Beta Ti−35Nb sandwich-structured composites with various reinforcing layers were designed and produced using additive manufacturing(AM)to achieve a balance between light weight and high strength.The impact of reinforc...Beta Ti−35Nb sandwich-structured composites with various reinforcing layers were designed and produced using additive manufacturing(AM)to achieve a balance between light weight and high strength.The impact of reinforcing layers on the compressive deformation behavior of porous composites was investigated through micro-computed tomography(Micro-CT)and finite element method(FEM)analyses.The results indicate that the addition of reinforcement layers to sandwich structures can significantly enhance the compressive yield strength and energy absorption capacity of porous metal structures;Micro-CT in-situ observation shows that the strain of the porous structure without the reinforcing layer is concentrated in the middle region,while the strain of the porous structure with the reinforcing layer is uniformly distributed;FEM analysis reveals that the reinforcing layers can alter stress distribution and reduce stress concentration,thereby promoting uniform deformation of the porous structure.The addition of reinforcing layer increases the compressive yield strength of sandwich-structured composite materials by 124%under the condition of limited reduction of porosity,and the yield strength increases from 4.6 to 10.3 MPa.展开更多

Two-dimensional (2-D) equations of growth velocities of the dendrite tip, interface curvature and anisotropy of the surface energy were extended to 3-D system in the model. Therefore, the model was able to describe the morphology evolution of 3-D dendrites. Then, the model was applied to simulate the mechanism of spacing adjustment for 3-D columnar dendrite growth, and the competitive growth of columnar dendrites with different preferred growth orientations under constant temperature gradient and pulling velocity. Directional solidification experiments of NH4Cl-H2O transparent alloy were performed. It was found that the simulated results compared well with the experimental results. Therefore, the model was reliable for simulating the 3-D dendrite growth of cubic system alloys.展开更多
A hybrid identification model based on multilayer artificial neural networks(ANNs) and particle swarm optimization(PSO) algorithm is developed to improve the simultaneous identification efficiency of thermal conductiv...A hybrid identification model based on multilayer artificial neural networks(ANNs) and particle swarm optimization(PSO) algorithm is developed to improve the simultaneous identification efficiency of thermal conductivity and effective absorption coefficient of semitransparent materials.For the direct model,the spherical harmonic method and the finite volume method are used to solve the coupled conduction-radiation heat transfer problem in an absorbing,emitting,and non-scattering 2D axisymmetric gray medium in the background of laser flash method.For the identification part,firstly,the temperature field and the incident radiation field in different positions are chosen as observables.Then,a traditional identification model based on PSO algorithm is established.Finally,multilayer ANNs are built to fit and replace the direct model in the traditional identification model to speed up the identification process.The results show that compared with the traditional identification model,the time cost of the hybrid identification model is reduced by about 1 000 times.Besides,the hybrid identification model remains a high level of accuracy even with measurement errors.展开更多

Impact energies of 50, 70 and 100 J were applied to the specimens in impact tests. The results show that the striker penetrates the upper face sheet, causing the core to be damaged at 50 J test but the lower face sheet remains intact with no damage. At 70 J test, the striker penetrates the upper face sheet and the core,and causes the lower face sheet to be damaged. Finally at 100 J test, the striker penetrates both the upper face sheet and the core, and even the lower face sheet. The experimental and simulation results agree with each other. By the confirmation with the experimental results, all these simulation results can be applied on structure study of real sandwich composite with aluminum foam core effectively.展开更多

It is found that the tr...Based on Fabry model and finite-different time-domain(FDTD) method, the plasmonic structure composed of a metal-insulator-metal(MIM) bus waveguide and a side-coupled resonator was investigated. It is found that the transmission features can be regulated by the cavity width and coupling distance. Electromagnetically induced transparency(EIT)-like transmission can be excited by adding an identical resonator on the pre-existing structure. Combining the foregoing theoretical analysis with coupled mode theory(CMT), the formation process of the EIT-like transmission was detailedly analyzed. EIT-like transmission can also be excited in plasmonic structure with two detuned resonators. By altering the structure parameters, the transparency window can be purposefully modulated. With the merits of compact structure and simplicity in fabrication, the proposed structures may have a broad prospect of applications in highly integrated optical circuits.展开更多
The event of mutations in the surface antigen gene of hepatitis B virus(HBV) results in undetectable hepatitis B surface antigen with positive/negative anti-hepatitis B core(anti-HBc) antibody status in serum and this...The event of mutations in the surface antigen gene of hepatitis B virus(HBV) results in undetectable hepatitis B surface antigen with positive/negative anti-hepatitis B core(anti-HBc) antibody status in serum and this phenomenon is named occult hepatitis B infection(OBI). The presence of anti-HBc antibody in serum is an important key for OBI tracking, although about 20% of OBI cases are negative for anti-HBc antibody. The diagnosis of OBI is mainly based on polymerase chain reaction(PCR) and real-time PCR assays. However, real-time PCR is a more reliable method than PCR. OBI is a great issue for the public health problem and a challenge for the clinical entity worldwide. The persistence of OBI may lead to the development of cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma. With regard to OBI complications, the screening of HBV DNA by the highly sensitive molecular means should be implemented for:(1) patients with a previous history of chronic or acute HBV infection;(2) patients co-infected with hepatitis C virus/human immunodeficiency virus;(3) patients undergoing chemotherapy or anti-CD20 therapy;(4) recipients of organ transplant;(5) blood donors;(6) organ transplant donors;(7) thalassemia and hemophilia patients;(8) health care workers;(9) patients with liver related disease(cryptogenic);(10) hemodialysis patients;(11) patients undergoing lamivudine or interferon therapy; and(12) children in time of HBV vaccination especially in highly endemic areas of HBV. Active HBV vaccination should be implemented for the close relatives of patients who are negative for OBI markers. Thus, the goal of this review is to evaluate the rate of OBI with a focus on status of high risk groups in different regions of the world.展开更多

Despite the fact that HABP1 possesses mitochondrial localization signal, it has also been localized to other cellular compartments. Using indirect immunofluorescence, we examined the sub-cellular localization of HABP1 and its dynamics during mitosis. We wanted to determine whether it distributes in any distinctive manner after mitotic nuclear envelope disassembly or is dispersed randomly throughout the cell. Our results reveal the golgi localization of HABP1 and demonstrate its complete dispersion throughout the cell during mitosis. This distinctive distribution pattern of HABP1 during mitosis resembles its ligand hyaluronan, suggesting that in concert with each other the two molecules play critical roles in this dynamic process.展开更多

In no case can such a change in our outlook yield more illuminating results than a serious look at the 1608 Quarto version of Shakespeare's King Lear. The 1623 Folio version and the "conflated" modem editions, which combine the "best" readings of the Quarto and Folio versions, both anoint his godson Edgar, the Earl of Gloucester, as the new king at the end. However, the 1608 Quarto version elevates, not Edgar, but Lear's son-in-law, the Duke of Albany, to the kingship at the end. Shakespeare may be telling the same story in texts that seem strikingly similar, but the difference in the endings shifts the center of gravity in both plays, requiring an interpretation that makes sense out this difference. The title page of the 1608 Quarto version of King Lear describes it as a "history"; yet this "same" King Lear is listed as a "tragedy" in the 1623 Folio. METHODS: The complex of HA-PL (named Haplex) was prepared by film ...AIM: To prepare a complex of hyaluronic acid (HA) and phospholipids (PL), and study the improvement effect of PL on the oral absorption of HA. METHODS: The complex of HA-PL (named Haplex) was prepared by film dispersion and sonication method, its physico-chemical properties were identified by infrared spectra and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The oral absorption of Haplex was studied. Thirty-two healthy rats were divided into 4 groups randomly: (1) a normal saline (NS) control group; (2) an HA group; (3) a mixture group and (4) a Haplex group. After intragastric administration, the concentration of HA in serum was determined. RESULTS: The physico-chemical properties of Haplex were different from HA or PL or their mixture. After Haplex was administered to rats orally, the serum concentration of HA was increased when compared with the mixture or HA control groups from 4 h to 10 h (P 〈 0.05). The AAUCo-12, of Haplex was also greater than that of the other three groups (P 〈 0.05). CONCLUSION: The method of film dispersion and sonication can prepare HA and PL complex, and PL can enhance the oral absorption of exogenous HA.展开更多

In this study, poly (ether sulfone) (PES) support layer was first hydrophilically modified with poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) via surface segregation during the phase inversion process. Gelatin (GE) was then cast on the PVA-modified PES support layer as the active layer followed by crosslinking to fabricate composite membranes for ethanol dehydration. The enrichment of PVA on the surface of support layer improved interfacial compatibility of the as-prepared GE/PVA-PES composite membrane. The water contact angle measurement and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) data confirmed the surface segregation of PVA with a surface coverage density of -80%. T-peel test showed that the maxima/force to separate the support layer and the active layer was enhanced by 3 times compared with the GE/PES membrane. The effects of PVA content in the support layer, crosslinking of GE active layer and operating parameters on the pervaporative dehydration performance were investigated. The operational stability of the composite membrane was tested by immersing the membrane in ethanol aqueous solution for a period of time. Stable pervaporation performance for dehydration of 90% ethanol solution was obtained for GE/PVA-PES membrane with a separation factor of -60 and a permeation flux of -1910 g.m^-2.h1 without peeling over 28 days immersion.展开更多
AIM: To investigate the effcacy of effuent biomarkers for peritoneal deterioration with functional decline in peritoneal dialysis (PD).METHODS: From January 2005 to March 2013, the subjects included 218 PD patient...AIM: To investigate the effcacy of effuent biomarkers for peritoneal deterioration with functional decline in peritoneal dialysis (PD).METHODS: From January 2005 to March 2013, the subjects included 218 PD patients with end-stage renal disease at 18 centers. Matrix metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2), interleukin-6 (IL-6), hyaluronan, and cancer antigen 125 (CA125) in peritoneal effluent were quantified with enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Peritoneal solute transport rate was assessed by peritoneal equilibration test (PET) to estimate peritoneal deterioration.RESULTS: The ratio of the effuent level of creatinine (Cr) obtained 4 h after injection (D) to that of plasma was correlated with the effluent levels of MMP-2 (ρ = 0.74, P 〈 0.001), IL-6 (ρ = 0.46, P 〈 0.001), and hyaluronan (ρ = 0.27, P 〈 0.001), but not CA125 (ρ = 0.13, P = 0.051). The area under receiver operating characteristic curve for the effluent levels of MMP-2, IL-6, and hyaluronan against high PET category were 0.90, 0.78, 0.62, and 0.51, respectively. No patient developed new-onset encapsulating peritoneal sclerosis for at least 1.5 years after peritoneal effuent sampling.CONCLUSION: The effuent MMP-2 level most closely reflected peritoneal solute transport rate. MMP-2 can be a reliable indicator of peritoneal deterioration with functional decline.展开更多

文摘The event of mutations in the surface antigen gene of hepatitis B virus(HBV) results in undetectable hepatitis B surface antigen with positive/negative anti-hepatitis B core(anti-HBc) antibody status in serum and this phenomenon is named occult hepatitis B infection(OBI). The presence of anti-HBc antibody in serum is an important key for OBI tracking, although about 20% of OBI cases are negative for anti-HBc antibody. The diagnosis of OBI is mainly based on polymerase chain reaction(PCR) and real-time PCR assays. However, real-time PCR is a more reliable method than PCR. OBI is a great issue for the public health problem and a challenge for the clinical entity worldwide. The persistence of OBI may lead to the development of cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma. With regard to OBI complications, the screening of HBV DNA by the highly sensitive molecular means should be implemented for:(1) patients with a previous history of chronic or acute HBV infection;(2) patients co-infected with hepatitis C virus/human immunodeficiency virus;(3) patients undergoing chemotherapy or anti-CD20 therapy;(4) recipients of organ transplant;(5) blood donors;(6) organ transplant donors;(7) thalassemia and hemophilia patients;(8) health care workers;(9) patients with liver related disease(cryptogenic);(10) hemodialysis patients;(11) patients undergoing lamivudine or interferon therapy; and(12) children in time of HBV vaccination especially in highly endemic areas of HBV. Active HBV vaccination should be implemented for the close relatives of patients who are negative for OBI markers. Thus, the goal of this review is to evaluate the rate of OBI with a focus on status of high risk groups in different regions of the world.
文摘Hyaluronan binding protein 1 (HABP1) is a negatively charged multifunctional mammalian protein with a unique structural fold. Despite the fact that HABP1 possesses mitochondrial localization signal, it has also been localized to other cellular compartments. Using indirect immunofluorescence, we examined the sub-cellular localization of HABP1 and its dynamics during mitosis. We wanted to determine whether it distributes in any distinctive manner after mitotic nuclear envelope disassembly or is dispersed randomly throughout the cell. Our results reveal the golgi localization of HABP1 and demonstrate its complete dispersion throughout the cell during mitosis. This distinctive distribution pattern of HABP1 during mitosis resembles its ligand hyaluronan, suggesting that in concert with each other the two molecules play critical roles in this dynamic process.
文摘A gelatin/MMT nanocomposite was prepared in an aqueous solution and investigated by XRD,FTIR and 13 C NMR,and then the intercalation mechanism was discussed.The result of XRD indicated that the gelatin molecule had already inserted into the interlayer of MMT,and the intercalation or exfoliation structure had been achieved.The result of 13 C NMR demonstrated that the ions interaction between gelatin and MMT was attributed to the driving force for intercalation.In order to confirm the role of -COO - of gelatin in the combination with MMT,lauric sodium was brought in as a model to react with MMT,and was characterized by XRD and FTIR,the result proved that there existed a kind of strong interaction between -COO - and ions of MMT.
文摘A revolution in Shakespeare studies over the past three decades asks that we take earlier quarto versions of his plays as fully independent texts. In no case can such a change in our outlook yield more illuminating results than a serious look at the 1608 Quarto version of Shakespeare's King Lear. The 1623 Folio version and the "conflated" modem editions, which combine the "best" readings of the Quarto and Folio versions, both anoint his godson Edgar, the Earl of Gloucester, as the new king at the end. However, the 1608 Quarto version elevates, not Edgar, but Lear's son-in-law, the Duke of Albany, to the kingship at the end. Shakespeare may be telling the same story in texts that seem strikingly similar, but the difference in the endings shifts the center of gravity in both plays, requiring an interpretation that makes sense out this difference. The title page of the 1608 Quarto version of King Lear describes it as a "history"; yet this "same" King Lear is listed as a "tragedy" in the 1623 Folio. The difference between those two words is the key to why Shakespeare's two versions could have startlingly different outcomes.

文摘The waste dump of open-pit coal mine is remade of soil-rock mixture under the action of gravity,dynamic load of transportation equipment and earthquake,etc.By using artificial synthetic transparent soil,the developing process and migration law for soil-rock mixture are observed in the remade process.The mixture of fused quartz sand,liquid paraffin and n-tridecane is chosen as the material for synthetic transparent soil which is mixed with liquid paraffin and n-tridecane at a mass ratio of4.4at room temperature of17℃.Physical and mechanical properties of transparent soil are determined by physical test and compared with those in natural sandy soil.The results show that transparent soil and sandy soil have high similarity,in other words,transparent soil can be used for similar simulation experiments of soil-rock mixture.

文摘AIM: To prepare a complex of hyaluronic acid (HA) and phospholipids (PL), and study the improvement effect of PL on the oral absorption of HA. METHODS: The complex of HA-PL (named Haplex) was prepared by film dispersion and sonication method, its physico-chemical properties were identified by infrared spectra and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The oral absorption of Haplex was studied. Thirty-two healthy rats were divided into 4 groups randomly: (1) a normal saline (NS) control group; (2) an HA group; (3) a mixture group and (4) a Haplex group. After intragastric administration, the concentration of HA in serum was determined. RESULTS: The physico-chemical properties of Haplex were different from HA or PL or their mixture. After Haplex was administered to rats orally, the serum concentration of HA was increased when compared with the mixture or HA control groups from 4 h to 10 h (P 〈 0.05). The AAUCo-12, of Haplex was also greater than that of the other three groups (P 〈 0.05). CONCLUSION: The method of film dispersion and sonication can prepare HA and PL complex, and PL can enhance the oral absorption of exogenous HA.

文摘The interfacial compatibility of composite membrane is an important factor to its structural stability, andseparation performance. In this study, poly (ether sulfone) (PES) support layer was first hydrophilically modified with poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) via surface segregation during the phase inversion process. Gelatin (GE) was then cast on the PVA-modified PES support layer as the active layer followed by crosslinking to fabricate composite membranes for ethanol dehydration. The enrichment of PVA on the surface of support layer improved interfacial compatibility of the as-prepared GE/PVA-PES composite membrane. The water contact angle measurement and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) data confirmed the surface segregation of PVA with a surface coverage density of -80%. T-peel test showed that the maxima/force to separate the support layer and the active layer was enhanced by 3 times compared with the GE/PES membrane. The effects of PVA content in the support layer, crosslinking of GE active layer and operating parameters on the pervaporative dehydration performance were investigated. The operational stability of the composite membrane was tested by immersing the membrane in ethanol aqueous solution for a period of time. Stable pervaporation performance for dehydration of 90% ethanol solution was obtained for GE/PVA-PES membrane with a separation factor of -60 and a permeation flux of -1910 g.m^-2.h1 without peeling over 28 days immersion.

文摘AIM: To investigate the effcacy of effuent biomarkers for peritoneal deterioration with functional decline in peritoneal dialysis (PD).METHODS: From January 2005 to March 2013, the subjects included 218 PD patients with end-stage renal disease at 18 centers. Matrix metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2), interleukin-6 (IL-6), hyaluronan, and cancer antigen 125 (CA125) in peritoneal effluent were quantified with enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Peritoneal solute transport rate was assessed by peritoneal equilibration test (PET) to estimate peritoneal deterioration.RESULTS: The ratio of the effuent level of creatinine (Cr) obtained 4 h after injection (D) to that of plasma was correlated with the effluent levels of MMP-2 (ρ = 0.74, P 〈 0.001), IL-6 (ρ = 0.46, P 〈 0.001), and hyaluronan (ρ = 0.27, P 〈 0.001), but not CA125 (ρ = 0.13, P = 0.051). The area under receiver operating characteristic curve for the effluent levels of MMP-2, IL-6, and hyaluronan against high PET category were 0.90, 0.78, 0.62, and 0.51, respectively. No patient developed new-onset encapsulating peritoneal sclerosis for at least 1.5 years after peritoneal effuent sampling.CONCLUSION: The effuent MMP-2 level most closely reflected peritoneal solute transport rate. MMP-2 can be a reliable indicator of peritoneal deterioration with functional decline.

文摘A new rare earth complex Eu(III) (TTA)2(MA)2Phen · H2O was synthesized and characterized by element analysis, FTIR, UV, thermal analysis, and fluorescence spectra. The strong fluorescence and high thermal stability of Eu(III) (TTA)2(MA)2Phen · H2O were used to modify resin. The copolymer containing europium was prepared by copolymerization of Eu(III) and styrene/α- methylacrylic acid, and characterized by FTIR and fluorescence spectra. The fluorescence spectra showed that the copolymer was a sort of materials with good fluorescence property, and the higher fluorescence intensity came from the higher europium content.

文摘A Mixed Line Rate(MLR)optical network is a good candidate for a core backbone network because of its ability to provide diverse line rates to effectively accommodate traffic demands with heterogeneous bandwidth requirements.Because of the deleterious effects of physical impairments,there is a maximum transmission reach for optical signals before they have to be regenerated.Being expensive devices,regenerators are expected to be sparsely located and used in such a network,called a translucent optical network.In this paper,we consider the Grooming,Routing,and Wavelength Assignment(GRWA)problem so that the Quality of Transmission(QoT)for connections is satisfied,and the network-level performance metric of blocking probability is minimized.Cross-layer heuristics to effectively allocate the sparse regenerators in MLR networks are developed,and extensive simulation results are presented to demonstrate their effectiveness.
