In which, the ARIMA model is used as the mean equation of the GARCH model to model the travel time levels and the GARCH model is used to model the conditional variances of travel time. The proposed method is validated and evaluated using actual traffic flow data collected from the traffic monitoring system of Kunshan city. The evaluation results show that, compared with the conventional ARIMA model, the proposed model cannot significantly improve the forecasting performance of travel time levels but has advantage in travel time volatility forecasting. The proposed model can well capture the travel time heteroskedasticity and forecast the time-varying confidence intervals of travel time which can better reflect the volatility of observed travel times than the fixed confidence interval provided by the ARIMA model.展开更多

There has been increasing interest in verifying and understanding the coupling between the respiration and the heart rate. In this paper we use the nonlinear detection method to detect the nonlinear deterministic component in the physiological time series by a single variable series and two variables series respectively, and use the conditional information entropy to analyze the correlation between the heart rate, the respiration and the blood oxygen concentration. The conclusions are that there is the nonlinear deterministic component in the heart rate data and respiration data, and the heart rate and the respiration are two variables originating from the same underlying dynamics.展开更多

In addition to delay, the variability and reliability of travel time has been of concern to motorists on their daily travel, especially during peak periods. The objective of this study is to examine freeway travel time variability and reliability under different traffic and weather conditions with the use of TRANSMIT data collected by roadside readers deployed on a 40-mile segment of the Interstate Highway 1-287 in New Jersey. Travel time variability and reliability measures including mean travel time, the 95th percentile travel time, travel time index, buffer index, and planning time index under recurring and non-recurring congestion (adverse weather) are investigated. It was found that the standard deviation of travel time increased, due to the weather condition varying from dry to rain and to snow, while the buffer index increased from 29% to 45% and to 94%.展开更多

Methods and Results The multicompartment model of neuron and NEURON software were used to study the external influences on cerebellar cortical cells. Various potential spike patterns in these cells were obtained. By analyzing the impacts of different incoming stimuli on the potential spike of Purkinje cell, temporal focusing caused by the granule cell-golgi cell feedback inhibitory loop to Purkinje cell and spa- tial focusing caused by the parallel fiber-basket/stellate cell local inhibitory loop to Purkinje cell were discussed. Finally, the motor learning process of rabbit eye blink conditioned reflex was demonstrated in this model. The simulation results showed that when the afferent from climbing fiber existed, rabbit adaptation to eye blinking gradually became stable under the Spike Timing-Dependent Plasticity (STDP) learning rule. Conclusion The constructed cerebellar cortex network is a reliable and feasible model. The model simulation results confirmed the output signal stability of cerebellar cortex after STDP learning and the network can execute the function of spatial and temporal focusing.展开更多

To this end, we first establish some new energy identities for the 2D Maxwell equations in a lossy medium with a PEC boundary condition. Then by making use of these energy identities, it is proved that the FDTD scheme and its time difference scheme are stable in the discrete L2 and H1 norms when the CFL condition is satisfied. It is shown further that the solution to both the FDTD scheme and its time difference scheme is second-order convergent in both space and time in the discrete L2 and H1 norms under a slightly stricter condition than the CFL condition. This means that the solution to the FDTD scheme is superconvergent. Numerical results are also provided to confirm the theoretical analysis.展开更多

Cubic and quintic nonlinearities together with derivative terms are considered. The Lax pairs and integrability conditions for some of the well-known nonlinear Schrdinger equations, including a new equation which was not considered previously in the literature, are then derived as special cases. We show most clearly with a similarity transformation that the higher-order terms restrict the integrability to linear potential in contrast with quadratic potential for the standard nonlinear Schrdinger equation.展开更多

The martingale problem associated to this model is shown to have a family of solutions satisfying the Markov property, which is achieved by means of an abstract selection principle. The Markov property is crucial to extend the regularity of the transition semigroup from small times to arbitrary times. Thus, under a regular additive noise, every Markov solution is shown to have a property of continuous dependence on initial conditions, which follows from employing the weak-strong uniqueness principle and the Bismut-Elworthy-Li formula.展开更多

Several criteria of exponential stability are given by introducing multiple Lyapunov functions. In comparison with the existing publications on simplice memristive neural networks or switching neural net- works, we consider a system with a series of switchings, these switchings are assumed to be synchronous with memristive switching mechanism. Moreover, the proposed stability conditions are straightforward and convenient and can reflect the impact of time delay on the stability. Two examples are also presented to illustrate the effectiveness of the theoretical results.展开更多
