Volatile organic compounds(VOCs) are a major component in air pollutants and pose great risks to both human health and environmental protection. Currently, VOC abatement in industrial applications is through the use of activated carbons as adsorbents and oxide-supported metals as catalysts. Notably, activated carbons easily adsorb water, which strongly hinders the adsorption of VOCs; conventional oxides typically possess relatively low surface areas and random pores, which effectively influence the catalytic conversion of VOCs. Zeolites, in contrast with activated carbons and oxides, can be designed to have very uniform and controllable micropores, in addition to tailored wettability properties, which can favor the selective adsorption of VOCs. In particular, zeolites with selective adsorptive properties when combined with catalytically active metals result in zeolite-supported metals exhibiting significantly improved performance in the catalytic combustion of VOCs compared with conventional oxide-supported catalysts. In this review, recent developments on VOC abatement by adsorptive and catalytic techniques over zeolite-based materials have been briefly summarized. 展开更多

Three-dimensionally ordered macro-/mesoporous alumina(3DOM Al2O3)-supported cobalt oxide and platinum nanocatalysts(xPt/yCo3O4/3DOM Al2O3,Pt mass fraction(x%)= 0-1.4%,Co3O4 mass fraction(y%) = 0-9.2%) were prepared using poly(methyl methacrylate) templating,incipient wetness impregnation and polyvinyl alcohol-protected reduction.The resulting xPt/yCo3O4/3DOM Al2O3 samples displayed a high-quality 3DOM architecture with macropores(180-200 nm in diameter) and mesopores(4-6 nm in diameter) together with surface areas in the range of 94 to 102m^2/g.Using these techniques,Co3O4 nanoparticles(NPs,18.3 nm) were loaded on the 3DOM Al2O3 surface,after which Pt NPs(2.3-2.5 nm) were uniformly dispersed on theyCo3O4/3DOM Al2O3.The1.3Pt/8.9Co3O4/3DOM Al2O3 exhibited the best performance for toluene oxidation,with a T(90%) value(the temperature required to achieve 90%toluene conversion) of 160 ℃ at a space velocity of20000 mL g^(-1) h^(-1).It is concluded that the excellent catalytic performance of the 1.3Pt/8.9Co3O4/3DOM Al2O3 is owing to well-dispersed Pt NPs,the high concentration of adsorbed oxygen species,good low-temperature reducibility,and strong interaction between the Pt and Co3O4 NPs,as well as the unique bimodal porous structure of the support. 展开更多

In order to mitigate the effects of space adaptation syndrome(SAS) and improve the training efficiency of the astronauts, a novel astronaut rehabilitative training robot(ART) was proposed. ART can help the astronauts to carry out the bench press training in the microgravity environment. Firstly, a dynamic model of cable driven unit(CDU) was established whose accuracy was verified through the model identification. Secondly, to improve the accuracy and the speed of the active loading, an active loading hybrid force controller was proposed on the basis of the dynamic model of the CDU. Finally, the actual effect of the hybrid force controller was tested by simulations and experiments. The results suggest that the hybrid force controller can significantly improve the precision and the dynamic performance of the active loading with the maximum phase lag of the active loading being 9° and the maximum amplitude error being 2% at the frequency range of 10 Hz. The iron-loaded organic phase of naphthenic acid-isooctyl alcohol-kerosene was prepared, and the process kinetics of hydrothermal stripping of iron from the phase was studied. Several factors affecting hydrothermal stripping, such as the polymer of naphthenic acid, initial concentrations of iron and naphthenic acid, temperature and agitation time, were investigated, and based on experimental results and theoretical analysis, two kinetic models were established.The stripping rate equation suggests that the hydrothermal stripping process activation energy is 96.4 kJ·mol-1 and the stripping is controlled by hydrolysis of naphthenic complex of iron. The values calculated by the stripping fraction equation comparatively accord with the experimental data. 展开更多

The pinion bracket-assembly(PBA) is a major part of three gorges project(TGP) ship lift drive system. The static strength,fatigue strength and stress distribution of hinge pin of PBA were analyzed by ANSYS, and the structure of PBA was optimized. The results show that after the optimization, the maximum comprehensive stress is 259.59 MPa, the maximum fatigue cumulative damage of weld joints is 0.94 and the maximum vertical deformation of hinge pin is 0.14 mm. The elastic deformation, hydropneumatic spring cylinder(HSC) load response and the vibration characteristics of PBA were studied by the bearing test when PBA bore the load caused by different water level errors. The results indicate that when the water level of ship chamber ranges from 3.4 m to 3.6 m,the vertical elastic deformation of the pinion shaft is between-8.58 and 10.50 mm. When upward outage-load(1580 k N) is imposed by the test-rack, the vertical elastic deformation of the pinion shaft is 13.42 and 14.07 mm and HSC load response is 795.80-800.80 k N. In the process of imposing load on the pinion by the test-rack, the maximum vibration amplitude and acceleration of PBA internal components are 0.37° and 2.67 rad/s2, respectively; the maximum impact on the pin caused by vibration is 19.89 k N; the pinion shaft vertical displacement and HSC load response do not fluctuate. There is a great difference between the frequency of meshing force of the pinion and the rack(1.06 Hz) and first-order natural frequency of PBA(8.41 Hz), thus PBA will not resonate.From all above, PBA meets the static strength and fatigue strength requirements. The vibration of PBA internal components has no effect on the vertical displacement of the pinion shaft, HSC load response and smooth operation of PBA. There is a liner relationship in the ratio of 2:1 between the thrust imposed by the test-rack and HSC load, thus HSC can limit the load imposed on the pinion. 展开更多

The reliability of electric supply to consumers is one of the most important factors that determine the requirements imposed on modem utility companies. This paper presents the results of investigation by computer software of the overvoltages resulting from a ferroresonance conditions in MV networks at open phase operating condition with and without connection to earth on source and load sides of distribution transformer. This overvoltage may reach 4.2 pu on one of the HV side of transformer unswitched phases. The results of the study show that ferroresonance overvoltage may be controlled by replacing fuses with circuit breakers on HV side to ensure switching-off all phases. Insertion of resistor or reactor in the neutral of source and loadsides of the transformer with 5% active load will help in suppressing overvoltages. 展开更多

This paper presents the design, analysis and experimental study of a loading system for heavy-duty nodes test based on a large-scale multi-directional in-plane loading device, which has been used in a full-scale heavy-duty support node test. Test loads of the support reached 6 567 kN with multi-directional loading requirements, which outrange the capacity of the available loading devices. Through the reinforcement of a large-scale multi-directional inplane loading device, the innovative design of a self-balanced load transferring device, and other arrangement considerations of the loading system, the test was implemented and the loading capacity of the ring was considerably enlarged. Due to the heavy loading requirements, some checking computations of the ring and the load transferring device outranged the limit of the Chinese national code "Code for Design of Steel Structures (GB 50017—2003)", thus elastic-plastic finite element (FE) analysis was carried out on the two devices, and also the real-time monitoring on the whole loading systems during experiments to ensure test safety. FE analysis and test results show that the loading system worked elastically during experiments. 展开更多

Analysis of structural hot-spot stress in orthotropic plates

On the basis of the actual steel deck structure of Taizhou Bridge, this paper carries out hot-spot stress analysis on some key spots by using the finite element model which simulates local structure of orthotropic steel bridge decks. A finite element model is established for local structure of orthotropic steel bridge decks, and in the analysis of linear elasticity of the structure, face load is employed to simulate the loads from vehicle wheels. Analysis results show that main stresses are relatively heavy at the joints between diaphragm plates, top plates and U-shaped ribs and the joints between diaphragm plates and U-shaped ribs. These joints shall be regarded as key points for hot-spot stress analysis. Different mesh densities are adopted in the finite element model and the main stresses at different hot spots are contrasted and linear extrapolation is carried out using extrapolation formulae. Results show that different mesh densities have different influences on the hot-spot stresses at the welded seams of U-shaped ribs. These influences shall be considered in calculation and analysis. 展开更多

The meso-Co3O4 and AgxAuyPd/meso-Co3O4 catalysts were prepared using the KIT-6-templating and polyvinyl alcohol-protected NaBH4 reduction methods,respectively.Various techniques were used to characterize physicochemical properties of these materials.Catalytic performance of the samples was evaluated for methanol combustion.The cubically crystallized Co3O4 support displayed a three-dimensionally ordered mesoporous structure.The supported noble metal nanoparticles(NPs)possessed a surface area of 115.125 m^2/g,with the noble NPs(average size=2.8.4.5 nm)being uniformly dispersed on the surface of meso-Co3O4.Among all of the samples,0.68 wt%Ag0.75Au1.14Pd/meso-Co3O4 showed the highest catalytic activity(T50%=100℃and T90%=112℃at a space velocity of 80000 mL(g^–1 h^–1).The partial deactivation of the 0.68 wt%Ag0.75Au1.14Pd/meso-Co3O4 sample due to water vapor or carbon dioxide introduction was reversible.It is concluded that the good catalytic performance of 0.68 wt%Ag0.75Au1.14Pd/meso-Co3O4 was associated with its highly dispersed Ag0.75Au1.14Pd alloy NPs,high adsorbed oxygen species concentration,good low-temperature reducibility,and strong interaction between Ag0.75Au1.14Pd alloy NPs and meso-Co3O4. 展开更多

Concerning TRB (tapered roller bearings), this motion generates forces that are transmitted to the outer ring by the tapered rollers. Thus, contact stresses occur and the number of rollers plays a major role with respect to the load distribution. This influence is analyzed in this study by the FEM (finite element method) with commercial code ABAQUS, where two models were evaluated: a common TRB and the same one but with fewer rollers. Stresses, particularly those at geometric discontinuities, influence the structural integrity of engineering components. Motivated by the prevalence of complicated-shaped perforated components, the objective of this paper is to demonstrate the ability to stress analyze loaded finite members containing asymmetrical, irregularly-shaped cutouts. Recognizing the difficulties in obtaining purely theoretical or numerical solutions for these situations, the paper presents an expeditious means of experimentally stress analyzing such structures. Processing the load-induced temperature information with a series representation of a stress function provides the independent stress components reliably full-field, including on the edge of a hole. The stresses satisfy equilibrium and strains satisfy compatibility. In addition to being able to stress analyze complicated shapes using real, rather than complex variables, the technique is significant in which it smooths the recorded thermal information, is widely applicable, and requires neither differentiating the measured data nor knowing the elastic properties or external boundary conditions. The latter is extremely important since the external loading is often unknown in practice. That the approach provides the independent stresses is also significant since fatigue analyses and strength criteria typically necessitate knowing the individual components of stress. Present results are supported by those from a finite element analysis, strain gage measurements and load equilibrium. 展开更多

In order to evaluate the influence of the seal structure on door dosing force, nonlinear finite dement methed is introduced to analyze compression deformation of a door seal for SANTANA (name of the car made by Shanghai Volkswagen Co. Ltd). MSC. Marc software is used to analyze the large deformation of the seal and the compression test is done to prove the computational results. The results show that the compression loads of the door seal are larger than the standard value of Shanghai Volkswagen Co. Ltd and the seal structure needs to be optimized. There are consistent relationships between calculating results and experimental results and the simulation method is effective. 展开更多

This is due to the fact that, through the smart grid, stable and reliable power systems can be achieved. This paper presents a fuzzy logic control for dual active bridge series resonant converters for DC smart grid application. The DC smart grid consists of wind turbine and photovoltaic generators, controllable and DC loads, and power converters. The proposed control method has been applied to the controllable load's and the grid side's dual active bridge series resonant converters for attaining control of the power system. It has been used for management of controllable load's state of charge, DC feeder's voltage stability during the loads and power variations from wind energy and photovoltaic generation and power flow management between the grid side and the DC smart grid. The effectiveness of the proposed DC smart grid operation has been verified by simulation results obtained by using MATLAB and PLECS cards. 展开更多

In recent years, the increasing application of nonlinear and unbalanced electronic equipment and large single phase loads have made voltage imbalance a serious problem in power distribution systems. A novel approach has been proposed to eliminate voltage imbalance and disturbances. The main strategy of this scheme is based on series active filter. By improving control circuit toward existing schemes and proposing a new strategy to control the voltage amplitude, simultaneous elimination of voltage imbalance, faults, voltage harmonics and also compensation of voltage drop in transmission lines become possible. Eventually, the voltage on the load side is a perfectly balanced three phase voltage with specific proper amplitude. The proposed scheme has been simulated in a test network and the results show high capability of this scheme for the complete elimination of imbalance without phase shift. 展开更多

Objective: To investigate the stress distribution and fracture mechanism of proximal femur under impact loads. Methods : The image data of one male' s femur were collected by the Lightspeed multi-lay spiral computed tomography. A 3D finite element model of the femur was established by employing the finite element software ANSYS, which mainly concentrated on the effects of the directions of the impact loads arising from intense movements and the parenchyma on the hip joint as well as those of the femur material properties on the distribution of the Mises equivalent stress in the femur after impact. Results: The numerical results about the effects of the angle δ of the impact loads to the anterior direction and the angle γ of the impact loads to the femur shaft on the bone fracture were given. The angle δ had larger effect on the stress distribution than the angle γ, which mainly represented the fracture of the upper femur including the femoral neck fracture when the posterolateral femur was impacted. This result was consistent with the clinical one. The parenchyma on the hip joint has relatively large relaxation effect on the impact loads. Conclusions : A 3D finite element analysis model of the femoral hip joint under dynamic loads is successfully established by using the impact dynamic theory. 展开更多

Given the definition of the reference Knudsen number for micro gas journal bearings,the range in the number is related to the viscosity of air at different temperatures. A modified Reynolds equation for micro gas journal bearings based on Burgdorfer's first-order slip boundary condition is proposed that takes into account the gas rarefaction effect. The finite difference method (FDM) is adopted to solve the modified Reynolds equation to obtain the pressure profiles,load capacities and attitude angles for micro gas journal bearings at different reference Knudsen numbers,bearing numbers and journal eccentricity ratios. Numerical analysis shows that pressure profiles and non-dimensional load capacities decrease markedly as gas rarefaction in-creases. Attitude angles change conversely,and when the eccentricity ratio is less than 0.6,the attitude angles rise slightly and the influence of the reference Knudsen number is not marked. In addition,the effect of gas rarefaction on the non-dimensional load capacity and attitude angle decreases with smaller bearing numbers. 展开更多
