The correlation was developed for certain temperatures to find an equation for the relation between time and weight. The thermal treatment was done for different quantities at certain times. The proposed equation studies the correlation between temperature, time, and weight. For each temperature, a number of points were recorded from the measured oxidation curve. The shape of the curves is well-represented in this paper. The final results will present the highest temperature, the maximum weight, and the maximum time for full oxidation at high and low temperatures.展开更多

METHODS:This study was a retrospective review of 157 patients treated with acute diverticulitis between January 1,2004 and December 31,2007.Diverticulitis was stratified according to the Hinchey classification. Patients were divided into 2 populations:group A≤ 50 years(n=31) ;group B>50 years(n=126) .Mean patient follow-up was 15 mo. RESULTS:The median age was 60 years.A significantly higher proportion of patients in group B presented with complicated diverticulitis(36.5%vs 12.9%,P=0.01) .Recurrence was more frequent in group A(25.8%vs 11.1%,P=0.03) and the mean time-torecurrence was shorter(12 mo vs 28 mo,P=0.26) . The most severe recurrent episodes of acute diverticulitis were classified as Hinchey stageⅠand none of the patients required emergency surgery. In multivariate analysis, only age(P=0.024) was identified as an independent prognostic factor for recurrence. CONCLUSION:Based on the results of this study,we recommend that diverticulitis management should be based on the severity of the disease and not on the age of the patient.展开更多

Due to the advances of modern technology, big data becomes increasingly accessible and consequently the problem of reconstructing systems from measured data or time series plays a central role in many scientific disciplines. In recent decades, nonlinear methods rooted in state space reconstruction have been developed, and they do not assume any model equations but can recover the dynamics purely from the measured time series data. In this review, the development of state space reconstruction techniques will be introduced and the recent advances in systems prediction and causality inference using state space reconstruction will be presented. Particularly, the cutting-edge method to deal with short-term time series data will be focused on.Finally, the advantages as well as the remaining problems in this field are discussed.展开更多

In this paper, we compare the virial products of the infrared time lags, and the narrow Fe Ka widths for 10 type 1 AGNs, with the black hole masses from other techniques. We found the narrow Fe Ka line width is in average 2.6+0.9-0.4 times broader than expected, assuming an isotropic velocity distribution of the torus at the distance measured by the infrared lags. We propose the thick disk model of the torus may explain the observed larger line width. Another possibility is the contamination by emission from the broad line region or the outer accretion disk. Alternatively, the narrow iron line might originate from the inner most part of the obscuring torus within the sublimation radius, while the infrared emission may be from the outer cooler part. We note the correlations between the black hole masses based on this new technique and those based on other known techniques are statistically insignificant. We argue that this could be attributed to the small sample size and the very large uncertainties in the measurements of iron K line widths. The next generation of X-ray observatories could help verify the origin of the narrow iron Ka line and the reliability of this new technique.展开更多
