The optic- fiber temperature measurement probe based on ruby is developed. This system is particularly adaptable to the temperature measurement in the range of 0℃ to 130℃. A considerably improved performance is seen in this new device. The drive current to the LED can be easily kept within the required defined bounds through the control circuitry.展开更多
This paper presents a new continuum thermal stress theory for crystals based on interatomic potentials.The effect of finite temperature is taken into account via a harmonic model.An EAM potential for copper is adopted...This paper presents a new continuum thermal stress theory for crystals based on interatomic potentials.The effect of finite temperature is taken into account via a harmonic model.An EAM potential for copper is adopted in this paper and verified by computing the effect of the temperature on the specific heat,coefficient of thermal expansion and lattice constant.Then we calculate the elastic constants of copper at finite temperature.The calculation results are in good agreement with experimental data.The thermal stress theory is applied to an anisotropic crystal graphite,in which the Brenner potential is employed.Temperature dependence of the thermodynamic properties,lattice constants and thermal strains for graphite is calculated.The calculation results are also in good agreement with experimental data.展开更多
Deformation of the bulk metallic glasses (BMGs) and the creation and propagation of the shear bands are closely interconnected.Shearing force was loaded on Zr 41.2 Ti 13.8 Cu 12.5 Ni 10.0 Be 22.5 (Vit.1) BMGs by cutti...Deformation of the bulk metallic glasses (BMGs) and the creation and propagation of the shear bands are closely interconnected.Shearing force was loaded on Zr 41.2 Ti 13.8 Cu 12.5 Ni 10.0 Be 22.5 (Vit.1) BMGs by cutting during the turning of the BMG rod.The temperature rise of alloy on the shear bands was calculated and the result showed that it could reach the temperature of the super-cooled liquid zone or exceed the melting point.The temperature rise caused viscous fluid flow and brought about the deformation of BMGs.This suggested that the deformation of BMGs was derived,at least to some extent,from the adiabatic shear temperature rise.展开更多
