An observation box was located on the 3rd floor of the vehicle. Device to measure temperature, humidity and video camera to monitor pigs' behaviors were fitted in the box. Eighteen measurements were performed during two seasons for 4, 8, and 12 h of transport time with three replications. Meat samples were taken from longissimus dorsi (LD) and the carcases were chilled for 24 h at +4 ~C for pH determination. To determine cortisol, glucose, lactate, and creatine kinase concentration levels, blood samples were collected before and after transport from 90 pigs and from 20 controls that were not transported for control purposes. To evaluate behavioural alterations, frequency of events and durations were considered. Highest pH24 of 5.99 + 0.29 occurred during summer at 12 h transport time. Cortisol concentrations elevated during short and decreased with an increase of transport time (P 〈 0.001). Highest and lowest glucose concentrations for winter and summer were at 8 and 12 h transport time, respectively (P 〈 0.01). Concentrations of lactate and creatine kinase positively correlated with transport time (P 〈 0.002). Lying, sitting, rooting and vocalization behaviours correlated with transport time (P 〈 0.009). Certain THI values during summer surpassed normal (〉 74) level during loading. The pH24 value correlated with transport time during summer. Lactate and creatine kinase concentrations increased with an increase in transport time but for Glucose, highest value was at 8 h transport time.展开更多

The major reason for high ammonia concentrations is the large amounts of stored and exposed manure. The possibility to reduce ammonia release by reducing the amount of stored manure in bins in floor housing systems for laying hens has therefore been investigated. Investigations were carried out in a climate chamber equipped with a floor housing system with a manure removal system with two parallel motor driven conveyors placed below an elevated draining floor. The conditions when manure is stored in bins below draining floors were simulated by storing manure on the conveyors for several days at constant ventilation rates and temperatures. The investigations clearly showed that storage of manure in the bin caused a rapid increase in ammonia concentrations. After about 7 days storage of manure in the bin the ammonia concentration exceeded the hygienic threshold limit values. It can be concluded that long time storage of manure in storage bins below draining floors should not be recommended. It was possible to maintain the ammonia concentration below the hygienic threshold limit values when manure was removed frequently with conveyors. Floor housing systems for laying hens with elevated draining floors should therefore be equipped with manure removal systems that enable frequent removal of manure in the bins.展开更多

According to the literature, the usability of the same ranges from 10 clays to 2! days. The aim was to determine the usefulness of such a maximum time preserved grafts. This study comprised 50 patients, of which, take parts of skin with the size of 3 cm × 5 cm. It started from the 11th day after the 5 preparation were divided, one of which is a part applied to a suitable surface for accepting the transplant, the second part of the extended conservation 10 more days (to be transplanted) and the third placed in formalin and sent to histopatological analysis. Then, a series of five preparations were made, in which each subsequent extended period of conservation by one day longer, ending their 20th day. Usability over 50% of grafts preserved in NaCl solutions up to 20 days, and then felt. It is possible that a transplant is used with 30 days of preservation, but this is the exception, not the usual state.展开更多

Measurements were made on five animals on each trip. Stress response parameters considered were cortisol, glucose, lactate, creatine kinase and heart rate. Blood samples were taken before and after transport. Heart rate sensors were mounted on the animals at least 30 minutes before loading and measurements were made continuously from farms to the abattoirs until stunning. The results of heart rate measurement indicated that loading, un-loading and forced movement in the stunning box were the most stressful events. However, the results of statistical analysis confirmed that transport time doesn't have significant effect (P 〈 0.05) on heart rate. Concentration level of cortisol increased by 10 folds during short transport. However, cortisol concentration decreased with an increase of transport times (P 〈 0.01). Glucose concentrations increased with transport time in all animal categories (P ≤ 0.01). Transport time has significant effect on concentration levels of glucose (P ≤ 0.01), creatine kinase (P 〈 0.001) and lactate (P 〈 0.01) particularly after 6 hours journey time.展开更多

It is found that the oscillatory behavior claimed in previous investigations does not appear in the approximation of small time delay, and the steady state distribution still follows the Poisson law. Furthermore, we introduce the extrinsic noise induced by surrounding environment to explore the effects of this noise and time delay on the Fano factor. Based on a delay Langevin equation and the corresponding Fokker–Planck equation, the distribution of m RNA copy-number is achieved analytically. The time delay and extrinsic noise play similar roles in the gene expression system, that is, they are able to result in the deviation of the Fano factor from 1 evidently. The measured Fano factor for constitutive gene expression is slightly larger than 1, which is perhaps attributed to the time-delay effect.展开更多

Because of different time scales, the overdamped and underdamped Langevin equations(as well as the corresponding Fokker-Planck equations) lead to distinctive restrictions on protocols maintaining canonical distributions. Two special cases are analyzed in details: First, a Brownian particle is controlled by a time-dependent harmonic potential and embedded in medium with constant temperature; Second, a Brownian particle is controlled by a timedependent harmonic potential and embedded in a medium whose temperature is tuned together with the potential stiffness to keep a constant effective temperature of the Brownian particle. We find that the canonical distributions are usually retainable for both the overdamped and underdamped situations in the former case. However, the canonical distributions are retainable merely for the overdamped situation in the latter case. We also investigate general time-dependent potentials beyond the harmonic form and find that the retainability of canonical distributions depends sensitively on the specific form of potentials.展开更多
