Studying the Condition of Soil Protection Agrolandscape in Ukraine Using Remote Sensing Methods

The article reviews the scientific approaches to monitoring of soil condition on the soil protection agrolandscape. In 1980s, the contour-meliorative soil protection system was established on the selected fields in Ukraine. The objective of the current research was to determine the capabilities of satellite survey to identify the changes of soil cover that had occurred on these fields during the past 25 years. Soil erosion processes are very dynamic, therefore it is essential to use time-series of operative satellite images to track those changes. Rills on the fields, caused by water erosion, are clearly identified on high-resolution satellite data. Erosion causes the decrease of humus content, which affects soil reflection values. This in turn leads to a corresponding change of color shade on satellite images. The research allowed to determine correlation between remote sensing data and soil organic carbon content and to acquire a mathematical model which describes this correlation. The condition of the agrolandscape soils was assessed using the regression model, which helped to evaluate erosion risk for different areas of the test polygon. The visual interpretation of satellite imagery led to a conclusion about a damaging effect of erosion on protective forest belts and accordingly on fields' soil cover and crops. Visual analysis results were approved by field research. Photos taken during the field research indicate an unsatisfactory status of forest belts and a devastating effect of eroding water flows. These are the results of irresponsible land use and constant violation of methodical principles of the contour-meliorative system organization. The article concludes that the use of time-series of high-resolution satellite imagery allows monitoring the condition of soil protection agrolandscape, in particular the forest belts' status soil cover conditions and their change over time. The research results can be used as an informational basis for the soil protection agrolandscape monitoring system. 展开更多

Firstly, a means is put forward that generates simulative images by scanning aerial films taking into account the space-borne remote sensing camera characteristics (including pixel resolution, histogram dynamic range and quantization). In the course of compression quality assessment, the objective assessment considers images texture changes and mutual relationship between simulative images and decompressed ima- ges, while the synthesized estimation factor (SEF) is brought out innovatively for the first time. Subjective assessment adopts a display setup -- 0.5mrn/pixel, which considers human visual char- acteristic and mainstream monitor. The set of methods are applied in compression plan design of panchromatic camera loaded on ZY-1-02C satellite. Through systematic and comprehensive assess- ment, simulation results show that image compression quality with the compression ratio of d:l can meet the remote sensing application requirements. 展开更多

Land water, one of the important components of land cover, is the indispensable and important basic information for climate change studies, ecological environment assessment, macro-control analysis, etc. This article describes the overall study on land water in the program of global land cover remote sensing mapping. Through collection and processing of Landsat TM/ETM+, China's HJ-1 satellite image, etc., the program achieves an effective overlay of global multi-spectral image of 30 m resolution for two base years, namely, 2000 and 2010, with the image rectification accuracy meeting the requirements of 1:200000 mapping and the error in registration of images for the two periods being controlled within 1 pixel. The indexes were designed and selected reasonably based on spectral features and geometric shapes of water on the scale of 30 m resolution, the water information was extracted in an elaborate way by combining a simple and easy operation through pixel-based classification method with a comprehensive utilization of various rules and knowledge through the object-oriented classification method, and finally the classification results were further optimized and improved by the human-computer interaction, thus realizing high-resolution remote sensing mapping of global water. The completed global land water data results, including Global Land 30-water 2000 and Global Land 30-water 2010, are the classification results featuring the highest resolution on a global scale, and the overall accuracy of self-assessment is 96%. These data are the important basic data for developing relevant studies, such as analyzing spatial distribution pattern of global land water, revealing regional difference, studying space-time fluctuation law, and diagnosing health of ecological environment. 展开更多

The Mars Advanced Radar for Subsurface and Ionosphere Sounding(MARSIS) onboard the Mars Express(MEX) spacecraft started to collect data of the Martian topside ionosphere from May,2005.By now a large amount of ionograms has been obtained.It is important to extract vertical ionospheric information effectively from the ionograms for further study.In this paper a new method,Object Tracking Method(OTM),is proposed to automatically extract the ionospheric electron density profiles by computer.This method is based on three algorithms,namely the Hough transform,region growing segmentation algorithm and moving objects detection method from video sequences.In processing ionosphere echoes are treated as moving objects.The identification ratio of OTM for the MARSIS ionograms is estimated to be around 90%. 展开更多
