Knowledge of the changes in a material’s function, form, and location during the transfer and transformation of materials to generate human services will improve our understanding of how humanity interacts with the environment and of how services are formed by human activities. We compared lead’s anthropogenic and biogeochemical cycles and found that the services, pathways, and changes in form requiring the most attention. We traced lead through its life cycle and identified the changes in its functions, forms, and locations by examining technology and engineering information. Lead ore and scrap were the two main anthropogenic sources of lead. When lead provides human services, its main functions included the storage and delivery of electricity, anti-corrosion treatments, and radiation protection; the main forms of lead in these products were Pb, PbO2 and PbSO4, and the main location changed from lithosphere in central China to regions in eastern China. 展开更多

At the same time, the online shopping could not be successfully completed without logistics service. Logistics service quality (LSQ) has significant impact on revenue and profitability. This paper presents the issue from the perspective of the customer, and explores the initial factors of LSQ based on the online shopping through in-depth interview and the Delphi method. The survey uses a standard 7-point Likert-type scale to measure the LSQ. Empirical research results are shown in detail to confirm seven LSQ dimensions with Chinese characteristics, including timeliness quality, personal contact quality, order quality, order discrepancy handling, order condition and convenience. Statistical analyses of the investigation were conducted to test the reliability and validity of the LSQ evaluation model. 展开更多

Network traffic classification plays an important role and benefits many practical network issues,such as Next-Generation Firewalls(NGFW),Quality of Service(QoS),etc.To face the challenges brought by modern high speed networks,many inspiring solutions have been proposed to enhance traffic classification.However,taking many factual network conditions into consideration,e.g.,diversity of network environment,traffic classification methods based on Deep Inspection(DI) technique still occupy the top spot in actual usage.In this paper,we propose a novel classification system employing Deep Inspection technique,aiming to achieve Parallel Protocol Parsing(PPP).We start with an analytical study of the existing popular DI methods,namely,regular expression based methods and protocol parsing based methods.Motivated by their relative merits,we extend traditional protocol parsers to achieve parallel matching,which is the representative merit of regular expression.We build a prototype system,and evaluation results show that significant improvement has been made comparing to existing open-source solutions in terms of both memory usage and throughput. 展开更多

The Software Defined Networking(SDN) paradigm separates the control plane from the packet forwarding plane, and provides applications with a centralized view of the distributed network state. Thanks to the flexibility and efficiency of the traffic flow management, SDN based traffic engineering increases network utilization and improves Quality of Service(QoS). In this paper, an SDN based traffic scheduling algorithm called CATS is proposed to detect and control congestions in real time. In particular, a new concept of aggregated elephant flow is presented. And then a traffic scheduling optimization model is formulated with the goal of minimizing the variance of link utilization and improving QoS. We develop a chaos genetic algorithm to solve this NP-hard problem. At the end of this paper, we use Mininet, Floodlight and video traces to simulate the SDN enabled video networking. We simulate both the case of live video streaming in the wide area backbone network and the case of video file transferring among data centers. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm CATS effectively eliminates network congestions in subsecond. In consequence, CATS improves the QoS with lower packet loss rate and balanced link utilization. 展开更多

For the issue of flow control for Available Bit Rate (ABR) traffic in ATM network,a new improved Explicit Rate (ER) algorithm named Dynamic Double Threshold Congestion Indication (DDTCI) algorithm is presented based on the Explicit Forward Congestion Indication (EFCI) Current Cell Rate (CCR) algorithm and Relative Rate (RR) algorithm. Different from the early ER algorithm, both the high-level and the low-level threshold is dynamically changing according to the state of the bottleneck node. We determinate the congestion state with the information of the two dynamic threshold, and control the cell rate of the source by feed back mechanism. Except for the well performance in both link utilization and fairness in distribution of available bandwidth, the improved algorithm can alleviate the fluctuation of sending rate dramatically. The mechanism is modeled by a fluid model, and the useful expressions are derived.Simulation results show up our conclusion. 展开更多

Resource reservation protocols allow communicating hosts to reserve resources such as bandwidth to offer guaranteed service. However, current resource reservation architectures do not scale well for a large number of flows. In this paper, we present a simple reservation protocol and a scalable admission control algorithm, which can provide QoS guarantees to individual flows without per-flow management in the network core. By mapping each flow to a definite time, this scheme addresses the problems that limit the effectiveness of current endpoint admission control schemes. The overall admission control process is described. Analysis is used to explain the reasonability of our scheme and simulation validates its performance. 展开更多
