The data used is school achievement by ...This paper examines the effect on rates of achievement of the interaction of student gender and school socioeconomic status, using ordinary least squares and probit regressions. The data used is school achievement by students taking externally assessed accounting standards in their final year at New Zealand secondary schools, and covers the period 2004 to 2008. The paper concludes that the interaction of gender and school decile have a significant impact on achievement rates for Maori, Pacific Island and Asian girls relative to Maori, Pacific Island and Asian boys in low decile schools. A secondary contribution of this paper is to demonstrate that comparing the achievement of gender or socioeconomic status groups in isolation is insufficient when examining academic performance and evaluating subject curriculum. Interactions between variables need to be considered, whether they be gender and decile as this paper examines, or other variables not examined within this paper.展开更多

In this paper, forest data variables as tree height and diameter measured in two plots in Central Mountains in Spain. These data were georeferenced to obtain maps that can visualize the spatial variability of these forest variables. In order to evaluate the best interpolation method that could adequately explain the spatial variability of those variables, two interpolation methods were studied: inverse results was made by means of statistical methods to analyze distance weighted (IDW) and Ordinary Kriging (OK). The fuzzy logical system is used so that the fuzzy inference rule is transferred into a type of variable coefficient nonlinear ordinary differential equation. Consequently the model of the chaotic system is obtained. Then a fuzzy tracking control and a fuzzy synchronization for chaotic systems is proposed as well. First, a known tracking control for the Rossler’s system is used in this paper. We represent the Rossler’s chaotic and control systems into fuzzy inference rules. Then the variable coefficient nonlinear ordinary differential equation is also got. Simulation results show that such an approach is effective and has a high precision.展开更多
