Nevertheless, resource management in MG is much more complicated than that in other grid applications due to the geographically distributed manufacturing resources, which range from CAD, CAPP and CAE to various kinds of machine tools. With the interaction of manufacturing grid information service (MGIS, developed by ourselves) and globus resource allocation manager (GRAM, provided by GT3), a resource management framework is presented to perform the functions of resource encapsulation, registry, discovery and monitoring. GIS- or CAD-based technology has been widely used for cartographic maps in coal mines, but structural gaps between such maps make it difficult to provide an integrated map service, for any specific purpose, at higher ...GIS- or CAD-based technology has been widely used for cartographic maps in coal mines, but structural gaps between such maps make it difficult to provide an integrated map service, for any specific purpose, at higher levels. There is no uniform platform that can be used to manage all involved maps. The main reason for this is that datasets are submitted by individual coal mines using their individual, diverse software. No consistent model is used within the software for data abstraction and symbolization. This paper first reviews all the essential specifications concerning OGC (Open Geospatial Consortium) interoperability. Then an OGC standard-oriented architecture is proposed to provide distributed coal mine map services. Within this new architecture the management of spatial data archives, and the integration of coal mine maps, are achieved through the interfaces of geospatial services. Finally an open source geospatial approach is suggested to implement the proposed scheme. A case study of the Huaibei Coal Group is used to demonstrate the proposal.展开更多

In the age of online workload explosion,cloud users are increasing exponentialy.Therefore,large scale data centers are required in cloud environment that leads to high energy consumption.Hence,optimal resource utiliza...In the age of online workload explosion,cloud users are increasing exponentialy.Therefore,large scale data centers are required in cloud environment that leads to high energy consumption.Hence,optimal resource utilization is essential to improve energy efficiency of cloud data center.Although,most of the existing literature focuses on virtual machine(VM)consolidation for increasing energy efficiency at the cost of service level agreement degradation.In order to improve the existing approaches,load aware three-gear THReshold(LATHR)as well as modified best fit decreasing(MBFD)algorithm is proposed for minimizing total energy consumption while improving the quality of service in terms of SLA.It offers promising results under dynamic workload and variable number of VMs(1-290)allocated on individual host.The outcomes of the proposed work are measured in terms of SLA,energy consumption,instruction energy ratio(IER)and the number of migrations against the varied numbers of VMs.From experimental results it has been concluded that the proposed technique reduced the SLA violations(55%,26%and 39%)and energy consumption(17%,12%and 6%)as compared to median absolute deviation(MAD),inter quartile range(IQR)and double threshold(THR)overload detection policies,respectively.展开更多
Overlay networks have emerged as a useful approach to providing a general framework for new applications and services that are to be implemented without significantly changing the IP-layer network infrastructure.Overl...Overlay networks have emerged as a useful approach to providing a general framework for new applications and services that are to be implemented without significantly changing the IP-layer network infrastructure.Overlay routing has been used as an alternative to the default best effort Internet routing for the absence of end-to-end Quality of Service(QoS). While the former has recently been investigated, the conflict of QoS restraints and resource optimization remains unsolved. Recent studies have shown that overlay paths can give better latency, loss rate and TCP throughput. In this paper, a multi-dimensional QoS objective model based on the analysis of multiple QoS constraints has been presented, and a routing algorithm to optimise the overlay resource of its nodes and links is then proposed.In fact, the algorithm obtained multiple QoS values using probability theory to achieve the routing according to the multi-dimensional QoS objective vector of the QoS objective model. Simulation results reveals that the algorithm works better than other existing algorithms in balancing the network resources, and applications with stringent QoS requirements could be run.展开更多
To satisfy mobile terminals ’( MTs) offloading requirements and reduce MTs’ cost,a joint cloud and wireless resource allocation scheme based on the evolutionary game( JRA-EG) is proposed for overlapping heterogeneou...To satisfy mobile terminals ’( MTs) offloading requirements and reduce MTs’ cost,a joint cloud and wireless resource allocation scheme based on the evolutionary game( JRA-EG) is proposed for overlapping heterogeneous networks in mobile edge computing environments. MTs that have tasks offloading requirements in the same service area form a population. MTs in one population acquire different wireless and computation resources by selecting different service providers( SPs). An evolutionary game is formulated to model the SP selection and resource allocation of the MTs. The cost function of the game consists of energy consumption,time delay and monetary cost. The solutions of evolutionary equilibrium( EE) include the centralized algorithm based on replicator dynamics and the distributed algorithm based on Q-learning.Simulation results show that both algorithms can converge to the EE rapidly. The differences between them are the convergence speed and trajectory stability. Compared with the existing schemes,the JRA-EG scheme can save more energy and have a smaller time delay when the data size becomes larger. The proposed scheme can schedule the wireless and computation resources reasonably so that the offloading cost is reduced efficiently.展开更多

For DRA (Dynamical Resource Allocation) with de-allocation mechanism, if a new voice call arrives and finds that all the channels are busy,then one of the GPRS packets which occupy more than one channel for data transmission may release a channel for the new voice call. This paper presents 5 de-allocation mechanisms, i.e.DA-RANDOM, DA-RICHEST, DA-POOREST, DA-OLDEST and DA-YOUNGEST, to select the GPRS packet for releasing the appropriate channel. Simulation results show that DAOLDEST achieves the best performance, especially in packets blocking probability, among all the de-allocation schemes. Although the performance of the proposed de-allocation schemes is not significantly different, they are all much better than that of the scheme without de-allocation.展开更多
Based on the temperature of the black body (TBB),station observed and NCEP reanalysis data,the impacts of the eastward propagation of convective cloud systems over the Tibetan Plateau on the southwest vortex (SWV) for...Based on the temperature of the black body (TBB),station observed and NCEP reanalysis data,the impacts of the eastward propagation of convective cloud systems over the Tibetan Plateau on the southwest vortex (SWV) formation that occurred at 1800 UTC on 29 June 2003 are analyzed by using the Zwack-Okossi (Z-O) equation to diagnose the thermal and dynamic processes.It is found that,in summer,severe convective activities often occur over the Tibetan Plateau due to the abundant supply of moisture.The convective cloud near the east edge of the plateau could move eastward with a shortwave trough in the westerly.The divergent center that is induced by latent heat release,which is associated with severe convective activities,moves out with the convective cloud and contributes to the low level decompression which is favorable for the formation of plateau edge cyclogenesis (PEC).The Z-O equation indicates that,in this case,the latent heat release and convergence are the two most important factors for SWV formation,which amounts to about 42% and 15% of the term TOTAL,respectively.It is implied that the thermal process effect was more important than the dynamic process during SWV formation.展开更多
