The existing maritime wireless communication sys- tems are presented and the development of the state-of-the-art maritime communication systems is surveyed. Furthermore, a hierarchical and integrated maritime network architecture is proposed to satisfy the increasing various classes of services which demand different Quality of Service (QoS). First of all, the Principal...A novel radio-map establishment based on fuzzy clustering for hybrid K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN) and Artifi cial Neural Network (ANN) position algorithm in WLAN indoor environment is proposed. First of all, the Principal Component Analysis (PCA) is utilized for the purpose of simplifying input dimensions of position estimation algorithm and saving storage cost for the establishment of radio-map. Then, reference points (RPs) calibrated in the off-line phase are divided into separate clusters by Fuzzy C-means clustering (FCM), and membership degrees (MDs) for different clusters are also allocated to each RPs. However, the singular RPs cased by the multi-path effect signifi cantly decreases the clustering performance. Therefore, a novel radio-map establishment method is presented based on the modifi cation of signal samples recorded at singular RPs by surface fitting. In the on-line phase, the region which the mobile terminal (MT) belongs to is estimated according to the MDs firstly. Then, in estimated small dimensional regions, MT's coordinates are calculated byKNN positioning method for efficiency purpose. However, for the regions including singular RPs, ANN method is utilized because ofits great pattern matching ability. Furthermore, compared with other typical indoor positioning methods, feasibility and effectiveness of this hybrid KNN/ANN method are also verified by the experimental results in static and tracking situations.展开更多

The symmetric encryption, hash and “challenge-response” techniques were adopted to build their protocol. To implement the mutual authentication and session key agreement, the proposed protocol contains two stages: namely initial procedure and real execution stage. Since the lightweight NTRU public key cryptography is employed, their protocol can not only overcome the security flaws of secret-key based authentication protocols such as those used in Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) and Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS), but also provide greater security and lower computational complexity in comparison with currently well-known public key based wireless authentication schemes such as Beller-Yacobi and M.Aydos protocols.展开更多

Both decode-and-forward(...In this paper,we introduce one full-duplex(FD) relaying transmission scheme for high speed railway and compare its ergodic capacity and outage performance with half-duplex(HD) relaying scheme. Both decode-and-forward(DF) amplify-and-forward(AF) relay modes are considered. Moreover,the carriage penetration loss(CPL) and the self-interference(SI) cancellation ratio are investigated. We derive the closed-form expressions for the outage probability and ergodic capacity of both HD and FD relay transmission schemes. It is shown that when CPL is larger than a certain level,the FD relay can achieve better performance in terms of capacity and keep the outage probability in a low level. It is also found that three factors: AF or DF modes,CPL and SI cancellation ratio,can have impact on capacity performance,and that CPL is one decisive factor. Our results can provide theoretical supports for development and deployment of future wireless communication systems on high speed railways.展开更多

Therefore, how to achieve robust transmission for cognitive relay networks is a challenging task. In this paper, we propose a relaying transmission scheme which exploits robust beamforming at the physical layer and rateless codes at higher layers. We derive the optirml beamforng weight vector and analyze the perforrmnce of the pro- posed scheme when the channel estirmtion is not accurate between two SU nodes. We also study how the anaount of channel information between SU and PU impacts the system perforroance. In order to increase its accuracy and reliability, a new iterating channel estimation algorithm combining the logarithm likelihood ratio (LLR) decode iterate based on the maximum likelihood estimation (ML) is proposed in this paper, which estimates iteration channel in combination with LLR decode. Without estimating the channel noise power, it exchanges the information between the ML channel estimation and the LLR decode using the feedback information of LLR decode. The decoding speed is very quick, and the satisfied result will be obtained by iterating in some time. The simulation results of the shortwave broadband channel in the coal mine show that the error rate of the system is basically convergent after the iteration in two times.展开更多

It is a duplex channel communication system utilizing signal emitters of white LED lights in the downlink and infrared devices in the uplink. Strategies for the system construction are given. Performance for users' mobile access of different kinds of optical concentrators is investigated. Indoor channel band-width is analyzed considering white LED light distribution, wall reflection, and receivers field of view (FOV). Various modulation methods are discussed. A demo point-to-point system for surfing the net is constructed using a new line code of 4B6B which is developed to stabilize the optical output, and a peak data rate of 1 Mbps is achieved. This system is built into the lighting infrastructure, therefore decreasing the cost and offering a solution for wireless access in places which are sensitive to radio frequency like hospitals.展开更多

The integrated system consists of four major components: l) Microelectrodes and micro-driver assembly, 2) analog front end (AFE), 3) programmable system on chip (PSoC), and 4) ra- dio transceiver and the LabVIEW were used as a platform for the graphic user interface. The result showed the system was able to record and analyze neuronal recordings in freely moving animals and lasted continuously for a time period of a week or more. This is very useful for the study of the interdisciplinary research of neu- roscience and information engineering techniques. The circuits and architecture of the devices can be adapted for neurobiology and research with other small animals.展开更多
Comprehensive radiation characteristics of polarized antenna are crucial in creating practical channel coefficients for next generation wireless communication system designs.Being currently supported within3 D geometr...Comprehensive radiation characteristics of polarized antenna are crucial in creating practical channel coefficients for next generation wireless communication system designs.Being currently supported within3 D geometry-based stochastic channel models(GSCM),field patterns are technically obtained by chamber measurement(or by its best fitting).However,in some channel related performance analysis scenarios,design insight can be crystallized better by starting the derivations with theoretical co-polarization and cross-polarization components.Specifically,these two components are mathematically linked with field patterns through the proposed polarization projection algorithm.In this manuscript,we focus on revealing the transformation criterion of polarization states between the antenna plane and the propagation plane.In practice,it makes retrieving the field patterns by electromagnetic computation possible.Meanwhile,the impact imposed by distinct antenna orientations is geometrically illustrated and consequently incorporated into the proposed algorithm.This will further facilitate flexible performance evaluation of related radio transmission technologies.Our conclusions are verified by the closed-form expression of the dipole field pattern(via an analytical approach) and by chamber measurement results.Moreover,we find that its 2D degenerative case is aligned with the definitions in 3^(rd) generation partnership project(3GPP)technical report 25.996.The most obvious benefit of the proposed algorithm is to significantly reduce the cost on generating channel coefficients in GSCM simulation.展开更多

After comparing DSRC with PHS, this paper discussed the framework and layer structure of the DSRC and PHS system. Besides the functions concerned as vehicle identification and wireless communication, this paper also designed routing identification and toll apportionment functions to meet the needs of ETC. And the newly-designed functions could not be provided by DSRC system. By appending the Presentation Layer, the system could make full use of the existing function modules of DSRC and PHS, and the reconstruction would be greatly saved. Moreover, the system could extend many value-added services of PHS to the expressway, such as real-time traffic advisories, up-to-date navigation guidance, emergency communication, etc.展开更多

文摘Channel estimation using pilot is common used in OFDM system.The pilot is usually time division multiplexed with the informative sequence.One of the main drawbacks is bandwidth losing.In this paper,a new method was proposed to perform channel estimation in OFDM system.The pilot is arithmetically added to the output of OFDM modulator.Receiver uses the hidden pilot to get an accurate estimation of the channel.Then pilot is removed after channel estimation.The Cramer-Rao lower bound for this method was deprived.The performance of the algorithm is then shown.Compared with traditional methods,the proposed algorithm increases the bandwidth efficiency dramatically.
文摘A new optical wireless network based on white LED lights in home area is proposed. It is a duplex channel communication system utilizing signal emitters of white LED lights in the downlink and infrared devices in the uplink. Strategies for the system construction are given. Performance for users' mobile access of different kinds of optical concentrators is investigated. Indoor channel band-width is analyzed considering white LED light distribution, wall reflection, and receivers field of view (FOV). Various modulation methods are discussed. A demo point-to-point system for surfing the net is constructed using a new line code of 4B6B which is developed to stabilize the optical output, and a peak data rate of 1 Mbps is achieved. This system is built into the lighting infrastructure, therefore decreasing the cost and offering a solution for wireless access in places which are sensitive to radio frequency like hospitals.

文摘To collect neuronal activity data from awake, freely behaving animals, we developed miniature telemetry recording system. The integrated system consists of four major components: l) Microelectrodes and micro-driver assembly, 2) analog front end (AFE), 3) programmable system on chip (PSoC), and 4) ra- dio transceiver and the LabVIEW were used as a platform for the graphic user interface. The result showed the system was able to record and analyze neuronal recordings in freely moving animals and lasted continuously for a time period of a week or more. This is very useful for the study of the interdisciplinary research of neu- roscience and information engineering techniques. The circuits and architecture of the devices can be adapted for neurobiology and research with other small animals.

文摘Comprehensive radiation characteristics of polarized antenna are crucial in creating practical channel coefficients for next generation wireless communication system designs.Being currently supported within3 D geometry-based stochastic channel models(GSCM),field patterns are technically obtained by chamber measurement(or by its best fitting).However,in some channel related performance analysis scenarios,design insight can be crystallized better by starting the derivations with theoretical co-polarization and cross-polarization components.Specifically,these two components are mathematically linked with field patterns through the proposed polarization projection algorithm.In this manuscript,we focus on revealing the transformation criterion of polarization states between the antenna plane and the propagation plane.In practice,it makes retrieving the field patterns by electromagnetic computation possible.Meanwhile,the impact imposed by distinct antenna orientations is geometrically illustrated and consequently incorporated into the proposed algorithm.This will further facilitate flexible performance evaluation of related radio transmission technologies.Our conclusions are verified by the closed-form expression of the dipole field pattern(via an analytical approach) and by chamber measurement results.Moreover,we find that its 2D degenerative case is aligned with the definitions in 3^(rd) generation partnership project(3GPP)technical report 25.996.The most obvious benefit of the proposed algorithm is to significantly reduce the cost on generating channel coefficients in GSCM simulation.

文摘Channel estimation is a key technology in indoor wireless visible light communications(VLCs).Using the training sequence(TS),this paper investigates the channel estimation in indoor wireless visible light communications.Based on the propagation and signal modulation characteristics of visible light,a link model for the indoor wireless visible light communications is established.Using the model,three channel estimation methods,i.e.,the correlation method,the least square(LS) method and the minimum mean square error(MMSE) method,are proposed.Moreover,the performances of the proposed three methods are evaluated by computer simulation.The results show that the performance of the correlation method is the worst,the LS method is suitable for higher signal to noise ratio(SNR),and the MMSE method obtains the best performance at the expense of highest complexity.
文摘The PHS (Personal Handy phone System) technology developed in Japan realized high quality and low cost mobile communication in a micro cell and abundant valueadded services. Having considered many advantages of PHS, this paper proposed PHS-ETC online system as a technological evolution to substitute for the traditional DSRC-ETC. After comparing DSRC with PHS, this paper discussed the framework and layer structure of the DSRC and PHS system. Besides the functions concerned as vehicle identification and wireless communication, this paper also designed routing identification and toll apportionment functions to meet the needs of ETC. And the newly-designed functions could not be provided by DSRC system. By appending the Presentation Layer, the system could make full use of the existing function modules of DSRC and PHS, and the reconstruction would be greatly saved. Moreover, the system could extend many value-added services of PHS to the expressway, such as real-time traffic advisories, up-to-date navigation guidance, emergency communication, etc.
