Verification of Seismic Performance of Pile Foundation in Composite Ground through Experimental and Numerical Methods

A new construction method of pile foundation in composite ground, in which, prior to installing piles, the ground is improved around the heads of the piles in soft ground or ground subject to liquefaction, which is introduced in this paper. This construction method uses a combination of pile foundation construction together with common ground improvement methods, including deep mixing, preloading and sand compaction piling, and it is referred to as the composite ground pile method. Since an artificial ground with relatively high rigidity comparing with that of the original ground was formed around the pile in this method, and the seismic performance has not been made clear, thus the seismic performance of piles in composite ground was systematically analyzed through a series of centrifuge model tests and numerical analyses by using dynamic nonlinear finite element method, and a verification method for the seismic performance of piles in composite ground was proposed on the basis of the experimental and numerical results. 展开更多

Preparation of composite abrasives by electrostatic self-assembly method and its polishing properties in Cu CMP

The adsorption characteristics of cationic polyelectrolyte poly dimethyl diallyl ammonium chloride (PDADMAC) and anionic polyelectrolyte poly (sodium-p-styrenesulfonate) (PSS) on benzoguanamine formal- dehyde (BGF) particles are investigated. The charging characteristics of BGF particles are changed and con- trolled using electrostatic self-assembly method. A variety of PE,-BGF/SiO2 composite abrasives are obtained. The as-prepared samples are analyzed by zeta potential analysis, transmission electron microscope (TEM) and thermogravimetric (TG) analysis. The composite abrasive slurries are prepared for copper polishing. The poli- shing results indicate that it is SiO2 abrasives, not only coated SiO2 abrasive on polymer particles but also free SiO2 abrasive in slurry, that offer the polishing action. The material removal rates of copper polishing are 264 nm/min, 348 nm/min and 476 nm/min using single SiO2 abrasive slurry, PE0-BGF/SiO2 mixed abrasive slur- ry and PE3-BGF/SiO2 composite abrasive slurry, respectively. The surface roughness Ra of copper wafer (with 5μm×5μm district) is decreased from 0.166 μm to 3.7 nm, 2.6 nm and 1.5 nm, and the surface peak-valley values Rrv are less than 20 nm, 14 nm and 10 nm using these kinds of slurries, respectively. This paper discusses convergence and complexity of arbitrary,but fixed,order adaptive mixed element methods for the Poisson equation in two and three dimensions.The two main ingredients in the analysis,namely the quasi-orthogonality and the discrete reliability,are achieved by use of a discrete Helmholtz decomposition and a discrete inf-sup condition.The adaptive algorithms are shown to be contractive for the sum of the error of flux in L2-norm and the scaled error estimator after each step of mesh refinement and to be quasi-optimal with respect to the number of elements of underlying partitions.The methods do not require a separate treatment for the data oscillation. 展开更多

The logistics routes allocation discusses optimal routing from origin to destination through distribution center (DC) on condition that both transport and distribution cost should be taken into account. The problem can be solved by the iterative non-linear programming (INLP), in which the transport cost and distribution cost are assumed to be linear and non-linear, respectively. The method works well in most situations. However, when the distribution cost predominates in the total cost, the method falls, and the solution given by the method is not a global minimum but a local minimum. Further study reveals that the INLP method is still a kind of transport routing method like vehicle routing problem (VRP), and the failure of the method must happen when the distribution cost is a major one. On such a condition, further computation on other extreme points, which physically means forcing all routes to pass through one DC one by one, should be carried out. By comparing values on these extreme points, the global optimal solution can be got. The method has both theoretical and practical meaning. In theoretical field, it might force us to seek new method; in practice, it reminds us to do such kind of check when the transport distance is short and warehousing work is major that often happens in local consolidation center or de-vanning center. 展开更多
