Laboratorial incubation and field experiments were conducted on soils ranging in texture from sandy loam toclay and in PH from 3 .6 to 9.0 to determine the agronomic effectiveness of single superphosphate (SSP), fused magne-sium phosphate (FMP)and partially acidulated phosphate rock (PAPR)on 8 field crops. The results showed that thepottern of available P released from SSP was fixing -releasing-fixing-steady state, while that of PAPR was shortlyfixing-slowly releasing-fixing-steady state And the PAPR . SSP and FMP were equally effective as judged by yield, Puptake by plants and extractable P in soils after crop harvesting. The PAPR used as basal fertilizer was more effectivethan that as top dressing, and its residual effect was also obvious. 展开更多

This paper starts from the actual situation and tries to find solutions to any effective management's problems. Treatments in this paper are based on literature reviews and combined with empirical research. The effect of climate change in recent times has disrupted the onset and duration of seasons in Nigeria manifesting in the reduction of both staple and cash crops, and livestock yields. This has transformed the country to a major importer of those agricultural produce she hitherto exported. As a country where over 70% of the population depends on agriculture for survival, the impacts of climate change are a major threat to both food security and the general econoray. Remedial measures which have been suggested including adoption of agronomic and tested practices, reduced burning and afforestation. An option that could be of great potential in ameliorating this situation but which has not been practiced especially in the production of specialty crops is the use of greenhouse farming. This paper discusses the impact of climate change on Nigerian agriculture. The potentials and logistics are required for effective use of greenhouse farming as an adaptation to climate change in Nigeria. It is suggested that research should be carded out to select appropriate glazing materials. The provisions of training and credit facilities for interested farmers are recommended for effective utilization of the system. 展开更多

This study aims to develop a water turbine suitable for ultra-low heads in open channels, with the end goal being the effective utilization of unutilized hydroelectric energy in agricultural water channels. We performed tests by applying a cross-flow runner to an open channel as an undershot water turbine while attempting to simplify the structure and eliminate the casing. We experimentally investigated the flow fields and performance of water tur- bines in states where the flow rate was constant for the undershot cross-flow water turbine mentioned above. In addition, we compared existing undershot water turbines with our undershot cross-flow water turbine after at- taching a bottom plate to the runner. From the results, we were able to clarify the following. Although the effec- tive head for cross-flow runners with no bottom plate was lower than those found in existing runners equipped with a bottom plate, the power output is greater in the high rotational speed range because of the high turbine ef- ficiency. Also, the runner with no bottom plate differed from rtmners that had a bottom plate in that no water was being wound up by the blades or retained between the blades, and the former received twice the flow due to the flow-through effect. As a result, the turbine efficiency was greater for runners with no bottom plate in the full ro- tational speed range compared with that found in runners that had a bottom plate. 展开更多
