Comparative analysis of seismic response characteristics of pile-supported structure

In order to analyze the seismic response characteristics of pile-supported structure,a computational model considering pile-soil-structure interaction effect was established by finite element method.Then,numerical implementation was made in time domain.At the same time,a simplified approximation for seismic response analysis of pile-soil-structure system was briefly presented.Furthermore,comparative study was performed for an engineering example.Through comparative analysis,it is shown that the results obtained by the simplified method well agree with those achieved by the finite element method.These results show that spectrum characteristics and intensity of input earthquakes are two important factors that can notablely influence the seismic response characteristics of superstructure.When the input ground motion acceleration amplitude gradually increases from 1 to 4 m/s2,the acceleration of pier top will increase,but it will not be simply proportional to the increase of input acceleration amplitude. 展开更多

Determining the Effective Refractive Index of AIGaAs-GaAs Slab Waveguide Based on Analytical and Finite Difference Method

Therefore many numerical methods are used on these elements of integrated optics. Simulation response of an optical slab waveguide used in integrated optics needs such numerical methods. These methods must be precise and useful in terms of memory capacity and time duration. In this paper, we study basic analytical and finite difference methods to determine the effective refractive index of AIGaAs-GaAs slab waveguide. Also, appropriate effective refractive index value is obtained with respect to number of grid points and number of matrix sizes. Finally, the validity of the obtained values by both methods is compared to using waveguide type. 展开更多

In order to meet the needs of high-speed development of optical communication system, a construction method of quasi-cyclic low-density parity-check(QC-LDPC) codes based on multiplicative group of finite field is proposed. The Tanner graph of parity check matrix of the code constructed by this method has no cycle of length 4, and it can make sure that the obtained code can get a good distance property. Simulation results show that when the bit error rate(BER) is 10-6, in the same simulation environment, the net coding gain(NCG) of the proposed QC-LDPC(3 780, 3 540) code with the code rate of 93.7% in this paper is improved by 2.18 dB and 1.6 dB respectively compared with those of the RS(255, 239) code in ITU-T G.975 and the LDPC(3 2640, 3 0592) code in ITU-T G.975.1. In addition, the NCG of the proposed QC-LDPC(3 780, 3 540) code is respectively 0.2 dB and 0.4 dB higher compared with those of the SG-QC-LDPC(3 780, 3 540) code based on the two different subgroups in finite field and the AS-QC-LDPC(3 780, 3 540) code based on the two arbitrary sets of a finite field. Thus, the proposed QC-LDPC(3 780, 3 540) code in this paper can be well applied in optical communication systems. 展开更多

To enhance electric fields around nanorods,a Ag nanorod-groove system is presented and its electric field distribution is studied using the finite difference time domain method.Since the superposition of the electric fields of the split multi-beam of light works as excitation for electron oscillations in the nanorods,enhanced electric fields occur around the nanorods.In addition,the effects of topological parameters of the nanorod-groove system,such as the oblique angle of the groove,displacement of the nanorod to the bottom of the groove,and separation between the nanorods on electric field distributions are also studied.These results may be helpful for designing substrates to obtain larger electric fields around nanorods. 展开更多
