Modulatable orthogonal polyphase sequence is utilized in training symbol design regarding its correlation properties. The time synchronization and channel estimation are achieved by measuring the correlation between the received training sequence and the locally generated training sequence. Repeated training symbols are used to get carrier frequency offset (CFO) estimation. It is shown from the analysis that the accuracy of frequency synchronization is close to the Cramer-Rao lower bound. The training sequences are optimal for channel estimation based on the minimum mean square error (MMSE).展开更多

At present, many standard organizations and manufacturers of WLAN try to solve this problem. However, owing to the serious secure leak in IEEES02.11 standards, it is impossible to utterly solve the problem by simply adding some remedies. Based on the analysis on the security mechanism of WLAN and the latest techniques of WI.AN security, a solution to WLAN security was presented. The solution makes preparation for the further combination of WLAN and Internet.展开更多

By combining free space and modified waveguide propagation models, we propose a new hybrid propagation model based on ray tracing. Simulation results have shown the effectiveness of establishing a wireless Local Area Network (LAN) in this coal-mine environment. It is based on one OFDM symbol with several identical slots as preamble, the time domain repetition structure of which can be utilized to accomplish OFDM timing/frequency synchronization. The cell ID is comprised of two parts: a sub-carrier mask index g and a sequence index x. Each sub-carrier mask activates or deactivates some of the sub-carriers, after which a differentially coded sequence is loaded on pairs of the adjacent active sub-carriers. The user equipment (UE) recognizes the mask with index g via power detection of the received frequency domain signal. Then it estimates the index x from differential demodulation followed by detection of the frequency domain se-quence. In order to improve the performance, a method of jointly estimating g and x is devised. Simulation results showed that the proposed scheme is able to support a very large number of cell IDs while maintaining a good performance even in bad multi-cell environment.展开更多

Upon detecting an arrival of the CN, the sender will abort the ongoing transmission immediately. However, in low signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio(SINR), the false alarm of the CN occurs frequently, which might force a sender not to transmit any frame at all. To overcome this drawback, this paper proposes CSMA/CN+ to enhance the performance of CSMA/CN. In CSMA/CN+, we introduce an additional signature. The receiver, adapting to channel conditions and self-signal suppression capability, prudently determines whether to send back zero, one, or two signatures to the sender. In this way, we can reduce or exclude false alarms and therefore improve the system performance. In this paper, we first present the design of CSMA/CN+. We then apply the design in a wireless LAN, and theoretically analyze the detection performance of the notification and the system throughput. Extensive simulations verify that CSMA/CN+ can remarkably improve the system throughput of CSMA/CN and our analysis is very accurate.展开更多
