Based on the random utility maximum theory, the NL model is form...The effects of socio-demographics, land use characteristics and trip attributes on the commute mode choice are studied with a nested logit (NL) model. Based on the random utility maximum theory, the NL model is formulated. The analysis is carried out in the main area of Nanjing. Direct and cross elasticities are calculated to analyze the effects of travel time and travel cost on the selection of travel mode choice. The results reveal that the non-motorized travel modes are more attractive in the areas with higher housing and employment accessibility and car owners are found to be more likely to commute to work by car. The bus and subway choice probabilities are more sensitive to changes in travel times than to changes in travel costs. In conclusion, a comprehensive public transit system and effective integration of land use and transportation policies help to relieve the traffic congestion levels caused by the increasing urban sprawl.展开更多
This paper analyzes the characteristics of the destination distribution of trips and proposes a stratified sampling strategy for travel mode choice.The stratified sampling strategy can reduce the size of the alternati...This paper analyzes the characteristics of the destination distribution of trips and proposes a stratified sampling strategy for travel mode choice.The stratified sampling strategy can reduce the size of the alternative set;thus,the computation burden of simulation is decreased.Using the stratified sampling strategy,a combined choice model of the trip mode and destination is developed based on the Bayesian theory.Simulations are carried out to verify the proposed model.The results show that the combined choice model of the trip mode and destination can efficiently simulate travelers' choice behaviors.Furthermore,the forecasting accuracy of the combined choice model is higher than the one of the gravity model.Therefore,the proposed model is a powerful tool with which to analyze travelers' behaviors in selecting the trip mode.展开更多

The flow s...The hot deformation behavior and microstructure evolution of 1460 Al-Li alloy were investigated by isothermal compression test conducted at various strain rates(10-3-10 s-1) and temperatures(573-773 K). The flow stress curves were corrected by considering the friction at the platen/specimen interface and the temperature change due to the deformation heating. The effects of strain, strain rate and temperature on the deformation behavior were characterized by the Zener-Hollomon parameter in a hyperbolic-sine equation, and the constitutive equations were established according to the peak flow stress associated with dynamic recovery, dynamic recrystallization and the dissolution of T1 phases. In the entire strain rate and temperature range, the prediction capabilities of the developed constitutive equation are proved to be feasible and effective with a linear correlation coefficient and an average absolute relative error coefficient of 0.9909 and 6.72%, respectively.展开更多

The fuzzy logic controller is able to perform effectively even in situations where the information about the plant is ina...Effective guidance is one of the most important tasks to the performance of air-to-air missile. The fuzzy logic controller is able to perform effectively even in situations where the information about the plant is inaccurate and the operating conditions are uncertain. Based on the proportional navigation, the fuzzy logic and the genetic algorithm are combined to develop an evolutionary fuzzy navigation law with self-adapt region for the air-to-air missile guidance. The line of sight (LOS) rate and the closing speed between the missile and the target are inputs of the fuzzy controller. The output of the fuzzy controller is the commanded acceleration. Then a nonlinear function based on the conventional fuzzy logic control is imported to change the region. This nonlinear function can be changed with the input variables. So the dynamic change of the fuzzy variable region is achieved. The guidance law is optimized by the genetic algorithm. Simulation results of air-to-air missile attack using MATLAB show that the method needs less acceleration and shorter flying time, and its realization is simple.[KH*3/4D]展开更多

Chaotic behaviors from homoclinic crossings are analyzed with an improved Me...The chaotic dynamic behaviors of a reduction of perturbed Korteweg-de Vries (KdV) equation in form of a parametric excitation are studied. Chaotic behaviors from homoclinic crossings are analyzed with an improved Melnikov method and are compared for the systems with a periodically external excitation, with a linear periodically parametric excitation, or with a nonlinear periodically excitation. The critical curves separating chaotic regions and non-chaotic regions of the above systems are different from each other. Especially, a dead frequency is presented for the system with a nonlinear periodically parametric excitation. The chaos excited at the frequency does not occur no matter how large the excitation amplitude is. A time integration scheme is used to find the numerical solutions of these systems. Numerical results agree with the analytical ones.展开更多

The Expo 2010 Shanghai is taken as an e...This paper aims to provide a decision-making method for the transportation management strategies in guiding the transformation of trip mode choice during planned special events. The Expo 2010 Shanghai is taken as an example, and a structural equation model is employed to analyze the dynamic mechanism of trip mode choice behavior and the effectiveness of the transportation management measures at different stages. Based on the difference between the objective-oriented stated preference (SP) survey results and the objectives, together with the feedback from the previous stage survey, some adjustments on the transportation management measures are made in the next stage of the planning process until the objectives are eventually achieved. The results indicate that the adjustments on transportation management measures at different stages can effectively raise the transit share to 88.6%. Nonlocal visitors are inclined to choose nonstop modes of transportation and the companion attributes have the most significant effects on the trip mode choices of visitors. The research method is proved to be an effective way to support the decision making process of transportation management measures during planned special events in the future.展开更多

The Kriging approximate model with updating is introduced to reduce the computational cost of MDF caused by the complex structure. The computational efficiency is remarkably improved as the lack of iterative process during reliability analysis. Special attention is paid to a turbine blade design optimization by adopting the proposed method. Results show that the method is much more efficient than the commonly used double-loop based RBMDO method. It is feasible and efficient to apply the method to the engineering design.展开更多
