However, the value of KM mice to the research community has been severely limited, partially due to the fact that well-characterized inbred strain of KM mice is not available. Several expected inbred strains from KM mice have been bred, but their genetic purity remains uncertain. In this study, four expected inbred strains of KM mice (A1, T2, N2, and N4) were chosen and their inbred degree were compared with two classical inbred mouse lines (BALB/c and C57BL/6) by analyzing the genotypes of about 30 microsatellite markers. In the four strains, A1 and N4 were homozygous at all genotyped loci, but N2 and T2 were only heterozygous at locus D15Mit16. These results indicate that the level of genetic purity/homozygousity of A1, N4, N2, and T2 inbred line is comparable to those of BALB/c and C57BL/6. This study provided the first and solid evidence for genetic purity of four expected inbred strains of KM mice. These 4 inbred mice strains should be well maintained for further characterization and utilization in genetic studies.展开更多

Countless research studies have demonstrated the detrimental effects of incivility and bullying in healthcare.Despite the abundance of proposed solutions to this issue,many healthcare leaders continue to fail in mitig...Countless research studies have demonstrated the detrimental effects of incivility and bullying in healthcare.Despite the abundance of proposed solutions to this issue,many healthcare leaders continue to fail in mitigating the existence of such negative behaviors in the workplace.Personality attributes of perpetrators and victims have received attention,but much less research has examined the organizational and neoliberal causations of incivility and bullying in healthcare.Being the largest occupational group in the health sector,nursing professionals have the greatest influence and are crucial in ending these behaviors.This discussion paper outlines the effects of incivility and bullying in healthcare and provides a critical analysis on how organizational culture and neoliberal ideology influence the pervasiveness and persistence of these negative behaviors.The analysis reveals that organizational cultures that misuse power,disregard equality,and facilitate oppression,foster the existence of incivility and bullying in the workplace.Such cultures permit perpetrators to misuse their authority to control resource allocation,ignorance to social inequalities,and the silence of victims.Furthermore,the neoliberal concept of deregulation,austerity,and individualism further these behaviors.The neoliberal reforms have led to underfunding of anti-bullying programs and policies,use of bullying behaviours as management strategies,and victim-blaming for profit maximization.Financial cutbacks have resulted in denial and acceptance of uncivil and bullying behaviours in healthcare institutions,which endangers the rights of healthcare providers to a safe workplace environment.To curtail these negative behaviors,robust anti-bullying policies and programs must be strictly enforced and sustained in practice.Further exploration on the association of organizational culture and neoliberal principles to incivility and bullying in healthcare is greatly warranted.展开更多

The synthetic probe is a doubleresponsive fluorescent and colorimetric Cu^2+s...A novel fluorescence "turnon" probe for CH^2+ detection has been designed based on a Cu^2+ triggered spirolactam ringopening reaction. The synthetic probe is a doubleresponsive fluorescent and colorimetric Cu^2+specific sensor. In aqueous solution, it exhibits high selectivity and excellent sensitivity. With a significant color change visible to the naked eye at the concentration of 3 I.tM (ca. 0.19 mg/L), about one magnitude lower than the WHO (World Health Organization) recommended level (2.0 mg/L) for Cu^2+ions in drinking water, the probe could be used to monitor Cu^2+ ions in drinking water.展开更多
Objective: To analyze the time factor in road traffic accidents (RTAs) in Fats Province of Iran. Methods: This study was conducted in Fars Province, Iran from November 22, 2009 to November 21,2011. Victims' info...Objective: To analyze the time factor in road traffic accidents (RTAs) in Fats Province of Iran. Methods: This study was conducted in Fars Province, Iran from November 22, 2009 to November 21,2011. Victims' information consisted of age, sex, death toll involving dri- vers or passengers of cars, motorcycles and pedestrians, and site of injury etc. Accidents were analyzed in relation to hour of the day, season of the year, lighting condition in- cluding sunrise, sunset, daytime and nighttime. Results: Atotal of 3 642 deaths (78.3% were males, and the ratio of males to females was about 3.6:1) were studied regarding their autopsy records. There was a steady in- crease in fatal accidents occurring at midnight to 15:59. The risk of being involved in a fatal traffic accident was higherfor those injured between 4:00 to 7:59 than at other times (OR=2.13, 95% C11.85-2.44). The greatest number of fatal RTAs took place in summer. Mortalities due to RTA during spring and summer were more pronounced at 20:00 to 23:59 and midnight to 3:59, whereas mortalities in fall and winter were more pronounced from 12:00 to 15:59. Conclusion: The high mortality rate ofRTAis a major public health problem in Fars Province. Our results indicate that the time is an important factor which contributes to road traffic deaths.展开更多
