It's impossible to learn English without reading. So for many years, English teachers have been engaging themselves in the research of teaching reading effectively and they have proposed useful ways of teaching reading, such as bottom-up and top-down. Recently, the research in native English readers has shown that teaching of the text structure can facilitate first language reading. Based on the research in native English reading, the author carries out the research where top-level structure is applied to 'New Horizon College English'. The basic approaches in this essay are 'cause—effect' 'problem—solution' and 'time sequence'. The practice has proved that the application of top-level structure can guide the readers to build up the awareness of text structure and it can help the students overcome language and cultural barriers.展开更多
Singular spectrum analysis （SSA） is a technique that decomposes a time series into a set of components, such as, trend, harmonics, and residuals. Leaving out the residual components and adding up the others, the tim...Singular spectrum analysis （SSA） is a technique that decomposes a time series into a set of components, such as, trend, harmonics, and residuals. Leaving out the residual components and adding up the others, the time series can be smoothed. This procedure has been used to model Brazilian electricity consumption and flow series. The PAR（p）, periodic autoregressive models, has been broadly used in modelling energy series in Brazil. This paper presents an approach of this decomposition method, by fitting the PAR（p）, considering its multivariate version known as multivariate SSA （MSSA）. The method was applied to a vector of two wind speed series recorded at two locations in the Brazilian Northeast region. The obtained results, when compared to the univariate decomposition of each series, were far superior, showing that the spatial correlation between the two series were considered by MSSA decomposition stage.展开更多

In this paper, we identify a specific class of 0-1 programming problems that is polynomially solvable, and propose two polynomial-time algorithms to find its optimal solutions. This class of 0-1 programming problems commits to a wide range of real-world industrial applications. We provide an instance of representative in the field of supply chain management.展开更多
