Research on Flowering Habits and Fertility of Gaozhou Common Wild Rice (Oryza rufipogon) in Lingshui of Hainan Province 被引量:1

[Objective] The paper was to explore the flowering habits and fertility of Gaozhou common wild rice (Oryza rufipogon Griff.) in Lingshui of Hainan Province. [Method] The flowering habits, pollen fertility and seed setting rate of Gaozhou common wild rice in Lingshui of Hainan Province were studied, and compared with the flowering habits of common wild rice in Hainan Province. [Result] Gaozhou common wild rice was able to flower twice a year. The first flowering stage was from mid-April to mid-June for about 60 d, and the daily peak flowering dates were from May 13 to May 22. The daily flowering time was mainly between 11:20 and 13:00, and the peak flowering was at 11:30. The second flowering stage was from late August to late October for about 45 d, and the peak flowering dates lasted from September 8 to September 18. The daily flowering time was mainly from 11:15 to 12:50, and the daily peak flowering was at 11:30. In both flowering stages, the panicles had the same flowering characteristics. The stigma exsertion reached a high value of 95.37% with single (46.23%) and dual (49.14%) stigmas exsertion respectively. A spikelet remained open for 1.5-2.5 h, the angle of spikelet opening varied from 29.9° to 32.4°. At the two flowering stage the average pollen fertility rates were 89.67% and 85.62%, the average seed setting rates were 58.81% and 55.79%, respectively. Hainan population flowered only once (from mid-October to mid-December), this had significant difference with the performance of Gaozhou common wild rice which flowered twice a year. [Conclusion] The results provided basis for the research on gene flow frequency from transgenic rice to wild rice and its relationship with flowering habits of common wild rice. 展开更多

School Support Services Model for Students With Disabilities in General Education Classrooms: Using Data From the Special Needs Education Longitudinal Study in Taiwan

The purposes of this study were to establish a school support service model for students with disabilities in general classroom, and to explore the current status of school support services provided for students with disabilities in preschools, primary, and junior high schools. Therefore, this study used data from the Special Needs Education Longitudinal Study in Taiwan, collected in the 2007-2008 academic year. There were 2,924 students with disabilities selected in the study who were placed in general classrooms; 855 were in preschool, 1,079 were in primary school and 990 were in junior high school. The questionnaires in the database were answered by their teachers. The results of this study are listed, as follows: In terms of the school support service model for students with disabilities in the three stages of education, adjustment in teaching accounts for 1-15% of the explanatory power regarding the overall model, while support services account for 63-85%, which peak in junior high schools. Secondly, itinerant teachers are found to be the most important human resource in preschools. For primary and junior high schools, parents and special education teachers are the more prevalent influences. The more common school support services are tuition refunds, itinerant services, adjustments in examinations, and scholarships. 展开更多

The present paper discusses the different theories on entrepreneurship in general and social entrepreneurship in particular to investigate the different determinants of social entrepreneurship in the context of Saudi Arabia. The present research is a conceptual study. The data were collected to analyze the entrepreneurship theories in Saudi Arabia's context. The data related to entrepreneurship spirit, perception of society towards entrepreneurship, and other macroeconomic indicators are collected from different research journals, websites of different corporate houses, and government sources to analyze the social entrepreneurship theories, such as failure thesis, interdependence theories, welfare state theory, supply-side theory, entrepreneurship education, etc.. The theoretical hypothesis of interdependence theory, entrepreneurship spirit, and general education and the theoretical analysis of this paper in light of Saudi Arabia are in line with the theory. But the hypothesis generated out of failure thesis theory, welfare state theory, entrepreneurship education, and individualistic and collective society culture is not in line with these theories. 展开更多

A CDA Approach to Understanding Chinese Basic Education Reform From Sino-US News Reports

It has been about one decade since China takes effect the basic education reform, and this study chooses 14 news reports about Chinese basic education reform in the recent years from both America and China as the research samples, and analyzes the samples from the perspective of critical discourse analysis (CDA) to show whether there are differences in the two countries' news reports. The samples in this study are selected from the official websites of the two countries. Among the American news reports, some reports from New York Times and others from CNN; while among the Chinese reports, some are from China Daily and others are from CCTV. Under the theoretical framework of CDA, this paper is based on Fairclough's three-dimensional modes, and chooses Halliday's systemic-functional grammar as the analytical tool. It aims to reveal the hidden relationship between news reports language and ideology as well as power through the contrastive analysis. Through the analysis it finds out that the power relations and ideologies tend to exist in news reports on the issue of Chinese basic education reform. The purposes of news reports are not only to provide the latest information to readers, but also to influence the readers ideologies and at last even to control the readers' ideologies through reading of the very issue 展开更多

This paper examines Zarrilli's personal origins, his pedagogy, his teaching influences, and his legacy based on his artistic progeny. Information was gathered through interviews, personal observation, on-site participation, and literature. The reproduction rate of Equus przewalskii in this study increased from year to year showing that the wild horses have already felt comfortable in the new environment and became acclimatized successfully. Of the mares which were born in Hustai National Park and successfully reached reproductive age, 24.7% first gave birth at age 3 and 55.6% of them first gave birth at age 4. The most effective age range within the breeding population was 5 to 15, 25%-89% of them giving birth and an average during 2002-2011 of 72.9%. Of the Przewalski's horses which died, 65% were foals, 9.4% subadult male, 7.7% subadult female, 7.2% adult male and 10.6% were adult females. Causes of mortality differed by age and sex although wolf attacks accounted for the predominant number of deaths among foals and subadults. Stallions usually died of bad condition and injuries but parturition problems were common causes of death among mares. The mortality rate of foals (40% in 1993-2011) is a matter of great concern since foals born in Hustai National Park are the only gain component now after the active reintroduction period came to an end. A total of 109 foals were killed by wolves in 1993-2011 but 52% of them were younger than one month. 展开更多

Project-based learning in the late 1990s was introduced in China. Within ten years, research project studying abroad connotation, significance and theoretical foundation, extension are applied research to classroom practice. However, most of the research object of the project is teaching primary and secondary students, higher education, adult education and general higher education students in science and engineering students. Research related to the field of English teaching is not much; the theory is applied to the case of teaching practice rarely. The application of "harmonious teaching method" in the sports dance teaching of general colleges can help theoretically analyze the teaching process of existing sports dance actions and reveal the main reason for the gap with the goal of "comprehensive harmonious development", and also can verify the theoretical analysis results. Therefore, using teaching experiment method, experiment class and control class were selected for implementing two different teaching methods. Difference T test of small samples average was made on the acquired data for revealing the teaching effect difference between two different teaching methods. The result shows that the difference between two teaching methods was significant. The application of "harmonious teaching method" in the sports dance teaching of physical education of general colleges plays a certain positive role in training the comprehensive and harmonious moral, intellectual and physical developments of college students. 展开更多
