Through two protocols of research, during ten years from 2003 to 2012 and so on, of metropolitan changes in Bordeaux and travels in French and European cities, Christian Sallenave shows that: When everyone can write, tell and recognize his own story of town's changes, the cities know the best conditions for their sustainable development; Neither particular, nor general, but both in their specific dialectic; Neither panoptical and sovereign disciplines nor judgmental dopes, but both in their coming and goings and their "patriotic" property and register. A deep analysis of known patterns must be an important lesson as, first of all, we observe transformation of other regions, which gives rise to a question about the possibility of using positive model solutions in other urban contexts. Moreover, in every action contributing to the development of a region with traditions, we should use every potential, understood as accumulated energy and closed in facilities, individuals and their mutual relations. The article is divided into five parts: (1) a short history of Nord-Pas de Calais; (2) a significant introduction to history and spatial issues; (3) a description of corrective measures undertaken on the basis of, e.g., an urban analysis from the moment of taking a decision on ceasing coal mine extraction until today; (4) a description of"a concept for the region"; (5) conclusions---including a catalogue of actions, prepared by the author, where an important aspect will be the use of elements of spatial values and spatial identity of regions in the process of planning spatial, social and economic transformation. The main users spend most of their time to leisure, and to the enjoyment of the urban environment, so people must be attentive to the changing needs of visitors and be willing to transform their environment based on them. These changes must be environmentally sustainable and based on concepts of economic, environmental and social sustainability, people need to be prepared for the continuous recycling of the existence, and are always seeking to increase the energy efficiency. The rehabilitation in edificatory and urban terms must go hand in hand in this task if people want to achieve the objectives of environmental sustainability, combining the lives of residents with visitors, especially in poor energetic resource areas where the external dependency is very high, that is the case of the Canary Islands, where the scarcity of energy and water make necessary in a very small and densely populated area, the efficient use of resources and thus the reuse and transformation of what exists. The rehabilitation process of the poor quality buildings built in the 1970s has started, so people must not miss this new opportunity to improve environment to make it more sustainable.展开更多
