The paper utilizes the technologies of GIS (geographical information systems) and RS (remote sensing) in order to study large amount of weather data recorded in the field from different sources related to oil and gas industry in Rub' AI-Khali desert. The main objective is to identify the wind directions and its movement in Kidan areas and the areas south and east of Shaybah in Rub' Al-Khali desert. The study used different sources of data mainly recorded by the seismic campaigns' base camps and the drilling rig camps or the civil works camps. Wind Roses were created for all metrological weather stations in the study area. Also, the study tried to analyze the dune types using satellite imageries and identify the relation of its shapes to the wind direction. The final aim of the result of this study is to help in planning best locations to build facilities for new major oil and gas project.展开更多

Elzner provided more than 20 meanings of this word translated from Arabic. Music experts have decided in favor of the definition of word makom as "mode and genre". Establishment of makom as a genre had taken place approximately from 12th to 18th centuries. However, evolution of a mode system, had occurred much earlier. Makom art of Uzbekistan is a heritage, which had been formed over the long period. However, it has not yet reached its completion, it still keeps living and being filled with a new emotional mood, new image contents. Swift development of computer technology and communication means creates opportunities both for researchers and for performers to improve the phenomenon of the makom arts. Organization of various contests and festivals in Uzbekistan, makom performers' participation in foreign forums represents great incentives for showing the western interest in this arts and its integration into the global music science.展开更多

In this article the authors are formulated priorities for the development of an innovative economy: The promotion of investment growth in production infrastructure and innovation, increasing the orientation of research institutions to the needs of the real economy, the development of entrepreneurship in all sectors of the economy and the creation of necessary conditions. The article considers the key elements of innovation infrastructure. Also program "Development of high-tech industry and which Technopark "Novosibirsk" implements the this article is given a brief description of the complex target innovation in the industry to the city of Novosibirsk in 2020", in concept of technopark of distributed type, when the Technopark is built in the form of structural and autonomous innovation and technology centers established by the territorial-branch principle in conjunction with partner organizations. The analysis of the stories of success (and failure) of residents of Technopark is described in this article. Based on this analysis, which highlights the main factors contributing to the achievement of commercially meaningful results. These include training as an essential component of the innovation infrastructure. Describes the international educational programs implemented by the Innovative Technology Center "Education" at the Novosibirsk State University of Economics and Management. In this study, the author ...Textbooks material is one of the important issues that are worthy to investigate in order to enrich student's engagement and interaction in EFL (English as a Foreign Language) classrooms. In this study, the author argues that textbooks materials used in academic institutions may well take a significant part in generating an active environment in EEL classrooms. It is believed that more opportunities will be created for students to be more involved, active, and able to understand the content being addressed more effectively. Yet, by looking at the textbooks being utilised (at a university context where the author teaches), one can notice that student's culture (Eastern) is to a large extent missing in these textbooks, most of these books instead represent dominantly "Western" culture namely American and British cultures. This can deafly be depicted by topics discussed, pictures, clothing, names, and many other issues portrayed in these textbooks. This study is an attempt to challenge and problematize such domination of Western cultures portrayed in the content of English textbooks used in academic institutions not merely within Saudi Arabia but also extended to other countries and nations in the world.展开更多

The present paper is an attempt to identify the terms "Tsanars" and "Sanars". The issue remains one of the controversial issues in the scholarly literature. Due to different interpretations of the same sources, sc...The present paper is an attempt to identify the terms "Tsanars" and "Sanars". The issue remains one of the controversial issues in the scholarly literature. Due to different interpretations of the same sources, scholars come to different conclusions concerning the proper derivation of the terms, the ethnic affinity of Tsanars, their location or migration, and the priority of the evidence in the sources. Since the divergence in conclusions is caused by differing interpretations of the information preserved in Greek, Georgian, Armenian, and Arabic sources, the author of the present paper traces all the relative evidence of existing sources as well as the comments made by their publishers and researchers. The supposition about the Chechen origin of Tsanars, as well as their migration from western or southern Georgia eastward, is critically examined. The author comes to a conclusion concerning the derivation of the terms from the Greek language and submits arguments for priority of the Georgian sources. Proceeding from the sources, the author thinks that the term Tsanars designated a conterminous population, settled along the northern border of Georgia named by the Greeks in the early centuries.展开更多

The Hilbert-Huang transformation tech...This paper proposes an enhanced noise filtering technique to the Hilbert-Huang transformation technology for the identification of structural systems using vibration measurements. The Hilbert-Huang transformation technology is a set of superior algorithms non-stationary signals and also for analyzing non-linear and offers increased accuracy for linear and stationary signals. However, the signals are filtered by reconstruction from "'selected" intrinsic mode functions (IMFs), derived from the original signal through the empirical mode decomposition method. The proposed filtering technique offers the criterion for selecting the IMFs using the orthogonalization coefficient. In addition, a simple free vibration modal analysis has been resolved for the evaluation of the modal damping ratio. Through the enhanced filtering, it is possible to increase the accuracy for the estimation of the time-varying system's natural frequency and the damping ratio, indicative of the degree of damage, which helps an effective design of a control system.展开更多

Untapped wind a...Even though Saudi Arabia is the world's largest producer and exporter of petroleum and petroleum based products, it is also blessed with high potential of renewable energy sources like solar and wind. Untapped wind and solar energy sources, which are abundant throughout the kingdom, can be connected and optimally integrated into the grid through the use of smart grid technologies and the expansion of transmission facilities. Smart grid is an auto-balancing, self-monitoring power grid that accepts power from any source of fuel like oil, sun or wind and delivers electricity from suppliers to consumers. It helps to control the use of appliances in order to save energy, reduces cost and increase reliability. This paper describes the attributes of a smart grid and how these act as driving force to modernize the electrical power grid. The necessity of conservation of oil in Saudi Arabia is argued. Moreover, the vast availability of renewable energy sources like solar and wind in Saudi Arabia and advantages in utilizing these sources through smart grid technologies are advocated in this paper.展开更多
